“God created us for communion, for fraternity. Now more than ever the pretense of focusing everything on ourselves, making individualism society’s guiding principle, has proven illusory. We have to be careful! When the emergency is over we can easily fall back into this illusion..”

ANOINTING OF THE SICK Due to the continuing pandemic we cannot offer Anointing of the Sick during Mass at this time. However, should you wish to receive this Sacrament, please contact the parish office and we should be able to book an appointment for you to receive it.

FIRST FRIDAY ADORATION Beginning on Friday July 3rd following the 9am Mass you are welcome to remain in the church for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament followed by Benediction. Adoration will take place the First Friday of every month as in the past.

CHURCH CLEANING MINISTRY We still need a few more people to help clean disinfect the church, particularly after the Saturday 5:00pm Mass. With four people working together it takes less than half an hour to disinfect all the touch points, and with a few more volunteers you would only be asked to help once or twice a month. Instructions will be provided, as well and cleaning supplies, gloves, and masks if you do not have your own. Please contact Ruthann at 519-745-7301 or email her at [email protected] to indicate you would be interested in helping. It is important we have more people involved in this ministry so that our masses can continue uninterrupted and safely. Thank you for considering this new and important ministry.

PARISH OFFICE REOPENING - July 2

We are happy to announce that the Parish Office will Re-Open on July 2, BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

This means that if you want to have a meeting with Fr. Raphael or Ruthann, or if you want to pick up or drop off something to Alice in the office, we will be able to do this, but you must call ahead so we know you are coming.

We need to make sure visits to the office are staggered so that we can maintain social distancing and disinfect the area between visitors. We are excited to be able to serve you again in the office, but we have to keep everyone’s safety a top priority.

The Office will be open Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – noon and 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm

starting on July 2.

MASS DURING COVID-19

Over the past two weeks St. Francis of Assisi reopened for public Mass. Thanks to all who attended Mass, followed the new instructions and made our first few days back blessed ones. Thank you also for your patience as we learn what works well and what we can improve on. If you have not joined us for Mass yet and are considering attending, please see the COVID-19 page on our website for information you need before you attend. You can access that page here.

Weekday Masses are Tuesday – Friday at 9:00 am Weekend Masses are Saturday at 5:00 pm and Sunday at 9:00 am & 11:00 am

We are very excited to be worshiping together again, but we have to do this carefully so that we keep everyone safe and healthy, so thank you for your cooperation. We look forward to seeing you soon!

FOLLOWING OUR FIRST

WEEKEND BACK After our first weekend back to having public Masses we want to thank everyone who attended Mass for following instructions so well. Everyone was respectful of other’s space and safety, and, because of your willingness to work with us, it was a very blessed first weekend back. If you are coming to Mass please continue to practice social distancing, particularly while waiting outside to enter the church. Thank you for your patience as well all learn how to do this together.

PRAYER NETWORK

During this pandemic many of us have found or re-developed a deep appreciation for the power of prayer. At St. Francis Parish we have a dedicated team of parishioners who will pray for your intentions. If you or a loved one needs prayer please call email the parish office and we will pray for you!

CONGRATULATIONS ST. PAUL GRADUATES!

The end of the school year looked very different this year, and our students, teachers and parents all had to find new ways to work and learn together. We are so proud of all the students and staff at St. Paul’s, and particularly the graduates. May God bless you and keep you safe as you move on to highschool.

SECONDARY SCHOOL GRADUATE BURSARY

Although school has looked very different this year, we still have many young people in our parish who are graduating from secondary school and we would like to congratulate all of them! It has not been easy finishing your studies online, and we are so grateful to all the teachers, parents and students who have made the best of a difficult situation. Every year St. Francis of Assisi Parish offers a bursary to honour one of our graduates who has been active in the life of the parish, and to contribute to their continued education. This year is no different! To qualify for this award you must be graduating from Secondary School this year, you must be a registered member of the parish and be an active volunteer here, and you must be planning to enter a college, university or an apprenticeship program.

Application forms can be found on our parish website by clicking here.

Please return the form either via email to Ruthann Fisher ([email protected]), or through the mail slot in the parish office door no later than July 15, 2020.

FAREWELL TO FR. TIM It is so hard to believe that this is Fr. Tim’s last weekend at St. Francis of Assisi Parish! The pandemic has changed so much over the past few months that Fr. Tim’s final days as our pastor have snuck up on us. We have missed his informative and grace-filled homilies at Mass, but we have benefitted from his online newsletters. We have missed his dry sense of humor, but have shared his joy with our statue of St. Francis wearing a Leafs cap and the many jokes shared online.

Over the past three years we have shared many moments, like baptisms, first communions, confirmations, weddings, funerals, and even an ordination, where Fr. Tim has helped us to encounter the grace and incredible love that God has for us in our journey of faith. He has helped to establish new initiatives, like our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program, our Parish Picnic and our 60th Anniversary events and outreach, especially the new statue of St. Francis. From all of us at St. Francis of Assisi Paris, thank you Fr. Tim for being our shepherd. On July 1st Fr. Tim officially takes on the role of Provincial Superior of the Congregation of the Resurrection, Ontario-Kentucky Province. We are certain that his care for others, his organizational skills and most importantly his faith will serve him well in this new role. Thankfully Fr. Tim will be working not far away, so once we can gather together again we will invite him back for a proper farewell party! Fr. Tim, may your time as Provincial Superior be blessed and fruitful.

Thank you Fr. Tim Uniac, CR and may God bless you on your journey!
