Content Pre-positioning Cache devices (CPC)
Currently Sydney Region has installed 70 CPC devices in schools. The CPC appliance provides two main types of services:
(i) Digital Learning Objects DET has been involved in The Learning Federation's projects for development of "digital learning objects" . Given the size of the repository (around 300 Gb), the most reliable method is to use a caching service available inside each school or college LAN to hold the content, and to ensure that cache contents are reliably maintained and updated as new content is released.
(ii) Computer management & maintenanceThe ability to store and deploy a variety of maintenance software:Antivirus updates and Microsoft updatesGeneral software, disk images, PC management - via an Altiris Package Server cache which allows PXE booting from the network & re-imaging workstations, software distribution
Network services - DHCP, DNS, WINS

CC primary school days 2007
From 2007 Sydney Region will conduct three Primary school CC days, North, Central and South and one High school CC day
The decision was based on the increasing difficulty in attracting presenters able to attend four primary school days and two high school days and booking appropriate venues for six days.
We believe that three days will still allow choice in terms of your attendance and will maximise attendance at all of the venues.
Venues and dates for the 2007 K-6 days are:
Sydney Girls’ High School-Tuesday of week 8Oatley Senior High School- Wednesday of week 8Miranda Regional Office- Thursday of Week 8

The 7-12 Tech-Know-TourThis provided the opportunity for the high school teachers attending to view the ICT programs, activities and student work of other high schools. ITSU is undertaking and audit and upgrade of one high school as a result of this tour.
The K-6 Tech-Know-TourThis provided the opportunity for the primary school teachers attending to view the ICT programs, activities and student work of other primary schools. The comments and feedback were very positive with many teachers expressing an interest in the technology and teaching practices observed during the visits.
