Tanya Ridpath Director of Community ProgramsCommunity Programs is excited to welcome summer visitors from near and far to Roanoke College’s beautiful campus. This is Tanya’s fifth year overseeing Summer Camps and Conferences. How does she do it? With lots of help of course. Tanya is delighted to introduce the 2019 summer staff to the Roanoke College community. Along with the summer staff, she relies on many departments across campus for a coordinated effort. Thank you for your commitment and partnership with Community Programs to provide a welcoming and enjoyable experience for our summer guests. During the academic year, Tanya coordinates other programs such as many endowed lectures, the Elderscholar program, President’s Ball, Women’s Forum, and assists with other events on campus and within the Roanoke region. Tanya received a Master of Science in communication from Radford University and a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Tech, and brings over 18 years of higher education event planning experience.

Meet the Staff

Catriona Brunnemann Summer Conference ManagerCatriona is a rising senior at Roanoke College studying sociology. Before coming to Salem, she lived in New Mexico, South Dakota, California, Guam, and Utah. Last year she spent a semester abroad studying history and archaeology in Yucatan, Mexico. Catriona received a work study position in Community Programs through the Roanoke College fellows program her freshman year. She has also worked with Summer Conferences for the past two years; first as an assistant, then as co-manager. She is excited to return for a third year to continue gaining experience as Summer Conference Manager. During the academic year, she also works for Roanoke College’s Campus Recreation department as a POUND group fitness instructor. When she is not studying or working, Catriona enjoys practicing yoga, online shopping, and binge watching The Office.

Jeffery Paul (J.P.) Corser, II Summer Conference AssistantA rising sophomore, J.P., is majoring in business administration, minoring in French, and is a member of the Roanoke College basketball team. He grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and attended Fork Union Military Academy, a boarding school, for his senior year of high school. For fun he likes to golf, spend time in the mountains, be

on the lake; as well as reading or writing as a way to relax. He also enjoys spending time with friends and family, trying new foods, and watching Netflix. J.P. is an avid dog lover, and one day hopes to open a dog shelter of his own.

Rachael Palmer Summer Conference AssistantRachael is a rising senior at Roanoke College, majoring in the field of communications with a minor in psychology. During the academic year, she keeps herself busy outside of class, managing the Information Desk in the Colket Center, and serves as the editor and historian for her sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha. Looking towards the future,

Rachael plans to use her experience from Roanoke to help her achieve her dream job of working in higher education administration. In her free time, you can find Rachael exploring nature, going to the gym, trying out new restaurants, or finding new music to listen to.

Tiffany-Reece Pires Summer Conference AssistantA rising junior from New Jersey, Tiffany-Reece is a criminal justice major with hopes to become a juvenile probation officer. During the academic year she works for the campus store and as a Peer Educator for Health Services, putting together programs and events with her fellow educators such as Take Back the Night and Stress Relief

Days. She loves to read and draw when she has free time from studying and work. She is also a shameless cat mom and coffee addict. She can most likely be found watching scary movies on Netflix with Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food.

Joshua ReuterSummer Conference AssistantJoshua is a rising junior studying music at Roanoke College. As a teenager, Joshua spent his time working and studying music at a non-profit performing arts studio in Jamestown, New York. He has performed solo and in groups in the Jamestown area; playing guitar, percussion, keyboard, trombone, and singing. He is currently

a percussionist in the Roanoke College Wind and Jazz Ensembles, and has accompanied public performances for different groups throughout Roanoke. Joshua grew up in Western New York and has lived across New York State and New Mexico. During the academic year, he stays busy with studies, rehearsals, practice time, and working as both a Student Assistant for Resource Development and as Crew Chief for Stage Tech. This summer, Joshua is excited to be working for Summer Conferences and to continue studying and writing music in his free time.

Annie Patterson Summer Conference InternA rising senior, Annie is majoring in sociology with minors in Spanish and psychology; in addition to a concentration in crime, deviance, & social control. Annie spent the fall of her junior year in Melbourne, Australia, and most recently, she spent a May term walking a portion of a historic pilgrimage route in Spain. During the academic year, she is actively involved in the national service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, and is part of the research fellows program with the Sociology Department. Annie has been involved in research since the beginning of her freshman year, and has presented at sociological conferences in addition to conducting her own research. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering at the SPCA, hiking, and relaxing on the back quad in hopes that she will come across a dog taking a walk. Annie is incredibly excited to spend a summer at Roanoke, and will be completing a campus-wide event planning resource guide for her internship.
