Polychem’s lumber press secures loads of lumber, plywood, O.S.B., M.D.F, and particle board with our AAR approved 5/8” polyester strap to improve production efficiency and reduce cost. HOW TO USE A MANUAL TENSIONER & SEALER

1. Depress and hold the tension lever down. Feed the cut end of the strap under the trigger and so it touches against the tool housing. Make sure the strapping extends out front of the tensioner at least two inches.

6. Depress and hold the tension lever down completely to cut the strapping and to release the tool by pivoting the tensioner off to the side.

2. Feed the other end of the strapping around the package and through the slot of the cutter mechanism and also through the slot of the windlass spool.

3. Now move the tension lever forward and back until one achieves the desired tension.

5. Spread open the proper sealer completely and place it square on top of the seal. Now move the sealer levers together to crimp the seal. Open the levers and remove the sealer to reveal the finished seal.

4. Place the proper open metal seal over the two straps as shown.

First, before using any tool , be sure to read and thoroughly understand all of the information for safe operation found in the owner’s manual. Secondly, protective eyeglasses with side shields, heavy gloves, and steel toe shoes must be worn. Lastly, never modify a tool, especially by extending the handle to get more leverage. This could result in a serious injury.

WHY IS SOME STRAP EMBOSSED?Some strapping (mostly polypropylene) is embossed for several reasons. Embossing the strapping may reduce splitting and provides a better seal joint efficiency in heat seal machines. Embossing also provides greater flexibility for the strapping.

WHAT IS THE BEST METAL SEAL FOR SMOOTH POLYESTER AND POLYPROPYLENE STRAPPING?

Polychem sells both serrated and standard metal seals. Serrated seals provide maximum seal efficiency on smooth polyester and polypropylene strapping. For embossed Polypropylene use standard open or closed seals.

WHAT IS THE CORRECT WAY TO THREAD METAL OR PLASTIC BUCKLES?

Steel or plastic buckles are threaded basically the same way. First fold one end of the plastic or cord strapping back on itself forming a three inch loop and push the loop through the center of the buckle and work and work it down tight over one of the open prongs as the illustration shows. Going in the direction of the

wrapped prong, work the strap around the package and take the strap coming from the coil and form another 3 inch loop. Insert the newly created loop through the center of the buckle and over the remaining prong and pull down tight. To obtain the desired tension, hold the strap around the carton with one hand and pull the strap coming from the carton to tighten. Then cut the strap leaving a couple of inches.
