3D Monster Math Grade 7-9
Create your own 3-D Monster out of various 3-D shapes and learn how to fully master the mathematical skill sets of calculating surface area and volume. Each camper will also create a portfolio of charts and written descriptors on their 3-D Monster in order to defend and perfect it through a battery of class reviews.. 3D Monster Math camp is designed around WICOR strategies and purposely offered to further develop skills necessary to master key areas within STAAR Math Assessments.
Algebra I Credit Recovery
Grade 9-12
Required for any student who has completed Algebra I and not earned a full credit. This credit recovery offerings will be taught by a certified math teacher and is scheduled to where students can choose to take the only the semester needed or repeated the entire course as a whole. Credit Recovery Program
Grade 9-12
East Central High School has a vast menu of credit recovery courses created within its Edgenuity on line program. Students who are failing or have failed a course need to make an appointment with their East Central counselor to review their graduation plan and obtain an official registration form for ECHS?s Summer Credit Recovery program. A $50 access fee is required for each registered ½ day session and there is tuition/fee assistance for qualifying students. All exams must be taken on campus under the supervision of the Credit Recovery staff.
Starting May 22nd and during school office hours- Credit Recovery Registration Forms can be submitted to the ECHS?s Bookkeeper or MSC office to secure position in the program; Credit Recovery Program?s fees will not be collected until re-verification of course(s) are made and fee amounts verified. Registration period for credit recovery June 15th. All Edgenuity courses will be required to be completed by 3:15 pm on June 29, 2017; Extensions can be granted for extenuating circumstance, but must be arranged prior to the program?s end date with the Credit Recovery Program Leader, Mr. Joe Gutierrez, as well as are subject to additional access fees.

Grade K-1
Sixteen day adventure designed for currently enrolled ECISD Dual Language students to have multiple engaging and enriching learning experiences around the theme of Oh! The Places We Will Go! and will focus on building literacy, math, science, social and emotional skills of students through academic exploration and hands-on activities. Participants will personally visit the San Antonio Zoo and other area landmarks, receive a free t-shirt and given a copy of Dr. Seuss' book, Oh! The Places We Will Go! by Dr. Seuss.
Dual Language SUPERSTAR
Grade 2-3

East Central Community Coed Soccer Camp
Grade 2-9
The East Central Community Soccer Camp will provide solid instruction on the fundamental skills of soccer. Specific instruction will focus on individual technique as well as small group tactics. The ECCSC enhances creativity and confidence, while encouraging communication and teamwork. The camp is designed for girls and boys of all ages and levels, from beginner to experienced players.
EC Theater Camp Grade K-8
Full day program where participants rotate through theater work stations to include games, song, dance, and prop making as well as spend quality time rehearsing for an evening performance to showcase their learned talents to family and friends.. T-shirt for each participant will be provided.
Economics Grade 9-12
Economics emphasizes the free enterprise system of the United States. Topics include the theory of supply and demand, price factors of production, income distribution, the organization and function of the Federal Reserve System, and government regulation of the market system. Comparative economic systems are studied.
End of Course Academy
Grade 9-12
Academies are designed to support and build academic skills sets in students who need extra support to successfully demonstrate knowledge in a particular state assessed content area. East Central High School provides multiple End of Course Academy sessions for Algebra I, Biology , ELA I, ELA II and US History. Academies are not required, however HIGHLY ENCOURAGE for any student who academically struggles in these content areas and on state assessments. Various test taking strategies and specifics on each test are provided.
Film Camp Grade 9-12
Ready, Set, and Action! Campers will create story prompts, scripts, and storyboards that they themselves will use to cast, film, edit, and polish into a final product to be showcased at their scheduled premiere screening and party. All campers will leave with a copy of the final products.
Fraction Monster Grade 5-6
Create your own Fraction Monster out of various pieces of fraction circles and learn how to calculate the size of the monster. All created Fraction Monsters will go through peer reviews that require each participant to further develop their math skill sets. Creators will practice measurements and learn to solve a multitude of fractions problems; Methods to include but not limited to are: how to add and subtract fractions with unequal denominators, multiply whole numbers and a fraction, and both add and subtract positive rational numbers fluently.

