Neptronic introduces the SKH High Pres-
sure Atomizing Humidifier, designed
specifically for today’s expectations for
energy efficiency and hygienic operation.
The SKH adapts to seasonal changes to
provide direct evaporative cooling in the
summer and humidification in the winter.
Water Treatment
The SKH supports any water type (tap,
RO or Di), which is pretreated through a
5µM pre-filter and anti-bacterial silver
ion cartridge to ensure maximum hy-
giene. The water is then pressurized using
a maintenance-free, stainless steel, water-
cooled and water-lubricated axial piston
pump. The system uses a built-in hygiene
program and automatic flushing of the
pipes and the pump to ensure continued
hygienic operation. The safety of the
water pressurization step is assured using
electronic high-pressure protection and a
pressure relief valve.
Distribution
Once the water is pressurized, it is dis-
tributed into a zone through multiple anti-
drip nozzles, which produce a fine mist
with a droplet size of less than 20µM
(D90 value). The fine mist is converted
from water to water vapor by absorbing
the energy from the ambient air thereby
raising the relative humidity while pro-
viding free cooling. For in-duct distribu-
tion, the nozzle rack is custom designed
and features quick connects for fast and
simple installation. Additional safety is
provided by an automatic reduction of the
output if air absorption capacity is insuf-
ficient, which avoids water accumulation
in the duct and to drain. For in-space dis-
tribution, select from standard nozzles or
an MDU (mist distribution unit), which
is ideal for shorter absorption distances
(e.g. low ceilings).

On Jan. 4, 2014, the Federal Reduction
of Lead in Drinking Water Act came into
effect. This Federal Law mandates the
maximum allowable level of lead be less
than .025 percent (lead by weight) within
the wetted surface of any plumbing pipe,
valves, hose, fittings and fixtures that will
come into contact with potable water;
specifically potable water that provides
water for drinking or water utilized in
generating beverage or food products.
Twin City Hose, Inc. domestically
manufactures UL Classified for water
quality, lead-free V and U shaped ther-
mal/seismic metal expansion joints and
lead-free straight flexible metal connec-
tors. These assemblies are in accordance
with the Federal Reduction of Lead in
Drinking Water Act and NSF/ANSI 61
and NSF/ANSI 372. Twin City Hose’s
UL Classified metal hose assemblies are
fabricated using lead-free bronze, copper,
carbon steel and stainless steel materials.
In 2015, industries affected by the
Reduction in Lead Drinking Act can ex-
pect to see changes made to the valida-
tion of lead-free products and how these
regulations will be enforced. “Because
the recent Reduction of Lead Act is fairly
new, there will likely be plenty of
changes and improvements along the
way,” Twin City Hose’s Sales Manager,
Marcus Kenna, tells us.
He explains, “Our UL Certificate of
Compliance is made available at
www.twincityhose.com for download or
print to ensure our customers know our
lead-free assemblies are verified by a rep-
utable third party. We use specific serial
numbers on our UL assemblies to iden-
tify our products as lead-free, which pro-
vides both 100 percent traceability to our
customers and also quick identification.”

nication protocols are standard.
Thermal management features in-
clude the ability to monitor heat sink and
inside air temperature ensuring protection
of the IGBT’s and control boards. All
fans are controlled based on the temper-
ature of the power module to save energy.
The CFW701 cooling fan operation
hours can be read and analyzed through
selected parameters for predictive main-
tenance. The fans are also removable for
easy maintenance.
In addition, unique special functions
are included. Broken belt and dry pump
monitoring senses when the application
is not requiring torque and helps prevent
running the motor when a problem exists.
ATLANTA––WEG, a leading supplier of
drive technology and automation solu-
tions, has created an enhanced line of

