Go to the room in front of you which is Hero's room and open the chestcontaining <_Steamed Bun_> and <_Water Orb_>. Save your game before proceedingback to Courtyard and enter the door (Training Hall) next to Katarina. Afterthe cutscene, return to the harbor, go right and enter the gate that was notavailable earlier. Save and move forward for some cutscenes.

Light up all the torches as you go and after another cutscene, talkto everyone and head back and head all the way back(via Razril(Main Street))to speak to Chiepoo(catman) at the port. Save and go back to Razril(Square)and talk to your party about it. Choose two members to join Hero's party, Irecommend choosing Keneth as one of your members.

Head left(the path which the soldier mentioned there are pirates lurking) tothe next screen. You will encounter enemies along this route but not to worryas these enemies are weak. Fight your way without using or use a little runemagic. Keep on the West side and open the chest to receive a <_Mushroom_>.Head West immediately after collecting it and look at your map to see arectangle area on the West side. You will see a man near some crates. Talk to him and you are going to fightthe kidnapper and his underling.

Head to the harbor to meet Snowe before proceeding to Training Hall to meet upwith your members. You are going to do some training with the knights, pickany two characters you desire to train. Switch members and train again. Afterdeciding your party members, head to the harbor and before going out to sea, Isuggest you to buy some medicines for your party.

At the Port, head to the Rune Shop, passing Armor and Equipment Shop, andsearch the chairs on the left side for a <_Medicine_>.

Buy some Medicine(at least 15 medicines if you can afford it) for now. Keep therest to upgrade your weapons; you will be going there very soon. Buy a fewAntitoxin, Needle and other runes if you want to or later when you have moremoney. Now the only place left to explore is where the celebration took place.

Proceed to the back and you will see an Inn. Go in, search the bookshelves atthe East side to find another <_Treasure Map_>. Ok, now you can finally setsail on your first mission! Return back to the harbor and speak to the Gaiensoldier. You are given two missions, pick the 'delivering document' missionas you will earn more money and experience points.

After collecting that, access to the main menu and choose the Depart option toset sail. Move the left analog stick up to sail forward and down to stop theship. Press L1 button to change the camera view of the ship(choosing the 3rdperson view is a great choice). One quick note: press and hold R1 button tosail faster in world map or walk faster in towns/dungeons.

When you are near your destination make sure your ship is heading towards theport, or else your ship will be pushed away. This can be rather annoying asyou have to make one big turn before you can dock your ship.

Unlike in Suikoden 3, where the prices of individual items are displayed andupdated every time you talk to a trader, none of these variable informationare displayed in here. The only advice I could give is to trade with pearls toearn huge amount of cash. Since you don't have any pearls in your inventory,nor have enough cash to buy some pearls, leave the trading business for now.

I strongly recommend buying good armor for all members and sharpen all weaponsto the maximum level. If not, sharpen Hero and Snowe's weapons and buy goodarmor for all. Save your game at the inn and check the barrels in theSoutheast section to find a <_Treasure Map_>. There is also a Lottery Shophere, you can play this only if you have a lottery ticket.

Lottery tickets can be found by talking to people or making purchases in shopsHead out and go to the West side to talk to a man wearing in red clothing.Play a game with him before proceeding down the Back Street to find a<_Mushroom_> in the treasure chest and an <_Antitoxin_> at the East side nearthe barrels.

Head back out into the main area and proceed to the stairs in front, leadingyou to the Lord's Mansion. Once you reached at the top, move to the East areabefore passing the main gate to get a chest containing a <_Fancy Console_>. Goback to where your ship is docked and talk to the soldier to return to Razril.

After the battle, go back to Middleport to talk to the man and claim <_2000potch_>. Upgrade your party's weapons and buy armor if you didn't have enoughmoney to buy earlier and buy some Cough Drops too. Head back to Razril.

Enter the Courtyard for a cutscene. After that, head back to the harbor andSnowe leaves you. Take this opportunity to shop for medicines(buy at least 32medicines) and other goods(Antitoxin, Needle and runes, especially waterrunes). Head out from the shops and go forward.

At the second fork, head West to watch an interesting scene. Save and head tothe Courtyard entrance and speak to Snowe. Proceed to the Audience Chamber andspeak with Ramada.

Enter the Kitchen(Northwest)to get Commander's meal and enter the door nearest to you. Go up to Glen'sroom. Save and head out to the Courtyard to talk to your comrades and selectthe option to fight.

Go to the harbor to speak to the knight at Northwest section to get ready forbattle.

Assign Hero's ship carrying water rune and another rune you| | desire. Hero's ship should eliminate the ship carrying fire rune first| | and Snowe's ship should focus on the other since the number of | | underlings is much more than Hero's. | | | | Once one ship has gone down, move Hero's ship and attack the enemy's | | ship(carrying wind and fire) from the other side. However, if the | | number of underlings for Hero's ship is below 15, move his ship out of| | the enemy's firing range and focus Snowe's ship to attack. | ~+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+~

Once you are back in Razril, head to the Commander's room. Go back to yourroom and rest. The next morning, save and head back to the kitchen and takethe meal to Glen. After another cutscene, head out to the harbor and defeatthe pirates. Ignore Katarina's orders and go to the Commander's room to findthe door locked and proceed all the way to the top.

