tothefuturegrowthofthisspecialevent.

SUCCESSES•  AllMeetGreenminimumguidelinesweremetbythefacility!

•  100%eliminationofplasticbottledwater,over1,822waterbottles!

•  TheHiltonprovidedbeveragerefrigeratorstopreventwastingice(andwater)tocoolthebeverages.

•  Theregistrationbrochurewasreducedfrom24pagesin2016to20pagesin2017.

•  Chinaserviceusedforcateringfunctions.

•  Conferencesignageproducedonfalconboard,whichwasrecycledbythehotel.

•  Sustainabilityinitiativeswerecommunicatedtoattendeesviatheconferencewebsite,inthe“knowbeforeyougo”email,aswellasononsitesignage.

•  Remainingpreparedfoodwasdonatedtohotelstaff.

•  TheConferencesourcedlocaloptionsforvendorswheneverpossibleandsupportedlocalbusinesses.Inaddition,theconferenceconsideredtheirenvironmentalinitiativesasanimportantcomponentofawardingcontracts..

FUNFACTS•  Byeliminatingthepaperprogram,PNCWAsaved47,372gallonsofwater!•  TheConferenceprohibitedthepre-Zillingofglassesatplatedmeals,whichpreventedthewasteof10.5ozofwaterperglassleftuntouched.FortheAwardsBanquetalone,thisequatedtocloseto8gallonsofwatersaved!

•  Bynotprovidingplasticwaterbottles,andonlyprovidingwaterbubblersforattendees,itsavedtheequivalentof1,822plasticwaterbottlesfromthelandZill,savingenoughenergytoruna75wattlightbulbfor26,419hoursorenoughenergytorunanAmericanhouseholdfor1,822hours.

•  Ateachcoffeebreak,theuseofchina,notdisposablecoffeecup,saved255lbsofwastefromalandZill,whichequatedtoover1700lbsofwastethatwasavoidedonthebreaksSunday–Wednesday!

•  Ifeveryoneparticipatedinthelinenreuseprogram,itsaved1,184gallonsofwater.

ECOSHUTTLESTheConferenceofferedashuttleforattendeesbetweenthesecondaryhotel,theJantzenBeachRedLion,andtheConferenceVenue,theHiltonVancouver,aswellastransportationservicestothreeoffsitetours.

TheConferenceprioritizedareducedimpactandcontractedEcoShuttles.TheEcoShuttleZleet’sprimaryfuelsourceisRenewableDiesel(R99).RenewableDieselismadeofnonpetroleumrenewableresourceslikeanimalfats,vegetableoils,andgreases.It’sessentiallythehydrogenatedbyproductofagriculturalfoodandlivestock,andcanbeputindieseltankswithoutblending,andithaszeroperformanceissueslikebiodiesel.

Inaddition,theshuttlesprovidedwereallADA-accessibletopromotethecultureofinclusion,whichisacardinalvalueforPNCWA.
