Press Release — From September to December the Franciscan Province of Ireland will run a series of free concerts at our Friaries around the country as a thank you to all the people who have supported the work and ministry of the Franciscans both locally and at national level. We are inviting Franciscan hearted people to join us in creating a hope filled world where “we bring joy where there is sadness, hope where there is despair, faith where there is doubt”. The concerts will highlight the need to care and nurture all of creation. We have commissioned a new composition of the Canticle of Creation written by St. Francis of Assisi. The Canticle is a hymn of praise that inspired Pope Francis in his second encyclical ‘Laudato si’ which he wrote on June 18, 2015. The composer is Vincent Kenne-dy and the concert will be performed by Vincent and Marina Cassidy (harp and vocals). The concert in Dublin will be held on Thursday 28th September in Adam & Eve’s, Merchants’ Quay, Dublin at 6.30pm. Anam Cara, the organisation that supports bereaved parents, is holding its next monthly Parent Evening on Monday 11th of September from 19:30 to 21:00 in the Maldron Hotel, Whitestown Way, Tallaght, Dublin 24. This event is open to all bereaved parents.

In preparing children for the Sacraments this year one of our main focuses will be on teaching them reverence while in the church. Children learn primarily by example. Please help us by modelling good and reverent behaviour in the church. Talking loudly

shouldn’t happen so that people have a reverent atmosphere for prayer before and after Mass. Please use the Pastoral Space or Tearoom for chatting. We’ve had many instances of adults chewing gum in church even on approaching for Holy Communion. They don’t appear to know that this is wrong. They’ve even left behind some of their gum on church furnish-ings and our red carpet! So please no chewing gum in or around our church.

We especially welcome children to our Masses in Jesus’s name. Many parents say that Mass is very long for younger children. So just to let you know that the Pastoral Space is designed so that

children can run around safely during Mass and other Services supervised by their Parents who can see and hear everything that’s going on in the church. It’s also sound proofed so that children can cry away to their hearts content! We hope it will also be a meeting space where families who are here regularly with young children can get to know one another

You may have noticed some new furnishings in our church in the Baptistry area and in the Sanctuary. Sincere thanks to the Sisters of the Holy Faith in Killester who are closing their convent and have donated these beautiful church

furnishings to us. I hope you agree that they enhance our church as we continue the refurbishment just ahead of our 75th anniversary celebrations. The parish will make a donation to the Holy Faith Sisters Missions.

Opening Hymn Come O Creator Spirit blest, And in our hearts take up thy rest, Come with thy grace and heavenly aid, To fill the hearts which thou hast made. Great Paraclete to thee we cry, O highest gift of God most high, O fount of life, O fire of love, And sweet anointing from above. Drive far from us the foe we dread, And grant us thy true peace instead, So shall we not, with thee for guide, Turn from the path of life aside. All glory while the ages run Be to the Father and the Son Who rose from death, the same to Thee O Holy Ghost eternally Recessional

As I kneel before you, As I bow my head in prayer, Take this day, make it yours And fill me with your love. Ave Maria, Gratia plena, Dominus tecum, Benedicta tu. All I have I give you, Every dream and wish are yours, Mother of Christ, Mother of mine Present them to my Lord. As I kneel before you, And I see your smiling face, Every thought, every word Is lost in your embrace.
