The Government of Syria is notified in advance of each shipment and a UN monitoring mechanism was established to oversee loading in neighboring countries and confirm the humanitarian nature of consignments. UN cross-border responseHumanitarian supplies covering various sectors are delivered by UNHCR, UNICEF, UNFPA, WFP, WHO, FAO andIOM. The beneficiary numbers represent people reached by relief items and supplies transported in trucks using border crossing from Turkey as authorized by the resolution 2504 (formerly 2165 in 2014 and 2449 in 2018 ).

UN agencies, in addition to supplies, also implement programmes to ensure that people receive basic servicessuch as education, health, nutrition, protection, water and sanitation etc. The first UN shipment from Turkeystarted on 24 July 2014.

In addition, 541,261 children aged 6-59 months and 1.1m children aged 5-15 years received the measles vaccines. In 2017, 1.02 million children under five vaccinated through polio campaigns. 54,618 children under one year reached with routine vaccination (DTP3 containing vaccine). In 2016, 1.38 million children vaccinated in polio campaigns in Aleppo, Al-Hasakeh, Ar-Raqqa, Deir-ez-Zor, Hama, Homs, Idleb and Lattakia.
