HERMAN MILLER DNA.

Symbiote opened in 1984 to develop custom solutions for Herman Miller's Action Factory products. Previously, our founder was on the Herman Miller team known for launching the original, modular healthcare system. Our company has evolved, yet our heritage remains the same—rooted in innovation, excellence and forward thinking.

USER-CENTRIC PRODUCTS. We have a deep knowledge of the healthcare and medical markets. Even more important, we under-stand how people work in lab envi-ronments. Our products feature height adjustability, integrate technology and utilize storage and work tools to maximize workplace efficiencies—all so people can do their best work. With ergonomics always in mind, our products are made for the way people move and work in lab spaces, clinics or pharmacies. And, they integrate with Herman Miller Co/Struc® and Action Office® furniture.

ADAPTABLE FURNITURE.

Physical workspaces are moving from static to flexible to support the way people work. It is not just about the space; our furniture, equipment, and utilities need to be adaptable too.

Traditional labs—with rows of fixed casegoods—now feature modular, mobile benches and tables that roll easily to other areas. This encourages cross-functional sharing of knowledge and equipment. Power and data connections are run via cable ducts for vertical and horizontal cable management for easy “plug and play” capabilities.

DESIGN SERVICES.Our knowledge, integrity and ease of doing business are why customers remain with us. We provide A&D firms, lab planners, engineers, independent designers and end users with product speci-fication and dimensional drawings to incorporate into their overall project. Also, 3D renderings clearly communicate what has been designed and will be provided. Our network of dealers and reps can manage every detail.

OUR LAB SYSTEM.We start with a heavy duty, steel frame equipped with glides or casters. The UltraFrame supports a load capacity of 1,000 pounds per side. Frames and panels come in five widths: 24-30-36-48-60 inches and four heights: 48-62-80-96 inches.

Next, supports are added to make connections and increase frame capacity. A one-sided workstation is supported at each end; a back-to-back station is supported on both sides. Additional support is added at appropriate intervals on all frames to accomodate storage, display and other work tools.

For a frame height up to 96 inches, the support must equal the depth of the deepest load bearing component such as a surface or shelf. Panel connectors are added on straight runs with equal height panels; there is no dimensional gain. Bolt a C Leg to the face of an UltraFrame; there is no dimen-sional gain. For casters, install a Joiner Plate at all connections in addition to the panel and corner connectors.

WORKSURFACES AND SUPPORT. Select a 24” or 30” common depth or 36” for extra deep equipment. To maximize a surface area place large equipment on shelves positioned above the worksurface. Support brackets are sold sepa-rately with many options avail-able. Attached surfaces must be supported on both ends. Work-surfaces over 60” wide require a cantilever support centered between the two ends.

STORAGE AND DISPLAY.Easily reposition components to vertical frame slots in one-inch increments; hanger clips prevent accidental dislodging. Many fasten to a hanger clip with a screw, making installation more secure.

HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE TABLES.

Three electric and pin-adjustable models are available in worksurface lengths of 48-96 inches. Tables support loads from 750-1,000 pounds, evenly distributed.

SIT/STAND WORKSTATION.

The height adjustable ErgoStat bench is innovative; its structural Riser Frame adds overhead storage and hanging components. The Riser Frame and components electrically or manually move up and down with the worksurface thus maintaining ergonomic relationships and productivity reach distances. Worksurface widths range from 24-96 inches. An ErgoStat supports up to 750 pounds and adjusts up to 15 inches in height to go from seated to standing position.

MATERIALS.

Choose from standard or custom paint colors and fabrics. Surfaces include Pheonolic resin, Chemsurf® laminate or stainless steel. Steel components and cabinets are powder coated.

THE WORKHORSE

The pin-adjustable design gives users a easy way to add heavy-duty support for large equipment. It features a height adjustment range of 14” for seated or standing positions.

POWER AND UTILITIES

The electric or pin-adjustable table has a 15” height adjust-ment range and a gross dynamic load capacity of 750 pounds.

HOW YOU MOVE

Take advantage of vertical space by mounting adjustable shelves to a Riser Frame. Shelving, bin rails and other hanging work tools move safely with the surface as the height adjusts.

VERTICAL STORAGE

A taller workstation offers extra adjustable overhead storage. Add storage cabinets below the surface and casters for mobile convenience. Varied height work-surfaces offer ergonomic support and lots of customization.

CONFIGURE BACK-TO-BACK

Double the linear feet of a lab bench with a double-sided design, with twice the storage and work-surface area. Slatwall frees up worksurfaces and organizes tools. Each side can be configured and reconfigured as needed.

OPTIONS TO GROW

A phenolic resin drying rack and trough is added over the sink for drying glassware. Upper and lower cabinets add storage capacity; a vertical utility chase allows for the routing of utilities to and from the ceiling and floor.
