Sullivan College of Technology and Design (SCTD), part of the SullivanUniversity system, is located in Louisville Kentucky. It is the philosophyof SCTD to:

“provide an atmosphere of creative challenge for eachstudent. The awakening of a design to design, to create, andto develop is one of our major goals. In pursuit of these goals,students are challenged to develop their individual abilitiesand social responsibilities.” (catalog and student handbook,2016-2017)

In light of that philosophy, the Interior Design Program sought andreceived CIDA accreditation in 2015. Our IIDA Campus Center isthere to help inspire the future for our students as well is givingback to our community. We bring out students together to educate,and charity events related to IIDA Community.

We stress to our students how important it is to be a part of a great organization and we want to make sure that everyone in our department feels welcome.Wewantensurethatstudentshaveastrongandcurrentfoundationinindustrybasicsandanunderstandingofthelatesttrends/directionswithintheInteriorDesignfield.

PresidentIsresponsibleforoverseeingtheorigination’sflowandprogression.Dutiesincludeplanningandorganizingeventsandmeetings,,andcontinuouslymotivateallstudents.PresidesoverIIDAmeetings.Callsspecialofficermeetings.Appointsnewpositionsasneeded.Attendsandnetworksatlocalprofessionalchaptermeetings.Representsthecampuscenteratofficialfunctions.MaintainscontactwithIIDAfaculty/non-studentadvisor,IIDAcampuscenteralumni,affiliatedinteriordesigndepartment,andIIDA.VicePresidentAssumesdutiesofthepresidentasneeded.Plansofficerorientationandcampuscentermeetings.Coordinatesorganizationalmembershiprecruitmentefforts.Representsthecampuscenteratofficialfunctions.Coordinateselections.Helpswritethenewsletterwiththesecretary.

PublicRelationsDirectorMaintainssocialnetworkingoutlets(website,Facebook,Twitter,Instagram,etc.).Networkswiththestudentcommunity.Notifiesmembersofmeetings.Makeflyersandpostersforeventanddesignsshirtsorwhateverisneed.Treasurer/MembershipDirectorKeepsallfinancialrecordsofcampuscenter.Collectseventfees.Preparesandsubmitsfinancialreportsandanannualbudgettochapter.Coordinatesallaccounting,budgetingandeventplanning,andfundingforspecificcampuscentereventswithchapter.Coordinatesfundraisingdrives.Representsthecampuscenteratofficialfunctions.PlansandconductsfallandspringsemesterMembershipdrives.ThepresidentandIIDAadvisorwillhaveabankaccountinhisorhernamewithIIDAFunds.Youwillworkinsharingthecardwiththepresidentandmakesureyouknowthepinnumberaswell.

BudgetIn2013whenwebecameacampuscenterwehad$200inouraccount.Duringthenextcoupleofyearsweremainedunder$500.AsofMarch2017thebalanceshows$700.

Mullion and Muntin (Mentor Program) In 2014, the Interior Design Program instituted a program calledMullions and Muntins. It was designed to give new students someoneto ask for help, to learn their way around school, and to serve as amentor.

A MULLION “Big” – is assigned to the ‘elders’ who have been in theInterior Design Program for 4 quarters or more. A mullion in theInterior Design Program denotes that a student gets to become a rolemodel to a new student entering into the program. As a mullion,students essentially become advisors throughout their time in college.It is a way for new students to feel secure by having someone helpthem ‘learn the ropes’.

Muntin “Little” – In order to be a muntin a student would have to bestarting the Interior Design Program at SCTD and would be assigneda mullion from the department chair of the program. The bondbetween mullion and muntin is very special and often times a lifetimefriendship is forged.

It has been a very successful program and the elder Mullion studentslook forward to receiving their Muntin each fall quarter.

Marketing

Ourstudentsfindoutaboutinformationhappeningintheiremail,socialmediaaccountsandtheboardthathangsaroundourcampusforcampushappenings.Onceamonthwehavealocaldesignercomespeaktoourstudents.

Branding

OurstudentswanttomakesurethecommunityknowswhoSCTDCampusCenteris.Thereforwehavecreatedashireandhalfziptoweartoeventsandmakethecommunityawareofwhoweare.

MARKETING

Future Outlook

The lastyearwasourbiggest yearwehavehadsince becomingacampuscenter.Wehavealwaysfocusedonhowwecanbecomeclosewitheachother,wearegoingtocontinuefeeling ofafamily.Wearehopingtogrowourfundsevenmoresowecangivebacktoourcommunityevenmoretheourlastyear.Wehavehopethatwehaveandwillinspire allofourstudents tobethebestdesignertheycanbe.Wearelookingtocontinuetogrowandputusonthemapasagreat,creativecampuscenter.