Run forward and fight a shadow at the end. After the cutscene, Hero receivedthe cursed Rune of Punishment and exiled from Razril.

Hero and his companions are going to collect wood, rope and coconuts. Coconutsare found in the West area(Edge of Island), ropes are scattered around thebeach and wood is found by examining the sparkling light on the tree trunk inDense Forest and Hill. Press L1 button to enter first person view if you havetrouble finding the sparkling light.

After you have completed your own task, head to the Subterranean Lake to catcha glimpse of a mermaid. Examine the sparkling light where she stood to receivea <_Lucky Ring_> and examine the glowing spot to fully restored your health.Head back out and if you need to buy some items, talk to Chiepoo. After that,enter the cave behind Chiepoo to rest.

Repeat the same process for two more days. On the second day, the mermaid willstay longer to talk to you for a bit before leaving a <_Water Amulet_> for youto pick up. On the third day, she will ask Hero some questions, I am not surechoosing the second option will make her hate you and not joining your partylater so it would be safer for you to pick the top option and she finallyhands over the <_Guard Ring_> after the conversation.

Finally, the ship has been fixed and you are ready to leave the island. Talkto your party to find Chiepoo is missing. After a bizarre cutscene, save andhead to Hill to prepare for a boss fight.

Run towards the light again to fight another shadow. After the scene, Hero'sRune of Punishment now has level 2 rune magic, Double Edged Sword. His runewill gain a new magic level each time Hero fights a shadow.

Take the only way up to the next screen. Head up once more to find a Rune Shopand equip a water rune to Chiepoo. The shop next to the Rune Shop is anEquipment Shop, buy some medicines, a few Jizo Clocks and Mega Medicines ifyou have some money left. The shop at the far end is an Inn. Save your game(choose "Yes, I'd like to rest." in order to save) before going up.

Head inside and talk to a man on your right for a long cutscene. You willreceive the Ruins Entry Permit. Head out from the palace and after anothercutscene, go East to the Cliff Path and enter the cave.

After some scenes, go up the stairs and enter the door to First Passageway. Goforward and up a small flight of stairs on the left to Hero's room. Sleep andwatch the scene. Save before heading out and go downstairs to talk to Desmondto get permission to use a ship. Talk to him the second time to organise yourparty.

Go to the Antechamber(where Setsu was earlier) and talk to an old woman on theEast side to receive a <_Seashell_>.

Right now you have two objectives; one is to go to the Obel Ruins to continueon with the story and the other is to explore other islands. I suggest youexplore the islands first to level up your characters, grab some items, earnmoney and also to start recruiting characters, since the enemies in the ruinsare quite tough if your characters are underleveled.

If you are going to do some exploring, head down to the dock and hop onto theship. Save when you are on the world map and sail North.

Take the nearby stairs and go up. Once you are on the second level, turn leftto find a <_Treasure Map_> in the chest. Turn right and go North until you seea slope on your left. The house next to the slope is the Village Chief's HouseGo in and search the shelves on the North section for a <_Treasure Map_>.

Head back out, turn left and go up the stairs. Go up another flight of stairs.Go up all the way to the top to find an Inn. Go in and enter the Northwestdoor to find a <_Treasure Map_> in the chest. Exit and search the bookshelveson the West side for an <_Old Book Vol. 6_>. Save your game if you want.

Now head all the way back to the harbor and instead of returning to your ship,go up the stairs on the left to the Stonecutter's Field.

Keep to the right and look for a huge boulder in front of a tree, there is achest behind the boulder containing a <_Treasure Map_>. You might encounterSavage Sprout and Demon Frog here; they don't give you much experience pointsbut they drop higher amounts of potch than the ordinary enemies encounteredhere.

If you want to fight them, use strong runes like Hero's Eternal Ordeal orKeneth's Soaring Bolt(level 3). Cast protective spells on your party as well.Continue forward and cross the long bridge to Nay Kobold Settlement.

Once you reach, go North to a Lottery Shop. On the left is a Warehouse thatcannot be entered until later in the game. Further ahead is a Trading Post, goin and speak to the man wearing copper brown jacket and allow him to join yourparty. Head to the far right to find an Appraiser Shop and a chest containinga <_Lightning Orb_>.

Take a dip in there to restore your health. Go West, moving along the shortspiral path and examine under the tree for the last <_Treasure Map_>. LeaveNay Island and head East to Na-Nal Island.

This perhaps is the most irritating and tedious task to recruit a person. Youcan play as much as you like until you are out of potch and that is when youloses. Every time you win or lose, Rita will ask if you want to settle thescore, make sure that your score is higher than hers before settling a score.If not, you have to pay for your losses.

If you score is higher, settle it and she loses. Win three rounds and she willadmit defeat. Talk to her once more to allow her to join your party finally.

Go back to the fork and head right. There is an Equipment Shop on the leftside, buy any items you need. Go forward to the Open-air Bath and take a dipin. Be sure to talk to the man wearing in purple clothing to learn about aRune Master in this island.

