What's Inside? Dear Readers, Having breathed for most part of my life as a Yadavindrian until now, it is an extremely challenging task for me to sum up all that I want to say in this limited space for my last Editorial. Always remember that growing up at YPS gives you an insight into your self-worth and the limits to which you can stretch your abilities, that is, till you achieve excellence. But this shall only happen if you make the most of your time here. I remember I had forgotten my poem midway while reciting it on the mic for the first time in Grade 5. But finally, in Grade twelve, I could confidently go up to the podium and speak impromptu in the School Assembly. So just don’t let go of 'ANY' opportunity which comes your way. Even if you are likely to fail, do it just for the sake of tasting failure because this will make your final success taste sweeter than ever. Above all, remember- Life is not about achieving your ideals, it is about living to strive for such achievement. It was while leading this Editorial Board that I observed this 'striving' prominently in my teammates which made me proud of the diligent and consistent effort put in by them throughout the year. Never will I be able to forget those sleepless nights spent on the Oracle just as the deadline for each issue approached, for the day never provided us enough hours to compile all the reports! A special mention here deservedly goes to my Editors- Harsimrat and Pavit. To sit with my team, rack all our brains for more intriguing ideas every time, select the best of those and integrate them to ultimately present a feast of these sixteen pages, for yours eyes, has been a truly amazing experience. From the Issue No. on the cover page to the format of all the dates, from verification of class and section of all prize winners to adding a caption to each picture, working on all peculiarities was definitely not a piece of cake but, nevertheless, it was fun. Marking the beginning of a new decade, my team presents to you the newsletter in a brand new format. And with this new endeavour, I wish the best of luck to the next Editorial Board and am confident that they will perform fabulously well, taking the Oracle to greater heights with each issue. • A group of 15 students, accompanied by Ms. Kiran Rai, DHM, and Dr Nidhi Khurana attended the TEDxChandigarh on 12 January 2020 at the Tagore Theatre. TEDx Chandigarh is a global thought leadershipplatform that brings together ideas that are shaping the world. The theme was THE FUTURE: REIMAGINEDwith 18 speakers from diverse fields, like robotics, stem cell research, artificial intelligence, law andentertainment, from across the global, like the USA, the UK, Singapore and India. Among the illustriousspeakers were an 11 year old environmentalist, a former IAS officer, a popular television actor, a worldacclaimed dancing prodigy from India and a famous British actor and youtuber. Another inspirational speaker was Sarvjeet Singh, who was falsely accused of molesting a girl. He chronicledhis legal journey of getting justice for himself and revealed the perils of viral pictures and videos. The presidentof Hanson robotics (the company that created Sophia robot) told us how robots will make our life easier. Thefounder of ANRA technologies, (a company which makes drones) introduced the audience to a world wherecars could fly and make travel easier. A local engineer and ISB graduate, the founder of A2p energy, who solvedthe crisis of burning paddy was also highly motivational. A talk by Stem Cell scientist, Dr. Sandhya Sriram, from Singapore, whose company makes meat without killing animals, created a lot of interest amongststudents. It was an eye opener for the students to hear these engaging speakers from diverse cultures andbackgrounds talk about their struggle, mission and vision. It motivated the students to think out of the box.The speakers had novel innovative ideas that inspired the students and there were much animated talks aboutthe speakers and their content after the event. The school must encourage participation in such events andgive an opportunity to the attendees to formally disseminate their learning amongst other students.

Joyeux Noel!! The Feast Day of Christ awaited by all eagerly was celebrated onDecember 20 to throw light on its importance. The morning assembly sparkled upwith red and green and everyone was ready to uplift their hearts with carols andbells jingling all the way. The celebration delivered the message of affection, care, happiness and peace. The entire school was enlightened up by a zestful andexuberant prayer. The school choir sang numerous carols so mellifluously that itunited the singers and listeners in the magical power of music to make thesebeautiful gaieties memorable. The phenomenal dance performed by the girls firedthe joy of the celebration. Mr. Sukirat dressed up as Santa brought gifts andchocolates for the students and made this celebration indelible in the minds of theaudience. The bewildering celebration certainly made this day worth remembering.

