Well-trained staff makes the difference. As the training

institute for the cleaning industry, we therefore make

every effort to work with you in order to train your em-

ployees to become skilled cleaning professionals. More

than 9,000 students find their way to SVS each year.

With the necessary expertise, your employees will

achieve a brilliant cleaning result in a healthy way.

What’s more, a training course gives your employees the

confidence that they deserve.

Whether you perform the cleaning in-house or outsource

it, SVS organises training courses in every branch of the

cleaning industry, wherever and whenever you like.

is that we allow your employees to flourishOur added value

Since 1977, our aim is to encourage, organise and implement training courses for employees involved in professional cleaning services. SVS now offers more than sixty vocational, framework and management courses. All SVS courses are very practical and are characterised by ‘learning by doing’, simulating the employees’ activities. We focus on ergonomics, effectiveness and ef-ficiency, safety, social skills and hospitality. Our teachers and trainers have extensive experience in the transfer of knowledge and practical skills. What’s more, they all come from a background in the cleaning industry, so they know the workplace and culture. This quickly makes students feel at ease.

Cleaning companies, hospitals, care facilities, universities, property managers, hotels or sheltered employment companies; we can provide customised courses to every client with a large number of cleaning staff. In a class with only participants from your company, our teachers can focus more deeply on company-specific circumstan-ces. SVS can also train your employees through Training on the Job. This means that your employees are mainly trained by an SVS teacher whilst carrying out their nor-mal cleaning tasks in the workplace. This prioritises daily practice and limits lost-time costs.

Cleaning companies that fall under the CLA for the Cle-aning and Window Washing Industry receive an allowance from the Council for Work Relations in the Cleaning and Window-washing Industry (RAS) for the training costs of various SVS courses. This makes training even more ap-pealing. After just one phone call, we take over practically all supervision of your employees who have yet to be trained. From scheduling in the participants to providing exam results and certificates, we will arrange it. Of course, we will keep you informed of everything, and we are always available for questions and comments, before, during and after the course(s).

Cleaning is a profession. Therefore, a cleaner

cannot go without the necessary basic know-

ledge of cleaning methods and techniques. The

training course that will get every employee

started is the Basic Cleaning Course of SVS.

General Cleaning Maintenance

We help (new) cleaners in all cleaning industries to get started. The Basic Cleaning Course can be supplemented with various modules. In addition to general cleaning services, the focus of these modules is on traditional cle-aning methods (cleaning cloths and mops that are rinsed in buckets with a cleaning solution), cleaning in health-care, schools and nurseries or cleaning in hotels and the leisure industry. Our various teaching materials with many instructional photographs and explanatory texts allow all target groups to follow an SVS course.

In the Basic Cleaning Course, participants learn to clean in a safe and practical manner, according to the microfi-bre method, with all the relevant materials and products. In order to prevent physical symptoms and absenteeism, the focus in all SVS courses is on the correct work at-titudes. We also focus on social skills, the environment and the CLA. The lessons are easily accessible, with a highly practical focus, and we mainly practice a lot. Our teachers create a relaxed atmosphere, making students feel confident and at ease. This leads to more motivation and an even better cleaning quality.

If you want to train several employees at once, we would be happy to organise a company group for you. You can start this type of group training with only your own employees almost anywhere and at any time. We can also train your employees in their familiar working environment through Training on the Job. This will teach your employees the cleaning trade through the curriculum as well as their own activities. This means that you will not miss them at work and you will save a considerable amount on lost-time costs.

The Basic Cleaning Training of SVS is the foundation for

every new cleaner, but a specialist cleaner won’t get far

if they only know about general cleaning services. In our

specialist and safety courses, current and/or future

employees learn everything they need to know

about cleaning in their specialist

cleaning sector.

pants to practice with ladders, platforms, façade systems and pressure washers. We use the latest and appro-ved suspension and climbing materials and personal protection equipment. Participants are therefore always assured of a safe learning environment. Our various safety courses focus on concepts such as safety, risk, ac-cident and prevention. For example, working safely with a platform requires more than the correct operation of the buttons. In order to be able to guarantee the safety of the operator and persons and objects in the direct vicinity, a good basic knowledge of the operation of the machine is required, as well as a practical training accor-