Go all the way back, past the Equipment Shop and turn left to the next screen.

Turn right at where the two elderly women are standing, this path leads you toan Armor Shop. Buy the best armor for your party if possible and search thewooden crates at the left for a <_Treasure Map_>. Also, talk to the manwearing in yellow before leaving the shop. Go back, head North and turn rightto a Rune Shop. Search the cabinet for the last <_Treasure Map_>.

Go out and head forward to speak to a man covered in bandages. He wants you topunish a girl wearing in red. Go North and talk to her to duel.

Once you beat her, she and Reinhold will join your party. The rightmost pathleads to the jail area, in the middle path is the path to eleven settlementwith nothing to pick up. On the left leads to the Chief's house. Open thetreasure chest for a <_Stone of Strength_>. Head back, heal yourself at thehot bath if necessary and leave the island.

Once you are on the world map, I suggest you upgrade your characters' weaponsto level 7 in Nay Island and stop by Mordo Island to heal and sell your pearlsat 7000 potch each if you wish before returning to Obel.

So instead of heading North (where the Golden Hammer was), head East and youwill find a chest almost immediately, containing a <_One-Piece Dress_>. GoEast twice to the next two screens, follow the path, head up the stairs and goEast in the middle of the path. There is a chest containing a <_Window Set 2_>

Head back and go up the stairs to the top to save. Go right, past the linearpath and head East at the intersection and open the chest for a <_MegaMedicine_>. Now head back to the save point(in case you forgot, go West to thenext screen and past the linear path) and save your game.

Finally, take the North path and go North for a boss battle.

Head forward and talk to the woman for a cutscene. After that,search the bottom of the tree for a <_Treasure Map_>. Now try to leave thisplace.

After you have defeated the Guard for good, Rikie and Rakgi join your party.Head back to your headquarters to save, rest or change your party or supportcharacters if you wish(remove Louise from your support party so you canrecruit another character).

Along the way, you will meet Manu standing near the entrance to the Cave. Hecan bring you over to the dock area instantly. Now that's a handy "Quick Jump"option.

By now, you should have recruited 10 characters(party, support, etc.), so headto the dock and board your ship. You will soon see the mermaid who you met inDeserted Island calling for help. Once you are on the world map, sail towardsthe white circle shown on the map to fight an easy battle against the nastymerchants.

Fight them for two rounds and when they try to escape, select the option tosink their ship. After the events, Lilin joins your party and head back toObel to encounter a familiar pirate.

After defeating them, return back to the palace and after the conversation,save your game and go to your headquarters. The Kooluks have arrived, there isno choice but to use the rune. Prepare to defend Obel in the navy battle.

Run forward and defeat another shadow. After the scene, you awake in Hero'sroom, head to the Saloon 2F for a scene and go out to the Cliff Path foranother scene. Looks like the Kooluks don't intend to give up, return back tothe headquarters and enter the War Room on second floor.

Head to the town and talk to the man wearing in green walking near theEquipment Shop to recruit him, speak to the two women below the Smithy toallow them to join as well. Be sure to talk to Adrienne near the Trading Shopand Yu beside the Appraiser Shop.

Head to the dock area and speak to the man wearing in blue. Once Flaresuggests to head back, stock up medicines and other items before heading backto the Cliff Path. Flares leaves you, so head on to War Room to continue.

After some cutscenes, talk to everyone on board and try to enter the Bridge.After another scene, anchor your ship to explore the various levels. I willupdate when a new shop has opened.

I suggest you switch some of your party characters; put Sigurd into your basicparty permanently because he uses long-ranged weapon, has a high attack anddefense ratings and is good in water magic which is VERY useful later in thegame, you can also put Kika and Hervey in your party if you wish.

Once you have assigned your party, equipped armor and sharpen their weapons tolevel 7. Time to do some recruiting.

Rest in Hero's room. Tov will mention about a Forbidden Room, go to 5th floorand enter the first door on the left and Mao joins your party. Rest in Hero'sroom again and Tov will complain the same thing, head to the same room andthis time, Nao joins you.

Go to the Bulletin Board and read about Bartholomew in the First Issue beforeheading to Nay Island.

Time to do some recruiting! Pick up the Message Bottle on the far East side ofthe beach area and make your way to the Nay Kobold Settlement.

When you are about to cross the suspension bridge, Viki will appear brieflybefore teleporting again. Cross the bridge to Nay Kobold Settlement and exitimmediately, she should be waiting for you to recruit her at the other end ofthe bridge. She also hands over the Glowing Hand Mirror; this Glowing Mirrorcan be used anywhere, anytime, even on a ship. Now return back to Nay KoboldSettlement.

Speak to Bang at the Lottery Shop to recruit him and enter the Residence(greenhouse) and talk to Bartholomew to recruit him as well. Use the Hand Mirror toteleport back to the ship. Since you have recruited Viki, you can now teleportto any places you have been before. So teleport to Na-Nal Island.

Head back to your ship. Talk to Ugetsu at Rear Deck for a short scene. Afterthe scene, Shiramine joins you.

