~Liturgy of the Word~ First Reading Acts 6: 1-7 The deacons were chosen from among Greek-speaking converts to care for the needs of widows and others in the Greek-speaking section of the Christian community in Jerusalem because those people were being ignored by the majority, who were Hebrew-speaking. Responsorial Psalm Psalm 33
The English translation of the Psalm Response from the Lectionary for Mass (C) 2012. Music Copyright (C)2012, Marty Haugen by GIA Publications.
Second Reading I Peter 2: 4-9 Many interpreters consider this part of I Peter to be an ancient baptismal homily. Certainly it offers rich images to interpret Baptism as incorporation into the “living” building of the Church which has Christ for cornerstone and as incorporation into the priestly people whose prayer ”in Christ” is heard by the Father. Gospel Acclamation
Mass for John Carroll, The English translation from The Roman Missal, (C) 2012, ICEL. Used with permission. Michael Joncas, (C) 2012, GIA Publications, Inc.
Gospel John 14: 1-12 For Christians there is one way to God – through Christ – but there are many “dwelling places.” Perhaps we need to think of Christ as a rainbow who reveals the pure light of the Father through the spectrum of colors. Homily Renewal of Baptismal Promises Universal Prayer
Archdiocesan Prayer for Vocations
Almighty Father, you have created us for some definite purpose. Grant us the grace to know the path You have planned for us in this life
and to respond with a generous, “Yes.” Make our archdiocese, parishes, homes, and hearts
fruitful ground for Your gift of vocations. May our young people respond to your call with courage and zeal.
Stir among our men a desire and the strength to be good and holy priests. Bless us with consecrated religious
and those called to a chaste single life, permanent deacons, and faithful husbands and wives
who are a sign of Christ’s love for His Church. We commend our prayer for vocations to You, Father,
through the intercession of Mary, our Mother, in the Holy Spirit through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Spiritual communion
My Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to possess You within my soul. Since I am unable at this moment to receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as being already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