Calling all Strong, Smart and Bold girls to come have fun with food and fashion! Do you want to help create yummy recipes with friends by your side? Future Stars Boys Basketball Camp
Grade 1-6
Future Stars camp will be 3 hours of basketball skill work. Emphasis will be placed on improving campers offensive skills and over all court presence. Shooting and dribbling will dominate most of the activities. Each day the kids will have a chance to scrimmage against other campers. The campers and coaches will have fun learning and teaching the game they love.
Government Grade 9-12
This course is designed to provide an understanding of the functions of federal, state, and local governments. Major focus is placed on the Constitution and its influence on all governmental levels, and the rights and responsibilities of American citizenship.
Hornet Coed Baseball Camp
Grade 2-9
This camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of baseball. Students attending the camp will have the opportunity to learn the basics of baseball. They will be coached by the baseball staff and learn the proper techniques and fundamentals of baseball.
Hornet Coed Softball Camp
Grade 2-9
Campers will be working on Defensive & Offensive Skills. Defensive skills: Fielders will be divided by age and/or skill level. The defensive session will include: (1) drills to develop proper throwing mechanics, improve arm strength, accuracy and quick transfers, (2) drills to develop proper fielding mechanics, softer hands, footwork, and the ability to throw from all angles, and (3) drills to develop proper footwork around the bag for force plays, tag plays, and double plays. Offensive skills: Hitters will be divided by age and/or skill level. The hitting session will include: (1) an overview of hitting mechanics, (2) drills to develop bat speed and strength, and (3) base running and sliding mechanics.
Hornet Coed Tennis Academy
Grade 2-9
The East Central Junior Tennis Camp is a day program specifically designed to cover the entire spectrum of tennis development, from detailed instruction to supervised play. Sound strokes, proper movement, good sportsmanship and competitive play strategies are taught in a logical progression of instruction and drill. Our Tennis Camp focuses on the athletic, emotional, psychological, technical, tactical and the social behavioral development of the athlete.
Hornet Freshmen Football Camp
Grade 9
The East Central Hornets football staff will conduct the annual Freshman Camp. Campers will have fun learning the fundamentals of football. They will learn the same techniques and skills that the East Central Hornets football players learn. We will promote competition, character development, nutrition, family and fun. Camp will also feature skills competitions. This camp will give the freshman players an introduction into Hornet Football.
Into the Wild! Girls, Inc.
Grade 1-7
So, you like animals. Actually, you LOVE animals! There are multitudes of amazing and interesting creatures to discover, you just need to know where to look! From the depths of the ocean to remote jungles, come explore the fascinating fauna of our planet. Explore the different ecosystems and what creatures can be found there. Learn about Veterinarians and Zoologists, what they do, and what it takes to become one. Join us this week and take a walk on the wild side. Majors: Zoology, Veterinary Medicine, Field Biology
Jr. Honeybee Camp 3yr-9g
An opportunity for young dancers to dance with the Honeybees. Campers are split into 3 groups, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Each group will learn 5 dances, they also play games and there will be arts and crafts for the beginner group. The last day of camp is a showcase for parents and where special awards will be given. Also, each dancer receives a Jr. Honeybee t-shirt and camp CD with all of the music from camp.
Jr. Hornet Scientist Grade 3-6
Does your junior scientist ask you "WHY" multiple times a day? We have the answer! The Summertime Camp will help she or he expand their abilities to explore and make scientific observations of the natural world around them. They will create field journals and portable plant presses to record these observations while they learn to identify common local plants and aquatic microorganisms. We will collect specimens and samples from the field using techniques of true

Focus will be on individual offensive and defensive skills including: shooting, dribbling, passing and footwork for players of all positions. Also included will be defensive instruction ranging from rebounding, boxing out, defensive stance and proper footwork.

