Other Information

Keio Single-Sign-On System (‘keio.jp’) “keio.jp” is an online system that offers various services to support courses. If the instructor informs the course that

“keio.jp” will be used, the system can be activated by using the “Academic Affairs Web System Password” given to you at the orientation.

Submission of assignments and Report Box End of semester assignments for most International Center Courses, PCP courses, and GPP courses can only be

submitted to the Report Box during the specified two-day period. The Report Box is located at the Office of Student Services on the B1F, South School Building, Mita Campus. You will need to fill out the yellow form with your name, student ID number, course name, instructor’s name, and staple it to your assignment. Assignments will be accepted between 8:45-16:45 over a two-day period (The schedule for submission will also be posted on the bulletin board.). Please be aware that assignments will not be accepted outside these times.

Academic Misconduct on examinations and assignments Students will be strictly penalized for any acts of academic dishonesty on examinations or in their written work.

Submitting a written assignment is like an examination or class test in that it is a way to determine a student’s academic ability. As such, any violation of the university’s rules for written assignments will result in a fail grade, and may have even further, more serious consequences.

When writing essays and reports take particular note of the following: 1. Be clear about which ideas are your own and which are not.2. Reference other people’s ideas.3. Quote sources accurately (include errors in the original text).4. Follow the rules for referencing.5. Include the URL and the date you accessed internet pages.

We would like to remind students that failing to adhere to these guidelines will be regarded as plagiarism and will be dealt with in the same way as cheating on an examination. We ask that you spend some time learning how to reference correctly by using sources such as referencing and citation guides.

Classes during times of emergency When the Japanese government or Japan Meteorological Agency issues a Tokai Earthquake Warning, or when public

transportation becomes unavailable due to natural disasters or large accidents, or at other times of emergency, classes will be as follows:

1. In the event of a Tokai Earthquake WarningAll classes will be canceled when a major earthquake is predicted in the Tokai area by the Japanese government or Japan Meteorological Agency. If the earthquake warning is canceled without there being an actual earthquake, please follow the instructions you receive from the university, which will be given via bulletin boards and the Keio University website.

2. In case of public transportation stoppage and other emergenciesIf classes have to be canceled when transportation services are not available due to a serious accident or natural disaster such as a typhoon, heavy rain, heavy snow, or earthquake, or at other times of emergency, please follow the instructions you receive from the university, which will be given via bulletin boards and the following Keio University website. URL: http://www.gakuji.keio.ac.jp/

Please note: If the situations described above occur after regular classes have started, special measures may be taken, such as the shortening of classes or early dismissal. Please follow the instructions you receive from the university, which will be given via bulletin boards, the university public address system, and the Keio University website.
