Bass is Fun

On the upper floor of the giant basket two widelyspaced spiders are working. In between, the XXL-supply litz wires are laid out.

For the secure routing of the huge swing unitthe T3 has two boardlike spiders, which sit at some distance from each other in the basket. The extremely stable surround takes over quite a bit of the leadership. The cone consists of a reinforcing honeycombstructure made out of ultra stable aramidfiber, sitting in a sandwich between twolayers of glass fiber mats. This cone contributes regardless of its size only a bit weigth to the enormous moving mass. The weight sits rather in the coil former, together with the two giant voice coils.

Lab and SoundOur measurements show a very low natural resonance of 26 Hz, and a very small VAS of 117 liters for this cone area, just feasible for a use in a car.The low Q-factor of 0.33 is ideal for precise vented applications.

Our test enclosure had dinky 245 liters, who wants to have it as small as possible, can start from 150 liters net.The test enclosure delivered a flat frequency response to 20 Hz and of course power without ending. In practical use, the giant Rockford woofer surprised us with a really great sound quality performance. Who ever expects that such a juggernaut is only infernally loud, but is not not a bit precise, is taught better. Infernally loud of course, but in dry bass beats very accurate. The T3 don't need much stroke in everydaylife anyway, even if it's unbearable inside the car, the cone moves moderately. For super-fast top basses the T3 is perhaps not optimal, here one might consider to back him up with closed 10-inchers for the top.A high cut-off is ruled out anyway in such a woofer. But suitably adjusted the Rockford returns an incredible foundation, ultra deep, with almost never-ending power and even crunchy.

SummarySure, the T3S2-19 woofer is not for everyone. And not cheap either. But it's great thatRockford Fosgate nowadays still dares to build something really unreasonable.

The neodymium magnets in column shape connect the upper and lower pole. The two blackened coil windings are made of edgewise-wound ribbon wire

The Rockford T3 is an incredible bass monster whose dimensions overwhelm in reality. The bass box is 60 cm high.
