• SOURCE is an annual university-wide forum for CWU students representing all disciplines to share their mentored research, scholarship, and creative work in a juried environment designed to enhance their professional skills.

What does SOURCE do?• Offers students a professional

forum to sharpen presentation skills.

• Attracts the attention of employers to the excellence of CWU students.

• Celebrates the depth and diversity of scholarly inquiry and creative expression at CWU.

• Promotes a sense of community and inclusivity by encouraging students from all academic disciplines to participate.

Benefits to SOURCE Presenters• Participation can take the form of an oral, poster, video, or online

presentation, a creative performance, or a creative exhibition.• Students presenting at SOURCE:– Prepare written abstracts briefly describing their original work– Clearly communicate complex ideas to their peers.– Effectively use technology as a tool for organizing,

representing, and communicating information.– Meet deadlines, schedules, and expectations associated with

participating in a professional conference.– Respond appropriately to critiques of, questions about, and

feedback on their work.– Develop enhanced verbal communication, public speaking,

and job interviewing skills3

• Non-presenting students attending SOURCE sessions are:– Exposed to and engage in

understanding disciplines and topics that are not parts of their standard curriculum

– Recognize the broad scope and accessibility of meaningful research and creative activity.

– Formulate meaningful questions for and critiques of the work of their peers.

– Exhibit appropriate behavior in the context of a professional conference.

Event Planning, Coordination, and Judging, including event labor and computers for sessions (Donated by faculty and staff on the SOURCE Committee and throughout the campus and local community)

Services & Activities Fee Request• No curriculum or tuition dollars are associated

with SOURCE.• SOURCE is free to presenters and attendees,

including the campus and Ellensburg community.• Services & Activity fees would directly benefit

students by paying for 1) the use of the SURC; and 2) copies of SOURCE programs distributed to student presenters.– In particular, funding is being requested for items that

have substantially increased in cost (e.g., more rooms, more equipment, more SOURCE programs to be distributed) as student participation as increased.