The East Central Volleyball Camp is designed to provide an opportunity for individuals to develop their knowledge of volleyball. This camp will introduce the fundamentals of passing, serving, setting and hitting. Each day will provide an opportunity to compete and demonstrate all skills learned through drills and games. The Mighty Hornets Football Camp will be conducted by the East Central Hornets football staff. Campers will have fun learning the fundamentals of football. They will learn the same techniques and skills that the East Central Hornets football players learn. We will promote competition, character development, nutrition, family and fun. Camp will also feature skills competitions as well as two hand touch football games that will result in state championship games on the last day of camp.
Minecraft Grade 3-5
Come explore and learn through the virtual world of Minecraft! Gamers will develop basic crafting and knowledge skill sets on the game and various tools, structures and survival gear. Player will also be mentally stretched to draw the real world connections to the importance of transportation, animal care, independence, community building, and quality of life.

What would you buy if money was no object? Would you buy a new car or a used one? Should you lease or buy a car? What is a credit score and why should a care? What is your mindset about money? Musical Recorders Grade 4-6
Have you ever played a MUSICAL RECORDER or would just love to learn how to play one of the most basic of musical instruments? If so, register for the Musical Recorder camp! Each camper will not only receive their own recorder, but also learn about its history, develop a basic understanding on how to play the device, learn to read music, and memorize couple of songs that one can easily play for friends and family.
My Fun House Project
Grade 5-6,7-9
Come design a house using given dimensions and have a real world experiences that revolves around learning how to calculate perimeter and area of rectangles as well as perfect ones skills related in adding and multiplying decimals. House designers will draw house blueprints, decide on decorations, research out how much everything will cost, and create an itemized cost proposal to be presented to a panel of peers.

Nature Explorer Grade 1-4
Calling all Junior Nature Lovers! Come explore our amazing earth and learn about plants and animals that call it home. Participate in many fun-filled activities including hands-on field science, storytelling, journaling observations, games, lab experiments, nature inspired art, and a trip to the San Antonio Botanical Gardens.
Party Planner Grade 5-6, 7-9
Participants become a party planner who has been be given the task to plan a specific party for a new client. Party planners will create an invitation, pick a theme, and choose decorations that will also lead them to making a shopping list, pick the items needed for the party from a store circular and determine the cost per person at the party. The challenge is that there is a $200 budget! Party Planner designed to have the individual solve multi-step problems, balance a simple budget, divide whole numbers and decimals; All skills necessary to master key areas within STAAR Math Assessments.

We only have one Earth and it is a pretty amazing planet! Come explore our awesome world and all it has to offer! Take a look inside our planet and learn about our precious natural resources. Discover the impact that people have on our planet and how YOU can be a planet protector! This week will be jam-packed with fun and practical ways to protect our planet, recycling to up-cycling, the role of plants and how grow plants yourself! Psyched To Meet You! ? Girls, Inc.

Let's start our summer by helping YOU learn about yourself from the inside, out! This week will focus on introducing activities to help girls work on self-esteem, body image, stress management, emotional regulation and positive thinking skills. These skills will tie into the physiological aspect of the week as we introduce the human body and learn how we can maintain healthy lives both physically and emotionally. SHARK TANK Grade 7-9
Project based learning at its finest! Each camper will have the opportunity to research a problem and create a portfolio of graphs, charts, and descriptors around of a self-created product or action plan to address the problem. Campers will also be expected to present and defend in their ideals at various point during the week to their peers and a panel of expert designers.

Space Adventures Grade 1-4
3..2.1.. BLAST OFF! Get ready to embark on an amazing journey through space. Stops include the sun, the moon, and our eight unique plantes. All will learn to construct solar cookers, build and launch rockets, create moon rocks, paint their own planet and discover how astronauts live and work in space through a variety of hands-on experiments and activities. Get ready for an exciting ride and the opportunity to go boldly where no one has gone before. Camp may include a trip to the SAC Planetarium.
Starting Five Boys Basketball Camp
Grade 7-9
Starting Five camp will be 3 hours of basketball skill work. Emphasis will be placed on improving campers offensive skills and over all court presence. Shooting and dribbling will dominate most of the activities. Each day the kids will have a chance to scrimmage against other campers. The campers and coaches will have fun learning and teaching the game they love.
Strategies for Academic Success
Grade 6-8,9-12
Participants will learn proven and high quality strategies to enhance and strengthen how to successfully study, learn, retain information, and build their academic vocabulary. Methods can be used in all content areas and at all grade levels.