YogendraSingh who displayed his valourduring the Kargil War alongwith officials from the BritishArmy. The teachers along withthe students did a wonderful joband their potential was testedon the first day of the eventwhen it started to rain, all of asudden there was utter chaosbut, the students unitedly stoodtheir ground, they looked afterthe guests, escorted them totheir respective venuesmeticulously.

What completely struck us wasthat in spite of their school kitbeing wet and soiled from theheavy downpours from theprevious day, the students  wereall ready for the second day withperfect turnouts and going on todo a commendable job. Thesessions particularly by theHonourable Chief Ministerabout Article 370 and theKashmir Issue, and thediscussion about India’sContributions in First andSecond World Wars amazed meand many more present. It wassuch a good show that itchanged our minds aboutmilitary history being boring tofind it so interesting thatresearching it almost everydayhas become a part of ourroutine.

To start off, I want to begin with apoint that my mom always usedto tell me when I asked her to do ortry something new. Take playingvideo games, for example, I wouldtake an example of a friend and saythat he already plays them, but thereply would always be the same...“Let him do that, I want you to beyourself, as you are already goodenough.”  The point I want to putforward to you is that “BE UNIQUE”and don’t be influenced by others. Iknow I am being very preachy bytouching this sensitive

topic of peer pressure, but what’s trueis true, and you should always be truetoo yourself. Remember, in life, youdon’t have to please or satisfy others, but you need to please yourself, andfulfill your own potential, and not beworried about what others think ofyou. The very thought of being uniqueand the power to be so resides in ourmind and body, and all you need to dois get out of our comfort zone, as afterthat, there will be no stopping you. Beas special as you want to be

and don’t get carried away, or juststart playing cricket becauseeveryone is doing so. Stop aspiring tobe a doctor if all your friends do so.Realize your own potential andchoose accordingly, because you arethe best judge of yourselves.  So,remember, always be unique! In theend, I would like to include anexcerpt of my favourite poem byRobert Frost:“Two roads diverged ina wood, and I?I took the path lesstravelled by,  And that has made allthe difference.”

    Be Unique.

The StoryOnce there was a big kingdom

which was ruled by a very strictking. The king was very proud of

his strict behaviour and he wouldoften punish his helpers for small

mistakes. One day he observedthat he had been left with lesshelpers. He didn’t even have a

cook to make food. So he decidedto keep a new cook. He finally got

    one named Tom.

After a few days the new cook alsomade a mistake The king told himthat he didn’t want to see his face

again. Tom left the palace andwent towards the jungle. He felt

tired after some time and satdown. He saw a pot lying under a

tree. He had an idea. He madeholes in the pot to see through it.He wore the pot on his head and

    went to the palace.

The king was very amused to seeTom like this in the palace again.

Tom asked the king what heshould cook for dinner. The king

got furious and said, “I had toldyou not to show your face again.”Tom said, “Your Majesty, You had

told me not to show my face so Ihave worn a pot on my head to

cover it.” The king burst intolaughter and said, “I want chicken

soup for dinner.” And the kingenjoyed Tom’s dishes thereafter.

Moral of the Story: Sometimesyour foolishness can save you

    from punishment.

Each person has his own story;sorrow or glory.

    But there is nobody with whomhe shares;

the one who actually cares! While watering the flower pots.

thinking 'bout the food which rotsOn there, in the dustbins of the

    rich.Most of it, which,

the poor would kill to savour--the rotten flavour

Sinking, I try to hold my heart;wishing to take their problems

away on a cart. But on all these things I cannot

work all alone.Need the love and support to he

shown;Needing the powers of the others

    Including my own sisters andbrothers;

Rise, I will to this imbalance--To finish the rich people's non-

chalanceWhich can vanish away in a flurry. But to all what is kept deep within

the heart,Is the warmth and kindness that

    never departs...

    - Agam Sadiora & Jasreen Kaur (IX T)

health hazards for ourselves, and others too.We are destroying the beauty of ourprecious India.  We should not spreadgarbage on the road. We should try andcarpool with others. We need to plant moreand more trees for a greener environment. Each one of us should shun plastic and userecyclable bags. Friends, let’s join hands andmake a conscious effort towards making ournation clean, green and disease free. Weshould try our best to save our country.