Make sure you have a flower seed in your inventory and put Mizuki in yourparty and sail North to Iluya Island(the area there should be raining and youwill encounter new enemies as well).

Head right at the second fork and then left at the next. Talk to Kate torecruit her. Return back and go forward to the centre and speak to the manstanding there. After he joins, take the left path, turn right, go forward abit and turn left, turn right and finally turn left to get an <_Old BookVol. 7_>.

Leave the island and sail to Deserted Island; it is at the centre of the worldmap.

Save your game and chase after Snowe's ship (head to Razril). You will have achoice to make, choose the second option to continue. You can choose otheroptions to view a different scene but make sure you SAVE your game first.

After the events, teleport to Nest of Pirates. Leave and enter the islandagain by ship, Lilon will show up near the island. After the conversation,Lilon joins the party. Teleport to Iluya Island next. Go forward and head takethe nearby stairs down, talk to Liloon to recruit this final mermaid.

Once you are ready, teleport to Nest of Pirates, leave and sail Northwest toHermitage Island.

A quick note: Equip the best armor for Dario from your inventory , it is notnecessary to sharpen his weapon unless you did not train up Sigurd or Hervey.Save your game before proceeding to Hermitage Island.

Head into the cave and pick up the Green Bottle and Crest on the table. Headbehind and examine the shelf at the right side for a <_Treasure Map_>. Returnback to Elenor's house and speak to Agnes. After some conversation, Elenorjoins your party.

Now you can take the other door which Agnes had locked previously, examine thestove(top left corner) for a <_Crab Bun_>. Leave through the North exit. Afteranother conversation, Agnes joins your party too.

Examine the well right in front of the door for an <_Earth Orb_>. The treasurechest at the West section contains a <_Copper Hammer_>, enter the hut behindthis chest to find another chest containing a <_Treasure Map_>. Take the Northexit amd go all the way back to your ship.

Speak to Desmond to re-organise your party. I highly recommend you add Lino,Viki/Jeane in your party too. Save your game and once you are ready, head tothe War Room.

You will have a duel with Lino. There is no way to avoid this duel so choosewhichever option you want.

If you encounter Wild Leaves instead, that means Gau willnot appear in that area(I'm not 100% sure about this, though. >_<)

You will then play a mini-game to retrieve back the seal. Nalkul and Champowill then "officially" join your party. Teleport to Mordo Island next.

After you defeated the trio, Lo Seng, Lo Fong and Lo Hak join your party.Re-enter Mordo Island and talk to the guy in green pants to recruit Igor. Dipin the hot spring if you wish and head back to your ship. Enter Hero's roomand talk to the two men to recruit Jango and Brec.

I recommend you start training characters who can use long-ranged weapons likeSigurd or Lo Hak and good magic casters like Viki and Jeane. I recommend aparty like this: Hero, Sigurd, Viki, Lo Hak/Jeane, Sigurd and Viki shouldequip a water rune.

Train them up to level 37, the best place to train them is sailing the seanear Iluya Island fighting the Red Rays and Spiny Geckos; these enemies gavefairly good amounts of experience points. Once you are ready, enter the WarRoom to continue.

It also do a ram attack that| | damages 60-80 HP for all or a blast attack that causes 50-90 HP damage| | for all too. The tentacle damages 50 HP to one character. | | | | Hero should defend until all the tentacles are down. After that, teleport to NayIsland, head to the inn and take the Southwest door to talk to the man inyellow about a strong woman appeared in Middleport. You need this informationto recruit her later.

Leave and enter the Northwest door and speak to Gareth, he will give you theRose Crest. Teleport back to Middleport and speak to Reinbach, he and Mickyjoin your party. Put Reinbach in your party and head to the inn in Middleport.Talk to the woman on the right, Helga joins your party.

Head up the central stairs to the Lord's Mansion and talk to Etienne torecruit him.

Teleport to Dauntless and enter Middleport by ship to talk to Charlemagne torecruit him as well(you need to do this 2-3 times). Teleport to Nay Island(make sure Reinbach is STILL in your party) and speak to Gareth in the inn torecruit him too.

Oskar should have joined your party by now, so check to see if his name is onthe list. Rest, remove Reinbach from your party if you want and save your gameOnce you are ready, enter the War Room.

After the Robed man asked you theSECOND time, heal up your characters to full before moving on as you are aboutto face another tough boss.

Once you gain control of Hero, open the chest for an <_Old Book Vol. 4_> andexamine the bed to rest. Take the middle path to the Elven Settlement, goNorth all the way and take the Elven Remedy from the altar. Leave this placeand after another cutscene, go back to the harbor to meet Selma.

After another scene, talk to everyone to continue. Leave the altar and headback to the town square. Fight the soldiers for three rounds and after that,Axel joins your party.

Now head to the harbor to talk to Selma standing near the Trading Post torecruit her too. Leave the island and head West to Nay Island.

Head to the inn to talk to Eugene to recruit him. Teleport to Middleport andtalk to a man wearing a brown jacket and beige-coloured pants standing infront of the Trading Post about a girl named Millay and teleport to Na-NalIsland Harbor. Go North to trigger a fight with some men. An easy fight.

After that, Millay joins your party.

