We’ve all heard of “overnight success” — but success usually comes from hard work and careful planning. Success is by design.

Today LADD serves nearly 500 people, providing customized support in housing, education, social activities and employment. There are some 3,000 on our waiting list... and more people than ever will need our services in the years to come.

To meet this growing need, LADD is designing for the future. We are building a solid foundation by growing our endowment, the essential financial base that allows us to weather changes in public funding. Our Capital Campaign will support the construction of inspiring new residential and office spaces.

At the same time, we are increasing our outreach efforts — with events like the Run, Walk and Roll, where people of all abilities come together to contribute equally, and with new educational materials, some connected to the ReelAbilities Film Festival. We are aiming to reach schoolchildren, and families of young people entering adulthood, but also landlords, employers, media and the public at large — to shape the community into one that is ready for full integration of people with disabilities.

The people we serve work hard, building the skills to reach their aspirations; as a result, every day we see a new success story. With a good plan and hard work, we know that LADD can also achieve Success by Design.

• ReelAbilities is the nation's largest film festival dedicated to celebrating the stories, lives and art of people who experience disability.

• Largest film festival of any kind in Cincinnati.

The festival is part of LADD's long range design to prepare the community for full integration. It changes perceptions, brings people together, and demonstrates to the business and film community the untapped economic power of people with disabilities.

• Attracted nearly 2,000 audience members.

We have audited the accompanying consolidated financial statements of Living Arrangements for the Developmentally Disabled, Inc. and Subsidiary (a nonprofit organization), which comprise the consolidated statement of financial position as of December 31, 2013, and the related consolidated statement of activities, functional expenses and cash flows for the year then ended, and the related notes to the financial statements.

Management's Responsibility for the Financial Statements Management is responsible for the preparation and fair presentation of these consolidated financial statements in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America; this includes the design, implementation, and maintenance of internal control relevant to the preparation and fair presentation of financial statements that are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error.

Auditor's Responsibility Our responsibility is to express an opinion on these consolidated financial statements based on our audit. We conducted our audit in accordance with auditing standards generally accepted in the United States of America. Those standards require that we plan and perform the audit to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the consolidated financial statements are free of material misstatement.

An audit involves performing procedures to obtain audit evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the consolidated financial statements. The procedures selected depend on the auditor's judgment, including the assessment of the risk of material misstatement of the financial statements whether due to fraud or error. In making those risk assessments, the auditor considers internal control relevant to the entity's preparation and fair presentation of the financial statements in order to design audit procedures that are appropriate in the circumstances, but not for the purpose of expressing an opinion on the effectiveness of the entity's internal control. Accordingly, we express no such opinion. An audit also includes evaluating the appropriateness of accounting policies used and the reasonableness of significant accounting estimates made by management, as well as evaluating the overall presentation of the consolidated financial statements.

We believe that the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our audit opinion.

Opinion In our opinion, the consolidated financial statements referred to above present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of Living Arrangements for the Developmentally Disabled, Inc. and Subsidiary as of December 31, 2013, and the changes in their net assets and their cash flows for the year then ended in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America.

Report on Summarized Comparative Information We have previously audited Living Arrangements for the Developmentally Disabled. Inc. and Subsidiary's 2012 consolidated financial statements, and our report dated March 29. 201 3, expressed an unmodified opinion on those audited consolidated financial statements. In our opinion, the summarized comparative information presented herein as of an for the year ended December 31, 2012, is consistent, in all material respects, with the audited consolidated financial statements from which is has been derived.
