Want some styling nails but don't wanna have to go to
the spa? Well, save your money for the mall, because
here are some fabulous nail ideas for a fabulous price.
Page 7
1. Unscrew the lids of your 3 or 4 gradient
colors so they’re ready to go. Be careful not
to knock them over! Here I used because I
was feeling very mermaid inspired.
Get a little cup of water and soak your trian-
gle makeup sponge. Squeeze the sponge
out about 80% leaving it damp but not wet.
This will keep the polish from soaking up
too quickly.
2. Apply a single line of the darkest color to-
ward the edge of your sponge. The first
time, I went over the line twice so that
there was enough polish to transfer to the
nail.
3. Next, use the second darkest color and
make another line above that one. Coat it
twice also. Keep going until you build up
your 3-4 colors. NOTE: you want to work
somewhat quickly so the polish doesn’t dry
out.
4. Dab your sponge on a piece of paper and
you’ll see the colors together but not quite
blended.
Bounce it up and down in the same spot a
few times and you’ll see how the separation
of colors disappears and they become
blended!
5. Line the tip of the sponge up with the
tip of your nail and when you’re ready,
give it a med-firm press. Bounce it up and
down a couple times in that spot. DON’T
BE SCARED that you’re going to mess it up
because you’re not. If you keep it in the
same general spot it will be just fine. It
doesn’t have to be exact. If it’s a little off
each time you bounce it up and down
that’s actually good because it blends the
colors even more.
6. Re-apply a line of each polish color to
the sponge for every nail. If you work
quickly, you can probably re-apply polish
to the sponge for every other nail.
Now you have pretty polish but a mess
around your nails.
7. Take a little polish remover + a paint
brush and clean up the sides and aroud
the cuticles.
8. Apply a top coat once the ombre has
dried completely. The top coat will also
make it appear more blended.

My favorite trends for nail polish this year are ombre, polka
dot, French, sequin, and glitter. I love the way you can mix
and match different styles together to make one gorgeous
manicure!
Try painting one nail with glitter while the others are all
solid.
Or attach sequins or studs to your thumb for a fierce and
chic look.
Metallic is another fabulous way to show off your style! It
is shiny and ultra trendy.

Fashion is a wonderful way to be creative and to express
your style.
Scarves, heels, dresses, skirts, frilly tops, skinny jeans, studs,
blazers, and jewelry are all part of the fabulous thing we call
fashion.
I have taken the quote:
“Everyday is a fashion show, and the world is your runway.”
-Coco Chanel
to heart, meaning everyday should be a reason to dress up and
be fashionable. Everyday is an excuse to show off your style to
the world.
You don't need to be going somewhere super fancy to throw
on a blazer and matching heels! You may feel like you will look
weird wearing heels to school, but come on! Show your school
that you know how to dress well! Show them that you know
fashion and you have a passion for it.
Be confident and rock that runway!
with your amazing fashion sense!
dresses are a huge hit right now.
They keep you fashionable and chic while staying cool.
is the epitome of girly. Throw it in with a casual outfit to add a little spice.
A stud here, a stud there; studs are the perfect way to embellish any everyday outfit.
If you have heard that they make you look tanner, it’s
true!
is the key to pulling any outfit together. Try floral!

My fashion board experience started
in the month of March last year. My friend
told me about it and said it was perfect for
me and what I felt called to do at that
time.
I was so excited! I applied as quickly
as I could and made my fashion project
and happily turned it in. Then a month lat-
er in April, I received an email saying I was
one of the lucky girls who got an inter-
view!
We went shopping for clothes for
the interview as well as getting a manicure
for the big day. The interview process was
easy and nothing to worry about. I was
extremely nervous at the time, but after it
was finished, it was honestly low-key and a
wonderful experience.
After about two weeks, I got a letter!
Oh my! I was ecstatic, but my heart was
beating out of my chest. But, the verdict
was good! I had been accepted!
My first meeting was in September,
but I was not able to go because I was in
LA. So my first meeting that I could attend
was in October.
It is nice to be able to meet girls
with the same interests as I do and to get
to know more people.
Every month at our meeting, we talk
about the current and upcoming trends of
the year. Sometimes we have a group
challenge that we have to “compete” in.
One time we had to dress a mannequin in
a certain trend and the winning team got
theirs put up in the store!
When we are in the downtown
store, when all of the local stores meet
every once in a while, we have speakers.
Last time, we got to find out about the
new line of clothing that was coming out.
And I am telling you, it’s an adorable line!
Keep your eyes out for the BP. Undercover
line which just launched on Thursday.
Being on Fashion Board also gives us
amazing opportunities. For instance, I am
modeling in our huge prom fashion show
on Saturday! I’m really excited (and nerv-
ous)!
If you love fashion and are interested
in a career in it, I highly recommend apply-
ing for the Nordstrom BP. Fashion Board.
Stay fashionable!

Plastic barrette with flat top Starfish (real or fake) Small rhinestones Craft glue Tweezers Wax paper
1. Lay out your starfish hair clip idea. Place the clip in front of you and line up the starfish (one or more)
underneath the clip in a pattern that will be attractive and fit on the clip.
2. Glue your starfish to the clip. Use the craft glue. Be liberal with the glue wherever the starfish will be in
contact with the clip. Hold the starfish gently in place on the clip for about three minutes to let the glue
set.
3. Allow an hour for the glue to dry. During this time, do not touch or move the clip.
4. Pour a small amount of craft glue onto a piece of wax paper. Your glue puddle should not be more
than about 2 inches in diameter.
5. Accent your starfish hair clip with the rhinestones. Use the tweezers to pick up a rhinestone and touch
the back of the gem to the glue on the wax paper. Then press the gem gently onto the starfish.
6. Dry the clip for 24 hours before you wear it. Keep it in a warm, dry place.