Once you are ready, head to the War Room. Finally you are about to reclaimRazril, teleport to Middleport, leave and sail to Razril. Before you are ableto land in Rzril, there will be an easy ship battle waiting for you.

Head to the Hall of Knights-Courtyard. You can rest and save in Hero's room ifyou wish, proceed to the Training Hall for some scenes.

Fight the Gaien soldiers to continue and after some cutscenes, time to collectthe remaining chests in the afternoon. Turn around and head back to theCourtyard. Open the chest for a <_Silver Hammer_> on the right, head to theTraining Hall to get a chest containing a <_Hero's Shield_>.

Leave and enter the Hallway, go to the Kitchen to recruit Funghi. Leave and goup the stairs to the top to get the last chest containing <_Treasure Map_> and<_Guardian Bracelet_>.

Head back to the Port(where the shops are) and go straight, Hero's friendswill have a quick chat and a short scene with Katarina too. Make sure you havegrabbed all the treasure chests that appeared in the afternoon because this isthe only time to get them.

Once you are ready, head to your room to rest. In the next morning, go up thestairs to the top to speak to Ameria and she will join your party. Head to thePort to do some shopping and recruiting as well. Talk to Gretchen standing infront of the Armor Shop to recruit her.

Go into the Equipment Shop and talk to Frederica on the right too. Head to theBack Street and look for a large area(remember where the little girl waskidnapped before), you will see a man with tattoos on his body, talk to himand Karl joins your party.

Now, save your game and talk to Rakgi to board your ship. After another scene,

it is time for another ship battle.

After that easy battle, you will have a choice to make. Select the secondoption to continue. Put Katarina in your party and go back to Razril, headinto the inn and talk to the man on the left, Konrad joins your party.

Re-organise your party and teleport to Na-Nal Island Square, go North andspeak to the woman in dark purple-red clothing(ignore the blonde-haired manfor now) to trigger a fight.

Teleport to Razril Port Town and speak to Maxine in the inn to recruit herfinally. Put Mitsuba in your party and teleport to Na-Nal Island Square, goforward and speak to the blonde-haired man, Jeremy joins your party.

Teleport to Hermitage Island, leave and sail to Nest of Pirates.

Assign three ships carrying lightning and wind cannon, I strongly recommendyou assign Jeane's lightning rune to Hero's ship and Maxine's wind/cyclonerune to Kika's ship.

Naval Battle: For Obel's Freedom ~+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+~ ~ | Rune Cannons: Wind and Earth, Lightning and Water | ~ | | | Focus Hero's ship to attack the ship carrying lightning and water | | cannons and the Gaien ship to attack the other. After some scenes, choose the option to wait and talk to the pirate standingbeside Colton to receive <_Pirate King Bracers_>. Speak to Elenor to continue.

Use the Punishment rune on those ships and after some scenes, Hero will be ina familiar place(it has been a while, eh?). Head forward to fight anotherfamiliar person's shadow, you will gain the Punishment rune fourth level spellEverlasting Mercy, which is the only spell that doesn't hurt him for now.

Leave your room, re-organise your party(put Yu in as your support member),talk to Nico at the top level of the Deck(where Mizuki and Akaghi are) andteleport to Obel Harbor. Time to do some recruiting.

Go up and speak to Gunter on the right, he will join your party too. Turn leftand speak to a man in black clothing near the inn, Trishtan joins your party.

Go up to the Garden and speak to Gary and Ema, both of them join your party.Go into the palace and head to the Audience Chamber and speak to Noah behindthe throne. Select the first option twice and choose the second option thethird time, she will join your party.

Teleport back to Dauntless, put Cedric in as your support, buy an EscapeTalisman if you don't have any and teleport to Obel Royal Palace. Head towhere the headquarter was originally located and talk to the red-haired girl,pay 5000 potch and Rachel joins.

Change your support member if you want and head to the Obel ruins.

Head to where Rikie was before and talk to Travis, he wants you to use theEscape Talisman. Use it and you will be brought to the ruin entrance. Teleportback to your ship to rest if necessary and head back to where Travis is andrecruit him.

After you have recruited Travis and save your game, you can fight the AngelHairball here if you wish. Make sure two of your party members have the fourthlevel spell so that you can use combo magic command. I found that water andlightning combo magic(Thunder God)is useful as it also heals all your partymembers' HP to full.

I recommend bringing strong magic casters like Jeane, Viki, Maxine or Ted.

After the battle, go in and talk to Warlock to recruit him. Teleport toDauntless and re-enter Middleport by ship, enter the Empty House and talk toPecola on the right to recruit her as well.

You should have 107 Stars of Destiny members now, so head to Mordo Island torecruit the last one. Talk to the man who gives you trading tips and he willtell you he saw a person floating near the island.

Leave the island and sail West. You will see Snowe dressed in rags, give him achance to join your party and he will finally join in as the last member ofStars of Destiny.

Before going on to finish the game, it's time to start training for Hero'sparty and another party(Detachment Party) consists of four members too. Referto the Sidequests section for more information about training.

Strong characters should be in Hero's party and include a healer in too, asfor the Detachment party, choose someone who is strong in physical attack ormagic attack and also include a healer.

