We use composites engineering techniques to unlock the performance advantages of wood and other low-carbon, structural bio-fibers and enable their competitive application to challenging engineering uses, such as bicycle frames. This enables Sylvan to produce a competitive and highly differentiated product into a surprisingly undifferentiated market. For example, Sylvan’s engineered wood-composite bicycle frames are 20% lighter than comparable steel tubes, have superior shock absorption, use sustainable regional materials -- and are visually stunning.

Sylvan’s proprietary wood composite techniques enable it to make bicycles not only of comparable performance to those made with more traditional materials, but that also offer distinctive performance and market advantages, such as ride quality, aesthetics, and authentic “green”.