Strength & Conditioning
Grade 7-12
The East Central Hornets Strength and Conditioning Camp will be Conducted by the East Central Hornets strength and coaching staff. The camp will be open to students in grades 7th ? 12th and will be held at Hornet Stadium. Campers will lift weights, run, and do agility drills in preparation for their upcoming fall seasons. Campers will also learn the importance of competition, teamwork, character development, nutrition, and family. The expectation will be that all campers be at workout Mon ? Thurs and on time.
Summer Math Bridge
Grade 6-8
Designed to strengthen a student's math skills in the area of measurement(2-D figures), fractions, decimals, percent, algebraic concepts (multiple representations), coordinate graphing, and probability through the use WICOR strategies such as Cornell note-taking, interactive notebooks, writing and vocabulary activities, and team building projects.
Summer READING Academy
Grade 5-6,7-9
Students will learn and become aware of their own reading strategies that lead to deeper comprehension of texts. A reading project where students will select a theme from a list of options will also be completed by the end of the academy. Thematic options will include, but are not limited to: Heroes of Tomorrow, Who Are Our Heroes Today?, or Heroes of Yesterday.
SUPERSTAR Camp Grade K-1
Sixteen day adventure designed for currently enrolled ECISD students to have multiple engaging and enriching learning experiences around the theme of the book; Oh! The Places We Will Go! and will focus on building literacy, math, science, social and emotional skills of students through academic exploration and hands-on activities. Participants will personally visit the San Antonio Mission Public Library and other area landmarks, receive a free t-shirt and given a copy of Dr. Seuss's book, Oh! The Places You Will Go!
SUPERSTAR Camp Grade 2-3
Twelve day adventure designed for currently enrolled ECISD students. students to have multiple engaging and enriching learning experiences about and around San Antonio and will focus on building literacy, math, science, social and emotional skills of students through academic exploration and hands-on activities. Participants will personally visit the San Antonio Mission Public Library and other area landmarks, receive a free t-shirt and given a copy of ;Goodnight San Antonio by Jennifer Gaines Drez.
SUPERSTAR Camp Grade 4-5
Eight day science and math adventure for ECISD currently enrolled ECISD students. Camp is designed to engage and enrich the learning experience of the students through various explorations, investigations, and hand-on activities. Participants will personally visit various San Antonio landmarks, have daily hands on experiences, receive a free t-shirt and be provided a book from the ECISD Summer Family Literacy Program.
Swim Camp (Coed - Novice/Beginning Level)

From novice to elite, this year's camp will have something for everyone. This camp is designed for swimmers to learn, develop and gain confidence in swimming. For the elite (advanced) swimmer, camp offers the opportunity to work on honing your technique.

Tastes Around the World Camp
Grade 9-12
If you love to get creative in the kitchen and eat, register for Tastes Around the World Camp. Campers will be taught how to make Fan Favorites, Oriental Cuisines, sweets, and explore the magic of science. (Caution: Peanut Butter used in learning environment.)
The Kids Table Cooking Camp
Grade 3-5
Hands-on cooking with lots of eating and team building going on! Campers will be taught how to make donuts with yummy toppings,explore the arts of sushi making, make homemade Mac and Cheese, and decorate cupcakes worthy for a kitchen showdown and have an exceptional summer experience.
Theater Art I Grade 9-12
Theater Arts I is an Introduction to the dramatic arts. Topics include basic warm ups and acting techniques; a brief overview of the theater arts; interpreting dramatic literature; careers in Theater; and an introduction to the technical elements of theatrical production.
