“Pastoral Care? I really don’t know

“As far as it depends on you, live at peace with all”. Paul encourages us in Romans 12:18. David in the Old Testament faced this test. He said in Psalms 120:7 “I am all for peace but when I speak, they are for war”.

In 1 Samuel 25, David almost killed Nabal who was a mean and ill-natured man that no one could speak peaceably with him. It was only through the intervention of Abigail, Nabal’s wife, that David’s anger was abated. If not, he would have avenged himself.

When you walk in accordance with God’s laws, He will vindicate you. Vindicate means to clear from an accusation, blame, to defend you, to justify for you, to speak and work for you and on your behalf.

If a man’s ways pleases the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. So on your side, as far as it depends on you, be at peace, make for peace, stretch out your hands for peace and reconciliation and the Lord will be your vindicator and defend you.

What if the other person continues to be angry with you? Leave him alone; you have done your part to be peaceful. Sleep well; if there is any lost sleep, it will be the other person’s, not yours.

May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Excerpts from “The Davidic Generation” by David Swan

1987 WAS A SPIRITUAL MILESTONE IN MY WALK WITH THE LORD. IT WAS A YEAR FILLED WITH DIVINE VISITATIONS AND OUTPOURINGS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT BOTH UPON MY LIFE AND UPON THE CHURCH MEMBERS.

During such periods of seeking the Lord, it was my habit of sleeping downstairs in the living room so as not to disturb the rest of the family when I was called to prayer at odd hours. On one such night, I was awakened by a strong presence of God in the living room. Then I heard an audible voice speaking into my right ear, “Tabernacle of David! Tabernacle of David!” It was a voice of great clarity and unusual authority. When He spoke, the voice penetrated and reverberated within my whole being. It was about 3.30 in the morning.

I knew that the Lord had given me the new name for the church. I knew it held the key to the ministry and destiny of the church. The Bible speaks of God restor-ing the Tabernacle of David in the last days (Acts 15:16). I believe that this also refers to the restoration of Davidic worship.

The Bible to

be divinely

inspired,

infallible,

authoritative Word of God

There is one God, eternally existent as God the Father,

God the Son and God the Holy Spirit

In the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His

sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning

death through the sacrifice of His blood, and His

bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand

of the Father, and in His personal return in power and

glory

In the present day ministry of the Holy Spirit including

signs and wonders, miracles and spiritual gifts

In the five-fold ministry gifts of the Apostle, the

Prophet, the Evangelist, the Pastor and the Teacher

In the resurrection of the dead, saved and unsaved.

The saved to the resurrection of life and the final

judgment between the righteous and unrighteous

In the Great Commission of the church to go into all

the world and make disciples of all nations

In the last days’ revival that will shake every nation

with the revival power of God and result in multitudes

being swept into the Kingdom of God
