versed by another Court. Both d these men were awarded their back pay and the
Township wtll undoubtedly be put to considerable legal expense besides. \
Something seems to be wrong and many are the théorie- advanced.
Thc most prevalent is that the fault lies with the Commis sien term of government. Each commissioner is ccsponsihie fo: and is the boss of his own department. ■
Any Commissioner can make a blunder in his own depart ment that will .be ever so costly tQ the whole Township ant. Board ot Commissioners and no other Commissioner seems abl ti do anything about it.
We do not by any stretch of the imagination wish to com pare Lyndhurst with Newark, but Newarks governing body is ir J mess and it will be recalled that the creuse» offered weic mainly: ‘i t was not in my department, I'm not to blame."
Under the Councilroanic government, enjoyed by our sur n adding municipalities, the whole Council is responsible and n exclusive authority is given any member of any whole depart ment. . — «5 — / .
W e do not know what is wrong but this seems like » at : J an argument as any.

LOOKING 'EM OVER

The Golden Bears basketball quintet «¡ropped the fir* two games of the season. Last Friday night they lost to a strongKearny team 31-28 and last Tuesday night they were taken over by what was supposed to be a-weak Fort Lee aggregation with a score of 30-J7. Which proves thaf the best way to be anexpert trecoster is to wait until the game is over before picking the winner.
But the Bears will hit their stride when they travel away to Cliffside Park Saturday. The local lads will come throughwith a win and by a good margin.
Frank Reilly is making a strong bid to become one of Lynd- hur<t basketball greats, in the Kearny game he was high scorer, lor the Lyndhurst team with nine points. And in the Fort Lee ci mtest he also showed his teammates the way by scoring six and [he most pojnts. He plays his guard position in a sweet way.
T> Giach Murburg the Kearny loss can be attributed directly t • the new center ruling. Because the center )ump is eliminated in my fouls were caused by the Lyndhurst team and also by the Ke.L'ny team. It not only caused the Bears to play off form, but each tool they caused gave the Kearny team an extra point try and since Lyndhurst only lost by three points, it can easily be seen that had the Bears caused a few less fouls, they may have beaten the Kearny team.
( )ur head pinner across the page missed up on a good bowl- i;; article. It concerns George Himsel of Pust Avenue who is
imt only rated the best pin knocker over in this town but also held the amateur championship of the state at one time. He’s howled according to his wife (George doesn't know his wife brags about him—in a ipodest way of course) tlvee, three hundred garni* and two 299 games,
The local bowlers will admit, when feeling in a benevolent m od, that those arc goad .scores. W e know a couple of alley t rodders who would turn handsprings if they could knock off a

It's a definite fact that Tommy Gash and Henny DeRen «I« will go to Princeton University on football scholarships soon First they will spend a year at Hun School which is a prepar atory school directly related to Princeton.