respectively, and will house 464 units in
1 and 2-bedroom layouts. Located in
downtown Los Angeles in historic Korea
Town, The Vermont concept is to offer
iconic views and be a high-end destina-
tion for living, shopping and dining. As
the ground floor houses restaurants, mar-
kets, banking, and other retail sites, and
the residential spaces that begin on the
seventh floor, the builders knew the tow-
ers would need the right combination of
technology and equipment to reach the
highest efficiency and comfort for this
mixed-use space.
Solution
The Limbach Company realized that by
switching out the originally scoped Water
Source Heat Pumps with an LG Multi V
VRF system, they would be able to install
the system with higher energy efficiency
for about the same cost as the original
plan. The LG Multi V III features higher
energy efficiency, longer piping capabil-
ities, lower operational costs, minimal to
no duct work, tenant comfort with indi-
vidual zoning, and efficiency superior to
other technologies while maintaining ar-
chitectural integrity with zoned comfort.
“Our customer was focused on a
cost-effective building addressing both
construction and sustainability needs, but
also needed to achieve LEED Gold,” Ar-
mando Estrada, Contract Manager and
Project Executive for The Limbach Com-
pany, said. “We proposed an LG VRF
system for their high-rise configuration.
After running preliminary calculations
and confirming building requirements,
we found it was a viable system due to its
equipment sizing and overall cost-sav-
ings in the buildings. The result is that we
now have the first high-rise building in
California utilizing VRF technology de-
livered on budget and on time.”
VRF systems have a much greater
piping capability than traditional Direct
Expansion style systems. Therefore, the
longer line lengths of the Multi V III al-
lowed the piping to run up more than 30
stories, ideal for the two towers that make
up The Vermont. The Multi V III’s flexi-
ble design helped result in a layout that
effectively met Title 24––California’s
Building Energy Efficiency standards––
and ASHRAE requirements for refriger-
ant volume and the contractor’s goals for
the building.
The VRF system will also add to the
overall comfort of the building providing
optimal cooling and heating throughout
the two towers. Additionally, the system
itself is quieter, adding to The Vermont’s
high-end feel making the Multi V the per-
fect choice for the build. LG Electronics
was so impressed with the unique strat-
egy to make the installation work that
The Vermont was awarded the Multi V
Job of the Year Award in recognition for
the most innovative new construction
with a Multi V product.

and money by preventing equipment dam-
age, food spoilage, unneeded service calls,
downtime, premature refills, etc.,” said
Rob Matthes, President of Transducers Di-
rect. “The pressure of any fluid can be
monitored from vacuum to 10,000 psi.
A/C technicians can read refrigerant pres-
sures remotely, without clumsy manifold
gauges. Homeowners can monitor their
own A/C refrigerants, water lines or swim-
ming pool lines, with instant notification
of failures. The sensor also ends refriger-
ant leaks and blowback from manifold
gauges, so it’s EPA-friendly. There’s no
gauge recalibration or adjustment. There
has never been anything like this, and
we’ll be announcing expanded capabilities
for this platform in coming months.”
The U.S.-made CirrusSense sensor
is all digital for ultimate reliability and
accuracy. It eliminates mechanical com-
ponents, wear parts, analog circuitry and
setpoint drift. Unique in design, it uses a
one-piece, precision-machined stainless
steel diaphragm and header. This pro-
vides ten times the life of a conventional
diaphragm and eliminates all springs,
pushrods, micro switches and O-rings.
All wetted parts are stainless steel. It
eliminates amplifiers, filters, and ampli-
fied noise, producing a high-resolution
signal without analog variability or noise
in the circuit. It is easily programmed and
monitored through its app.
The CirrusSense sensor’s proprietary
design includes many industry firsts. It
senses pressure by using a time-to-digital
converter (TDC) to measure the duration
of a capacitive discharge in picoseconds
across the changing resistance in a
Wheatstone bridge atop the diaphragm.
Clever circuitry splits the signal from the
bridge, creating a redundant signal that
ensures continuous machinery operation
if one half should fail.
The CirrusSense sensor is EMI/RFI
protected and sealed to IP-65 rating.
Standard overpressure rating is 2X, with
4X optional. Burst pressure is 5X or
20,000 psi, whichever is less. The Cir-
rusSense sensor is available with a vari-
ety of industry standard pressure-port
connections. Replacement battery packs
are available from Transducers Direct.
