Attached you will find the Grade One Summer Learning Packet. Please return the completed packet to your Grade 1 teacher in August. You will receive a special incentive upon completion. We would also like the children to keep a summer writing journal. You can use the notebook for daily writing.
Studies show that many school-aged children experience learning losses during the recess between June and August. The same studies show that children who read over the summer gain skills, rather than lose them.
Summer is a time to relax, spend time with your friends, enjoy the outdoors, go places and nurture special interests. The challenge is helping children discover that reading and writing is a fun part of it all.
