acier avec un fini poli et meulé, généralement fait à partir d'un alliage C-1045. Les tolérances
dimensionnelles sont beaucoup plus précises que celles d'une barre LAF standard. Arbres
(shafts), pistons, etc.. Poids /pi plus élevé que les barres régulières;
barre haute résistance, finie à froid avec une limite élastique de 100 000 lbs./po . Les
traitements thermiques sont inutiles dans la majorité des cas. Soudure et durcissement par
induction sont possibles. Boulons, transmission, engrenages;
acier à haute teneur en carbone, produit avec des tolérances précises. Possibilité de
traitements thermiques et de refroidissement à l'eau possible.

Les spécifications
Groupe des plaques résistantes à l'abrasion
La norme la plus couramment utilisée en construction et fabrication en acier au Canada est le G40.21
44W. La norme ACNOR G40.21 comprend 8 types d'aciers. En voici un bref aperçu :
aciers pour la construction générale;
aciers soudable (le plus populaire);
aciers soudables pour utilisation à basse température;
aciers résistant à la corrosion atmosphérique
aciers soudables résistant à la corrosion atmosphérique;
aciers de charpente résistant à la corrosion et aux basses températures;
plaques en faible alliage d'acier, trempé et revenu/ weak steel alloy sheets, hardened and
tempered;
plaques en faible alliage d'acier, trempé et revenu avec résistance à l'entaille (V Charpy test);
Nous retrouvons aussi des normes américaines telle ASTM. Voici quelques grades couramment utilisés :

aciers au carbone pour récipient sous pression, résistance à la traction basse et intermédiaire ;
aciers pour charpente avec haute résistance à la corrosion, bonne soudabilité et capacité de

Nous retrouvons dans ce groupe des plaques dont les duretés varient de 300 à 500 Brinnel. Ces plaques
sont souvent vendues sous des marques maison des aciéries canadiennes ou étrangères. Les appellations
canadiennes les plus connues sont QT et AR pour Algoma et CHT pour Stelco.

Abrasion resistant plates
The most popular construction standard in Canada is G40.21 44W. The standard CSA G40.21
includes 8 types of steel. Here's a brief preview:
steel for general construction;
weldable steel (most popular);
weldable steel for low temperature application;
weldable steel resistant to atmospheric corrosion;
structural steel resistant to corrosion and suitable for low temperature applications;
structural steel resistant to corrosion and suitable for low temperature applications;
weak steel alloy sheets, hardened and tempered;
weak steel alloy sheets, hardened and tempere and returned with resistance to notches
(V Charpy test);
We also find American standard such as ASTM. Here are some grades often used:
weldabe steel for general fabrication with good forming properties;
carbon steel for pressure vessels, for low and intermediate tensile strenght;
tructural steel with high corrosion resistance, good weldability and forming capacity;
steel for general fabrication;
carbon steel for pressure vessels, for medium and high temperatures applications;
carbon steel for pressure vessels, resisting to low and medium temperatures applications.
We find in this group plate which hardness varies between 300 and 500 Brinnel. Those plates are
often sold under Canadian or foreign steel mills house brands. The Canadian names most often
used are QT and AR for Algoma and CHT for Stelco.
We can also find on the market commercial quality plate with no precise mechanical and chemical
properties (ex. : C33max, CQ, Excess, etc.).