If you want to play this game the second time, UNEQUIP any equipment and

REMOVE any runes you like to be kept in your inventory so that these items canbe brought over to the New Game. The potch is also automatically brought over.

Here is a checklist to help you prepare for the final battle:

2. Unequip any equipment and remove any runes you like to be brought over to the Next Game. |_|

3. Certain armor, which belong to a set(ie: Guardian Set, Pirate King Set and Hero Set) and Great Earth Armor cannot be brought over. In that case, equip them for maximum defense power for the final battle. |_|

4. Buy lots of mega medicines(especially if you had removed the Flowing Rune) and other status-curing items(Needle, Cough Drop, etc.) and Jizo Clocks for the upcoming battles and to be brought over to the Next Game. |_|

5. Buy any runes(Killer and Violence Orb), equipment(armor that is made from diamond or platinum) and accessories(Power Rings, Speed Rings) you like to equip on both Hero's and Detachment party. Also, buy some of them to be brought over to the Next Game. |_|

6. Sharpen weapons to the maximum for both Hero's and Detachment Party. |_|

7. Refer to the Sidequests section to grab some very useful items(Prosperity Orb, higher rune magic orbs, etc.). |_|

8. Champion Orb cannot be brought over to the next game, so equip it to one of Hero's party. |_|

9. Train Hero's party to level 63. |_|

10. Talk to Tov to use the Ocean Rune Pieces to upgrade your ships' shooting distance, mobility or armoring. |_|

11. Equip a Wind rune for Maxine and a Water rune for Warlock, especially if you have removed the Cyclone and Flowing rune from them.

12. (Optional)In case there is a painting or an ornament that you like, remove them from Hero's room(if you have displayed them) to be put in your inventory.

Head to the Deck to watch a scene and go to the War Room. After theconversation, talk to Elenor to decide on the detachment party and Hero'sparty. I chose Viki, Millay, Helmut, Ted and Yu as the support member.

You can still teleport to other locations to do some sidequests and trainingif you want. Once you are ready, head to Hero's room to rest. The next morningbefore speaking to Elenor, this is your LAST chance to teleport to otherplaces and do some sidequests.

Once you are ready and no longer desire to do anything else other thancontinuing on the story, speak to Elenor in the War Room to proceed. You canstill do some "sidequests" on the ship like reading old books, play mini-gamesat the Saloon Bar 1F, grows mint and mushroom, or do some training in theTraining Hall.

Here are some people who will have a short scene or dialogue scene:

Go all the way to the end and examine the Governor's corpse for a <_Cape ofDarkness_>. Go back to the first floor and up to the second floor. There is alocked door in the centre leading to the Stairs, behind it is another chestguarded by an Angel Hairball. If the Detachment party is not strong enough todefeat it, leave it to Hero's party.

Go up to the third floor and head North to the end, take the left path to geta <_Goddess Robe_> from the chest. Head back to the staircase and go up to thefourth floor, go North all the way and take the right path for a chestcontaining <_Mixed Herbs_>, <_Mega Medicine_> and <_Fortune Orb_>.

Heal, unequip any armor you like and use mushrooms to replenish your magic ifneeded before entering the nearby door to the Control Room.

Boss Battle: Graham Cray

Equip blue ribbons or Skunk Orb on characters that you wish to train so thatno enemies will target them unless they are the only one standing or specialattacks that attack all.

The best place to train your characters is at the Training Hall. There arefive stages to clear, the first three stages are easy and give you littleexperience points, the fourth and last stage give you lots of experiencepoints, depending on your current levels. However, you will not get any itemsor potch when training here.

Before attempting the stages, make sure that one party member has either theFlowing Rune(obtained from Treasure Map no. 4 or removed from Warlock) or hasgained the fouth level spell.

This is because at fourth or fifth stage, the opponents you faced will casthigh magic spells(it will be disastrous if one opponent casts Earthquake andknocked out your party), so cast Silent Lake to prevent them and your party tocast magic temporary. Heal using items and if you are able to cast Silent Lakethe second time, cast it again.

For the first three stages, using melee attacks is sufficient.

The prizes are Fury Orb(character is in berserk status at the start of thebattle) for completing the stages for the first time and Slash Orb(Release option is changed to Flashes option; instantly kills the enemies) forconsecutive times.

Talk to Rene at the Dauntless(level 4) to get her to analyse the treasure mapsyou have collected. If you talk to her for the first time, she will analysethe first map and direct you to go to Donut Island.

Once there, she will explain how to find the location of the buried treasure.After finding the first treasure, talk to Rene again for her to analyse theremaining maps.

It would be a good idea to get the Champion Orb(Treasure Map no. 16) firstbefore collecting the remaining treasures. In this way, you can eliminate theenemy encounters(weak enemies) when looking for hard-to-pinpoint locations inthose islands.

The first one is in Kooluk Base, behind a well. Cast Silent Lake and usecombo attacks, it helps a lot if you have Snowe in your party to do the TrueFriends combo attack. You will receive a <_Guardian Garb_> after defeating it.

