Swim Team Information
• Website: mortonswim.com• Facebook: Morton Otters Swim Team (closed group)• Cancellations posted on Facebook and website• Family mail boxes
Practices• Practice times: 13+ 7:00 am, 11 – 12 8:00 am, 10 and under 9:00 am• Kids should be ready to be in the water at designated time• Mandatory practice Monday through Thursday• Optional practice Friday (7 – 8:30 stroke clinic, 8:30 – 9:30 dry land)• Parents must stay off pool deck during practice – talk with coach after
practices end or contact coach through email• Email coach to let him know of absences• 2 hour practices - maybe• Swimmer must be present day of practice in order to swim at that
night’s meet
Swim Meets
• Sign up online• Check online and posting at pool for swimmer events• Warm-ups usually 30 minutes before meet• Coaches assign swimmers to events• Swimmers check in with coach after swimming an event• Stay until your swimmers events are completed• Results posted online after meet
Swim Meets
• Two to three away meets may be reserved for swimmers who don’t get as much opportunity to swim• Tazewell County entry fee included in park district registration• “Meet Maker” times possible depending on team size• Tazewell County meet being held in Tremont
Swim Meets – Volunteers
• Vital for meet to run• Needed at home meets and invitational meets• Volunteer one time per swimmer• Jobs: set up/tear down, computers, announcer, runner, timer, head
timer, awards, bullpen, floater• Check in at computer table upon arriving• Vests for bullpen volunteers
Swim Team Policies
• Swimmer must be present at practice in order to swim in that night’s meet
• No-show at a swim meet will result in ineligibility at next meet
• If swimmer leaves before an assigned event, ineligible for next meet
Volunteers – Help Needed
We need volunteers to oversee the following:• Promotions – send swim team info to newspaper, etc.• Supplies – paper, water, staples, etc.• Swim meet volunteers - make sure all positions covered and check in• Awards – order ribbons, oversee ribbon distribution, etc.• Head timer
Scoreboard
• Grant from Morton Community Foundation - $4000• Park District covering cost of caddy• Donations can be made to the park district• $2300 to raise• July 6 is Pizza Ranch night• DQ night in the works
Tonight• Orders placed at try-on night can be picked up at the pool• Spirit Wear available for order during pool party – orders due Friday• Limited practice suits for purchase• Enjoy Culver’s custard or lemon ice here or at the pool sponsored by
