Where John by the sufferance of god sumtyme Abbot of the late monastery of Saint Peter of Westm inster & the priour and covent of the same late howse by their Indenture bearing date in their chapter howse the 12 th day of June in the yere of our lorde god A thousande fyve hundred and alevyn and in the thirde yere of the Reigne of the late famous prynce kyng henry th’eight made betwene the same late Abbott priour & covent on the one p ar tie, And the said William Porter on the other p ar tie w th one assent & consent of all theire Chapter have graunted demysed and to ferme letten unto the same William all that their mano r of Mordon with th’app er tenances in the Countie of Surr ey & all and sing u ler landes & ten emen tes pastures medowes woodes rentes & s er vices with th’app er tenances to the same mano r belonging or app er teyning And also all viewes of Frankpledge or lete there together w th the Courte barons p er quisites and proffittes of the same togeder also w th the Cattelles [ie chattels] of felons Fugytyves dampned p er sonnes owtlawes & felons of themselffes [ie suicides] so often as it fortuneth during the t er me und er wrytten for to come And the foresaid late Abbot & Covent furthermore have by their said Indenture graunted demysed and to ferme lettyn to the foresaid William Porter all that theire R ec torye or p ar sonage of Mordon aforesaid And also all and singuler landes rentes pastures medowes and woodes to the said R ec torye or p ar sonage belonging togeder w th all & singuler tythes oblac i ons and other proffittes and rightes to the same p ar sonage in any wise app er teyning or belonging The gyft nominac i on and presentac i on to the vicarege of Saint Laurence of Mordon aforesaid so often as it shall fall onely excepted and to the said Abbott Pryour & Covent alwayes res er ved To have and to hold the foresaid mano r of Mordon & all and singuler the landes and ten emen tes rentes & s er vices w th th’app er tenances to the same mano r belonging & also all viewes of frankpledge or lete & Courte barons of & w th in the forsaid mano r to be holden w th all p er quysites and proffittes of the same & also the r ec torie & p ar sonage aforesaid and all other the premisses to the same p ar sonage belonging (excepte before excepted), unto the forsaid William Porter his execut or es & assignes frome the feaste of Saint Mighell th’archaungell thenne next en s uiyng after the date of the said lease unto th’ende and t er me of threscore yeres then next folowing fully to be complete Yelding and paiyng therefore yerely c er ten’ rent at c er ten’ feastes as by the same lese amonge other Covenantes therein comp ri sed more fully appeareth, which lease the said William Porter my father by his last will and testament frely gave willed & bequethed unto me the foresaid Mathewe Porter and thereof am nowe lawfully possesyd. ... I the said Mathewe Porter for dyverse consideracions me specially moving have bargayned & solde graunted assigned & settover and by these presentes do fully & clerely bargayne sell graunt assigne & setover

unto John Welche of Sutton in the Countie of Surrey yoman the said Indenture of lease and all my right Interest possession and terme of yeres by vertue thereof in & to the said manor Rectorie & parsonage of Mordonand all other the premysses wth th’appertenances above and specified except before excepted To have holde and enioe the same lease and also the said manor & parsonage of Mordon & all other the premysses wth

th’appurtenances above mencioned except before excepted unto the said John Welche his executores & assignes frome the daye of the date of the presentes unto the ende & full accomplisshement of the said termof 60 yeres & in as ample manner & fourme to all ententes as I the said Mathewe Porter have & ought to have the same by virtue of the said lease & legacy aforesaid And also I the said Mathewe for me my heires& executores do remyse release and quyte clayme to the said John Welche & his assignes all my title state legacye gyft bequest & demaunde of in & to the said manor & parsonage of Mordon & all other thepremysses In Witnes whereof I the said Mathewe have hereunto putt my seale The 25th day of October and the seconde & thirde yeres of the reynes of our soveraign lorde and lady Phillipp and Mary by the graceof god kyng & quene of England Fraunce Naples Jerusalem & Irelande defendors of the fayth prince of Spagne & Cicill [Sicily] Archduke of Austrie Dukes of Myllayn [Milan] Burgundy & Brabande Counties ofHaspurge Flanders and Tyroll.
