Holy Hour for Life Our collaborative’s annual Holy Hour for Life will be held on Tuesday, January 28 at 7:00 PM in the Chapel in Holy Ghost Church. There will be many Holy Hours such as this one throughout the United States this month marking the forty-seventh anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. That decision legalized abortion in America. We will be praying for an end to abortion in our country, forgiveness for the millions of children who have been aborted and repentance and healing for those who have taken part in abortions. Please come to the Holy Hour. Your prayers are powerful. This Holy Hour will be held in conjunction with the Divine Mercy Hour. Please call Deacon Jim McLaughlin or Deacon Joe Nickley at either rectory if you have questions.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

We heard the words in our first Reading; “I will make you a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.” Isiah is talking about the Servant of the Lord a theme throughout his writings. At his last supper Jesus said after washing the feet of his Apostles “For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.” As servants we become a light to those around us. The Psalmist wrote: “Here am I, Lord; I come to do your will.” When we pray, God shows us his will. Jesus came to do the will of his Father, and we the will of Jesus when we are servants of the Gospel, and so we are doing the will of God. Saint Paul writes to the Church in Corinth: “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” May we pray to continue to receive that grace and peace, the Church in Corinth certainly needed it. The Church in Boston and our Collaborative certainly needs grace and peace. John testified in the Gospel: ‘On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ In our Parish, through all Sacraments, most especially Baptism and Confirmation, God gives us through Christ the Holy Spirit of God. When we come into Church, while at Church, when we leave, and throughout our week may God Bless us Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As we awaken, have meals, travel, hear news of people who need to be prayed for, make decisions, let us remember our lives and the lives of those we love are to be Blessed The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Recently some parishioners of the Collaborative have asked the Clergy about having a Latin Mass within the collaborative. In 1984 Pope John Paul the II issued an indult and Pope Benedict XVI in 2007 issued a moto proprio both around the issue of the Latin Mass in response to concerns left over from Vatican II which ended in 1965, and a schism in the Church caused by Marcel-François Lefebvre, a Bishop excommunicated in 1988. Knowing a bit of the history of the Latin Mass, and the Society of Saint Pius X helps in understanding why the two Popes issued their statement. People I have spoken with think you can

Archdiocesan Parish Family Baby Shower at Holy Ghost Church January 18th & 19th, 2020 This is our 35th Annual Baby Shower that provides materials for mothers to avoid abortion. Last October, Cardinal Sean spoke about you, ..." Donations provide much needed material support for mothers and babies served by Pregnancy Help ministry of our Pro-Life Office..." So if you are able, please bring an unwrapped baby gift to Mass. A Pack & Play will be set up downstairs and upstairs at Holy Ghost to receive your gifts. As always, a monetary donation is also appreciated to purchase supplies when different items have already been distributed. I am very grateful for your dedication to God's babies each year. We are still here for these babies and always will be. More info Call Lynn Kenn (508) 378-7431 or [email protected]

just “start” a Latin Mass. As Pastor I can tell you that is not the case and while I am here, we will not be having a Latin Mass in the Light of Christ Catholic Collaborative. We do not meet the set criteria for pastoral need, for ritual, or for Celebrants under which it can be offered which affects the efficaciousness of the Mass. The concept of a Mass with almost zero understanding or response, does not make much sense in a time that the Church is supposed to be evangelizing and getting people to respond to God’s Call to holiness in their life. We are helped to realize we are the Body of Christ through active participation in the Mass, especially praying, and I hope that endures. God Bless, Fr. Tom Stanton
