Dear Parents/Guardians, Hello and welcome to the Sunnyside Kindergarten Program! We are pleased to welcome back Mrs. Carrie Durkin and welcome Mrs. Michelle PrimeHoskins for our Neighbourhood Kindergarten program and Ms. Mika Forde for our Montessori Kindergarten program for the 20122013 school year. We are excited to have this opportunity to work with you and your child at Sunnyside Elementary School and are looking forward to meeting you and your child at the Registration Confirmation on Tuesday, September 4 th , 2012. Please bring your child from 10:00 to 11:00 to the Kindergarten rooms (the two most southern classrooms in the Annex building). The following list will enable a more “smooth” beginning to the school year. 1. A supply fee of $55.00 is due the first day of school for students in both Kindergarten classes if you have not already paid. This fee will be used to purchase all your child’s school supplies. Please make cheques payable to Sunnyside Elementary. 2. Regular FullDay Kindergarten Schedule will be from 8:35am to 2:32pm. Please wait outside the back door of the annex with your child until the door is opened at 8:35am. Your child’s teacher will bring the children to the same place for dismissal at 2:32pm. If parents are waiting in the hallway, it creates overcrowding and arrival and dismissal times become difficult. It can also be very distracting. 3. Please be sure that your child’s teacher knows how your child is going home. Furthermore, if it is necessary to change the routine during the year, please do so by writing a note in your child’s book bag. 4. We encourage all parents to become involved in the school. If you would like to volunteer by helping in the classroom, cutting things out, or in some other way, please let your child’s teacher know. 5. Please read with your child every night! All notices/permission forms will be placed in the book bag. Please have your child return the book bag to school each day. Also, if you need to send your child’s teacher any notes, please send them in the book bag. Furthermore, please place any money in an envelope or ZipLoc baggy. Write your child’s name and what the money is for on the outside of the envelope. 6. Please provide your child with a nutritious snack and lunch every day starting September 12 th , 2012. Suggested items include: sliced fruit, crackers, cheese, dried fruit, vegetables etc. 7. If your child is not feeling well, please keep them at home so that their fellow classmates do not become ill as well. Please phone the office to let the secretary know that your child will be absent. 8. Your child’s social and academic success is built on regular attendance and Kindergarten is a great time to develop this habit. Please help your child to be ontime! During this school year, if you should have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or me. You may call me at the school office (604) 5314826. I will return your call soon after. We’re looking forward to a great year! Mr. B. Helland, Principal