Another one is in Destroyed Town, behind some debris in Southwest area. Afterdefeating the first one, teleport back to Dauntless to rest(to replenish your

spells) and save your game before finishing off the second one. You willreceive a <_Hero's Armor_> after defeating the final Angel Hairball.

Ancient Crab in Deserted Island where you fought with the Boss Crab and WildCrabs. If you had defeated the Killer Golem earlier, the Ancient Crab shouldbe easy as its HP and defense power is much lower.

Rare runes like Rage, Flowing and etc. are not for sale in Item or EquipmentShops. Some members, however, have these rare runes which I recommend you toremove from them unless you are using them.

Once you have Prosperity Orb(defeating the Golden Hairball in Mountain MassIsland and removed from Lo Seng, multiply the potch gained by two), equip oneon your party members(even if you equip two runes, the potch gained is stilldoubled).

The best place to earn potch is in Obel Ruins(remove the Champion Rune if yourparty is at level 60), 2 Skeletons and 1 Unicorn Zombie nets you for 10,600potch and 2 Skeletons and 2 Unicorn Zombies nets you for 14,000 potch.

If you get a fortune ring and kill in the tunnel were the golem is you willfind enemies more powerfull after you reconquer the town and the money you getwill be around 10.000-12000 easy and there are enemies wich give more.

On the deserted island at the very end of the game with fortune ring you cankill the ancient crab unlimited amounts of times and gain something like20.000 to 30.000 coins and the other enemies give up to 16.000 with the ring.

I easily made in short amount of time 30.000-50.000 coins in a short time inthe spot of the ancient crab and you can mostlikely also kill the super golemover and over and get 30.000 plus if equipped maybe 60.000.

Oh by the way if you run away i think you loose your chance from ever killingthe ancient crab or the super golem again.

Buy Mega Medicines(about 75) or Medicines if you wish at the various shops,and if you can spare 120,000 potch, head to Razril Equipment Shop and buy sixPower Rings. Equip three on both Hero and Snowe; this will boost their comboattacks greatly.

Buy Speed Rings for your healers too. You can buy the bargain items at variousshops(except for Dauntless) too if you want.

GETTING THE CONFESSION ROOM

To have the confession room built on your ship you need only do one thing,and that is to recruit Keen. To get Keen you must simple bring Sigurd with youto Middleport when you try to recruit them to your cause, or anytime afterwards.Keen will be standing in a corner in the left on the dock screen. Speak to himwith Sigurd in your party and they will have a conversation and then Keen willleave. After you finish your business in town go back to your ship and takeSigurd out of your party. Re-enter Middleport and Keen should be in the samespot and when spoken to he'll say that he'll join your group for 10,000 potch.Pay up and he'll join. Once he joins you'll be able to find the confessionroom on the 4th Deck in the back left.

Nalkul/Champo===========Nalkul and Champo become available after Lino En Kuldes entrusts you with the Golden Seal. Land on the Nay Harbor. Cheipoo will want to visit the trade shop in Nay Kobold. Visit it and cross the suspension bridge. You will be pickpocketed. Corner the theives(Nalkul and Champo) near the Nay-Kobold Warehouse and play the Cat and Mouse minigame to get the Golden Seal back. Both Nalkul and Champo become unavailable after Lino En Kuldes takes back the Golden Seal.

Ted===The Fog Ship sidequest is available after you retake Razril and you have 70 Stars of Destiny or more. Simply enter the War Room (alone) and a cutscene should trigger. You will be able to take Lino En Kuldes, 1 other combatant, and a support character onto the Fog Ship. I'd recommend you be on level 40 or so before attempting.

Helmut=====Helmut appears within the story of the game. Just choose to recruit him, rather than execute him.

Snowe

=====You cannot get Snowe without first gathering the other 107 Stars of Destiny. Alternating if you chose to execute him, he will not join, since he's dead.

Treasure Map #10=============In the kidnapper quest in Razril at the very beginning of the game, be sure to check the crates behind the kidnapped girl, during the evening. You can get the Treasure Map before you decide to talk to Cheipoo to hear about the kidnapper, however. Just be sure to get it!

Treasure Map #12==============After being exiled and you appear on a merchant ship with Colton and Troy, be sure to check the table in the Cabin for the Treasure Map.

Treasure Map #23==============After being exiled and the merchant ship, you will be picked up by the Obel patrol ship. Be sure the check the table in that Cabin as well for a TreasureMap.

NTRO <> INTRODUCTION <>

The purpose of this FAQ is to provide information on the various Runes and the affinity of each character to the respective rune. Each character has thier own inherent skill with each of the 5 elemental rune properties found in Suikoden IV which is not reflected on the characters in-game MAG statistic. Also this inherent compatibility is not visible on any character statistic screen, it is a hidden statistic.

The inherent combatibility is based on 4 levels. 1 to 4 stars from here on referenced by a "*" symbol to represent each level of affinity.

