Sunday’s Sermon WHAT TO PRAY THIS WEEK This Sunday’s Music SONGS OF WORSHIP As we prepare for corporate worship, meditate on the lyrics from some of our songs of worship. 1. Pray for those who will lead in worship: Pastor J. Josh Smith Bryant Jones and the MBBC Worship Ministry 2. Pray that the Holy Spirit will move in our corporate gatherings, leading us to exalt Jesus Christ. 3. Pray that MBBC will grow in Christ-exalting, Kingdom-advancing ministry in 2014. 4. Pray that the MBBC Values would become a reality in the hearts and lives of our people as we seek to see people reached and saved by the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ! 5. Pray that God allow us to see his provision in the 7 areas we are praying for together in 2014. Jehovah-jireh is one of God’s most popular names. It literally means “God sees” but is typically translated “God will provide.” Just as a faithful mother will provide for her family by “seeing” to the needs of the household, so God provides for His people by “seeing” to their needs. The names of God reveal His character. The God we serve is a “seeing” God; a God who always provides. This coming Sunday we will examine the story of Abraham’s sacrifice of Isaac in Genesis 22:1-19. This passage is both gut wrenching and awe inspiring. It addresses for us two crucial questions in life. First, why does God take us through circumstances that stretch us to our limit and elude our understanding? Second, on what basis does God provide blessing? Prepare for Sunday by reading and meditating on this story. As you meditate on the passage, ask yourself: How many elements of this story point to Jesus Christ? Why did God test Abraham? Why did God bless Abraham in 22:15-19? Be ready for Sunday. Prepare yourself to meet with the God who sees. -Prelude Music- Various Hymns Feat.

Sunday’s Sermon In response to Sunday’s message, take time to think about these truths and the response questions.

For Kids: Jesus’ Crucifixion and Resurrection Matthew 26:36–28:10;John 18:1–20:18

Big Picture Question for Kids: What did Jesus do for sinners?

Big Picture Answer for Kids: Jesus’ death and resurrection paid the penalty for sins and provided the promise of new life.

Christ Connection: The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is the center of the gospel. We deserve to die because of our sin, but Jesus died in our place. He was the blood sacrifice made once and for all for the forgiveness of sin. God was pleased with Jesus’ sacrifice and raise Jesus from the dead to reign as King over all creation. We are forgiven only through Jesus. (Acts 4:12)

Key Passage: Matthew 21:9

For Teenagers: The Atonement Foreshadowed: Water From the Rock Lesson Text: Exodus 17:1-4, 5-7; 1 Corinthians 10:1-6

Sunday, March 30 | MBBC Values: Faithful Stewardship Truth: We are God’s servants entrusted with God’s resources. The totality of who you are—your gifts, experiences, resources, assignments, etc.—belongs to God. You are a manager, not an owner. God gives us everything we need to do everything He has called us to do. Response: Take time this week to make a list of as many gifts God has given you as you can. Be specific. This can include experiences, the investment other people have made in your life, spiritual gifts and abilities, material resources, relationships, influence, and many other things. Do you see yourself as an owner or manager of these things? What gifts are you stewarding well? What gifts are you not stewarding well? If you have an abundance of any of these gifts (like influence, time, or money), remember, much will be expected. Are you yielding your Master a return on His investment? If you only have a little of any of these gifts, remember, you have everything you need to do what God has called you to do. How can you more faithfully manage what you do have in order to obey the commands God has given you? Begin this week changing your mindset from one of ‘owner’ to a ‘steward’ of God’s resources. Do not dwell on your lack of resources; be grateful for what you do have and believe that it is enough to accomplish what God has for you. Truth: We are God’s servants, accountable for God’s resources. The day is coming when we will all have to give an account of that with which we have been entrusted. On that day, our Master is not looking for us to ‘break even.’ He will be looking for a return on His investment. Truth: As God’s servants, we are rewarded based upon our faithfulness. God’s expectation is proportionate to what He has given you; His reward is based upon your faithfulness. The more you have been given, the more God will expect from you, and those who have been faithful with a little will receive the same reward as those who have been faithful with much. Response: Return to the list you made of the gifts God has given you in life. What would a return look like for each of the items you listed? For example, what would a return look like for the financial resources, experiences, relationships, or abilities God has given you? What specific changes do you need to make in order to become a more faithful steward? Share this with an accountability partner or group and begin making these changes this week. We have been entrusted with so much, and it is easier than we think to be the servant who hides our ‘talents’ in the ground. Embrace the value of faithful stewardship.