SVS has courses in the area of window washing, cleaning after emergencies (including fire and water damage), façade maintenance, cleaning in the food pro-cessing industry, graffiti removal, floor maintenance and cleaning on public transport (buses, trams, metros, tou-ring cars or trains). Specialist vocational training courses are real practical courses with much more practice than theory and with a lot of guidance from our teachers. We usually provide the specialist courses in the SVS National Training Centre for Specialist Cleaning (LOSR) at Kleefse Waard business park in Arnhem. This location has various facilities for realistic practical sessions. This allows partici-

ding to (inter)nationally recognised standards (IPAF). In addition to a theory component, our safety courses are very practice-oriented with plenty of tasks and exercises. Effective communication promotes safe and correct work. That’s why we also offer courses on occupational aspects such as coaching leadership, work discussions and the prevention of absenteeism due to psychological issues (caused by stress or problems at work or in the employee’s private life). A good talk can go a long way.

Every branch of cleaning is different. That is

why we offer customised training solutions.

We are happy to discuss with you the

possibilities for starting a customised

training course within your organisation.

this will be arranged on days and times that suit you and if desired at your location or object. We can even develop customised teaching materials for you, with specific photos of cleaning methods and materials used by your organisation. Such a customised course booklet, designed in your company’s style, shows the specific attention to the training of your staff. It makes an SVS course even more appealing and recognisable for your employees. What’s more, this allows you to clearly transfer your method and business culture to your (new) cleaning staff. We offer training courses for various target

Because SVS has thousands of students every year, we have a large critical mass to quickly respond to questions from the market. In addition to our normal courses, we are therefore happy to develop customised courses that closely correspond to your personal training needs. A specific target group or a special design, a large or small number of employees, several sessions or a short training course: the possibilities are endless. In order to better anticipate company-specific elements, we only organise our customised courses, training and workshops for groups of employees from one company. Of course,

groups, including non-native speakers and participants with special needs. For example, our teachers know the specific focus points of Sheltered Employment (SW), the sector that helps people with physical, psycholo-gical and/or mental disabilities find real jobs. An SVS vocational diploma can offer these students plenty of opportunities in the labour market.

Executive cleaning employees and new managers

can enjoy one of our executive training courses. These

courses are about independent leadership of a group of

cleaners in various branches of the cleaning industry.

In order to also guarantee the cleaning quality,

supervisors, (mid-level) executives,

consultants and managers can take one

of our DKS (Daily Cleaning Check)

and VSR-KMS courses.

Executives & ManagementVSR Quality Measurement System

Managers in the cleaning industry will of course aim for quality. SVS can help you to guarantee this quality, through a training course on the quality measurement system of the Association for Cleaning Research (VSR). The DKS (Daily Cleaning Check) and VSR-KMS (VSR Quality Measurement System) are useful measurement tools, because dirty and clean are subjective concepts. Using the quality measurement system, cleaning companies and clients can determine objectively and rationally whether the cleaning performance meets the commitments made.

We do not have to teach our (prospective) managers any more about good cleaning. But we do like to teach them how to plan, discuss and instruct their employees. Delegation, organisation, coaching; communication is the common theme in the workplace and in our executive courses. Using the example situations and role plays, the participants are persistently confronted with their ope-ration and their responsibilities in the cleaning company. In this way, current and future managers learn to get the best out of themselves and their employees.

The DKS is a quick and simple random sampling test of the quality of cleaning work performed. In the more detailed VSR Quality Control and VSR-KMS Quality Inspection training courses, the focus is on a final check in accordance with the contractual agreements between a cleaning company and the client. Prospective quality controllers mainly learn to carry out checks and to assess the quality control objectively. In addition, prospective quality inspectors learn to perform results analyses and manage internal employees in relation to the quality measurement and the reporting of this.

Be inspired by some of our satisfied clients.

Peter NoletOperations Director of Van Adrichem (ZH):

“Our cleaning staff are essential for the value of our services. We believe that we should train our employees and allow them to learn how great the job is. A nice added bonus is the team spirit that a training course creates amongst colleagues.”

Truus van HulstDirector of Hodal B.V. (FL):

“Even in the cleaning industry it is important that you keep up to date with all the changes. This includes ergonomic work, sustainable materials and changes to the products used. It might be something that you don’t often think about, but it is certainly very important.”

William PolDirector of Menno Sappé Reinigingsdiensten (FR):

“I want my employees to know exactly what they are doing. That awareness leads to efficiency. So it’s not about working harder, but about working smarter.”