* - bad** - average *** - good**** - excellent

For example:

this is based on both characters have an identical MAG stat and equipped with the same elemental rune

Snowe who has a Lightning Rune Elemental Affinity of *and Jeane who has a Lightning Rune Elemental Affinity of ****

In the circumstances of both Jeane and Snowe both equiped with a Lightning Rune having both an identical MAG in the same battle both casting the same spells.Jeane will always do more damage because her Affinity with Lightning is higherthen Snowe with a rating of **** and thus Jeane is better suited for using Lightning Magic then Snowe simply because the affinity is naturally higher. The point of this is if you are going to equip a elemental magic rune on a character, thier MAG stat has some consideration on the power of the spell but it would not be worthwhile to equip a Earth rune on a character with * affinity with Earth, when he/she has **** affinity for Fire. Then again multiple Rune slots are for diversity ofcourse.

Also not only does a higher affinity increase the attack/healing power of the spell, with a higher affinity spells are more likely to be casted quicker

without any delay before any enemy attackers get the chance to strike first.

I tested this extensively by a cheat device and providing my characters with a infinite supply of "Stone of Magic" items, to alter thier statisticsaccordingly to make it so they all have identical MAG stats. Then used variousRunes in same situations to provide concise evidence that a Affinity is presentand has a factor on effects of the spells. Most of the time characters with level * Affinity compared to a level **** Affinity would do cast thier spells slower and doing considerably less damage then the character with a **** rank.

ERCS <> Elemental Rune Combination Spells <>

In the event when two or more party members in battle have level 4 Elemental Magic Runes equipped and level 4 spell MPavailable. Depending on the Runes, Combination Spells can becasted. There are 5 elemental combination spells in all with two effects per spell. Some doing damage to enemies and healing the entire party simultaneously. Here is a list of all 5 Elemental combination spells and thier effects.

Note that the required magic is listed in order to createthe combination spell to be casted in Battle.

New Game +

First, you need to beat the game and start a new game using the cleared data on your memory card. You can play through the game again with all of the items and money (Minus any armor or runes you had equipped to your party during the final battle) you earned the first time through, and you also gain the option to choose a new party leader. This person will replace Hero IV as your on-screen character in the field.

Obtain Snowe's different oufits.

After you get Snowe to rejoin you, you will be able to find his three outfits he wore earlier in the game. ( Pirate outfit, Aristocat oufit, and Knight outfit ) To get the pirate outfit go to the Illuya island sea, set up a net by talking to Shiramine on the rear deck, depart the ship, and leave the ship just sitting in the water. You will have no random encounters and your net will fill up every 5-10 minutes. For the aristocat outfit do the same thing, except go to the Pirate's nest sea. For the knight outfit do the same, but instead go to the Razril sea. Keep in mind this may take about 30 minutes for each outfit. To change Snowe's outfits talk to him on the deck and choose the 2nd option.

Obtaining the most useful/powerful mage in the game: Ted

After collecting 70 stars of Destiny, go into the War Room BEFORE liberating Obel. You must go in by yourself, and a scene will activate. You will go through a fog ship, fighting some pretty hard enemies, so be prepared. Make sure you save most of your

Suikoden I type army battle

Go through the Nao mint growing process three times and Nao will say the mushrooms are invading the mints. Then, you are taken to a Suikoden I type army battle. You could choose between Charge, Arrow, Magic, or Other. You can repeat this process as many times as you want.

Early Ending

You can end your game early in the game, when you are washed up on the shore of the Deserted Island. When you are given the choice to try to leave or stay, choose to stay. It'll take some convincing for your team to finally give in, but when they do you can't leave. All you can do is the surviving tasks over and over and over again. Check the portraits of your teamates, they have changed.

Early Leveling Trick

After the battle with Troy and Colton, turn around and you will see two Kooluk soldiers guarding the steps to the upper deck. Face one of these soldiers, and using a turbo controller initiate a battle. Turn the turbo on and tape down the x button. Your characters will automatically go through the fight by the turbo function. When the fight ends the turbo function will initiate a fresh battle with this stupid soldier who NEVER moves! Now turn off the TV and goto sleep, and see what happens when you wake up! :)

Be careful of your characters levels. When they level up they will obviously regain max HP, but if they're not strong enough and you turn your back on the game, they may die while fighting. I began this at level 13, and never had problems with any of my characters living(Hero, Chiepoo, Jewel, Paula).

Early Quick level up!

Before going on a patrol mission, you meet up with Snowe at the dock then he tells you that Tal and the others are waiting in the training hall, go there. Continue and you will fight a single knight, then you'll be asked to change party members. Pick Kenneth among the fighters and use his rune againts the 2 knights. Next Snowe will ask you if you decided the best group, choose I Can't Decide then you'll be asked again to choose members. Do not remove Kenneth because you have an unlimited use of his lightning rune. Keep doing this again and again it should give you a high amount of xp without having a sweat

Easy Money

After recruiting Warlock, return to the underground passageway where you recruited him. Fight the boss there as many times as you want. Each time you defeat the Land Dragon you will obtain 8,000 Potch. Use the Hand Mirror to return to your ship. Go back to the Land Dragon and fight him again, repeat the process until you are satisfied.

Second premature ending

The second ending is also a premature ending (first is choosing to stay on the Deserted Island), after the second naval battle when you're liberating Obel, choose not to use the Rune of Punishment three times, and the game will end.
