The positive impactof infrastructure in
driving economic growth in cities is increasingly well
understood. It has been estimated amongst G20 countries that a one
percent GDP increase in infrastructure spending can lead to a multiplier effect
of between 1.0 to 2.5 over a three year period in high income countries. The
impact is greatest in emerging economies. For example the investment benefit is
doubled or more in Brazil, India and China.
