SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES

SAUDI NATIONAL DAY & GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATION

CHILDREN’S DAY

From time immemorial the Indian and Arab civilizations have constantly interacted through

ideas, cultures and people. As a mark of our allegiance towards our host country and home

country YIS celebrated the day with due respect. A special assembly with a variety of colourful

cultural programmes was organized by the students of the Kindergarten and Homeroom sections.

Various educative and entertaining activities were conducted to mark the day.

A day that revives celebrates and commits to our children and their future. YIS celebrated

childhood with a colorful cultural programme presented by the teachers with great passion and

excitement. Commencing with a play in the memory of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and his fondness for

children to a rhythmic blend of music, dance and drama- the event was marked by excitement,

splendor and a sense of youthful exuberance.

The showstoppers of the day were the staff from Burger King.

REPUBLIC DAY | VALEDICTORY FUNCTION

“A man’s country is not a certain area of land of mountains, rivers and woods, but it is a principle.

Patriotism is loyalty to that principle.” It is this idealism that stood as the foundation for us as we

celebrated the 68th Republic Day with great enthusiasm.

The national flag was hoisted by our zealous Principal Mrs. Aasima Saleem with great reverence

and patriotism and a pledge to uphold the honour and dignity of the nation. The girls of grades V-

VIII sang patriotic songs and set the mood for the day. The celebration was followed by the

valedictory function wherein the triumphant winners of different sport events under the senior

and junior categories were awarded with medals and certificates for their unprecedented hard

work and success in the field of sports.

Individual Champions: Ali Nehan Sameer (II-F) and Katija Tanisha (II-F) from the Homeroom

section.

The showstoppers of the day were the staff from Burger King. Their dance to the beats of remixed

hits and amazingly energetic dance moves made the day all the more special for the students. The

excitement and delight of the kids upon seeing the Burger King mascot was immeasurable.

An array of competitions was held to bring out the best out of the young and talented students.

English Poetry Recitation – Grade 4:- The English Poetry Recitation competition helped the students explore English in a new way. The

contest highlighted some of the most talented and hardworking students. Their performances

were all outstanding!

Spelling Bee Competition – Grade 1 & 2:- The young spellers of grades 1 and 2 enthusiastically participated in the Spelling Bee competition

held on the 4th and 11th of October 2016. It proved to be a productive activity which encouraged

the students to properly spell words, compete and speak in front of an audience.

connect with a variety of emotions and figures present in the poems.

Drawing and Coloring Competition -Grade 3 & 4:- Colours fascinate a child like nothing else. This is why we ensure that we give our kids the perfect

chance to show off their drawing and painting skills. Our students made full use of the opportunity

given to them, to create stunning master pieces.

SPORTS WEEK

CLASS ASSEMBLIES

Sports form an integral part of the YIS curriculum. It offers children a change from the monotony

of their daily life. It is also a useful means of entertainment and physical activity for them.

A sound mind dwells in a sound body. To develop a healthy body, various games and sport events

like Building a Pyramid, Blowing cups, Collecting balls, Hurdle race, Lemon and spoon race etc.

were conducted. In track and field events students have been very agile at long jump, throw ball,

followed by ‘relay race’ and flat races.

Class assemblies form an important part of the school day and aid in the formation of vital links

within the school community. They help in training the students to behave well, to respect and

appreciate the efforts of others. The class assemblies at Yara International School provide a

training platform for both teachers and students to share new ideas about cultures, festivals and

current affairs.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE

STAFF PICNIC & EXCELLENCE AWARDS

The rapport between a parent and a teacher has been researched

for many years. These studies have concluded that when a parent

is actively involved in their child’s education, it benefits all

involved in one way or another.

Realizing this to the core, Parent Teacher Meetings were

conducted to successfully overcome the challenges and obstacles

faced by the students.

ACHIEVEMENTS

National Science Talent Search Examination-NSTSE:-

The dexterous students at YIS have continued to excel and have bagged medals for their

outstanding performance in NSTSE this year. The National Level Science Talent Search

Examination (NSTSE) is a diagnostic test that measures the concept understanding ability of a

student and provides a detailed feedback on the same to help them improve. Our young and

dynamic children have continued to uphold the pride of the institution and brought laurels to the

school.

Kudos to the winners!

This academic year at YIS was a memorable and enjoyable one

as ‘learning and fun’ had equal share. To get away from the

routine, a staff picnic was organized which proved to be a

time for relaxation and enjoyment.

This day was also coupled with the felicitation of the Loyalty

and Excellence awardees. A teacher who inspires the ‘young

minds’ to rise and progress is a notable accomplishment. It is

this noble duty of teachers that stands apart. In due recognition of their unprecedented hard

work, the management at YIS honoured its staff who have successfully completed 10 years of

service. Teachers who have rendered selfless service were awarded with excellence awards for

being competent and excellent performers. The decadians and excellence award recipients were

presented with mementos by the management committee members and our beloved principal

Mrs. Aasima Saleem.

“TRIUMPHANT WINNERS”

In loving memory of …………

Some people make their quiet presence loud by the dedicated and sincere

service they render to the institution they serve. One such employee was Mrs.

Shaik Juweria our store keeper. A dedicated, efficient and meticulous

personality who had the quality of commitment, will power, untiring

enthusiasm and organization skills. Her earnestness and determination will

forever be cherished.

An extremely dedicated Homeroom teacher who made a special bond with

everyone she met. She was talented in all facets of life and set an example for

everyone to keep a positive attitude towards life. She was very popular among

her students and colleagues and has left a void which can never be filled.

CONCLUSION

The year 2016-17 can aptly be defined as a lush journey brimming with imagination, creativity

and talent sumptuously flanked by knowledge. This academic year has been momentous, as our

students have won laurels at interschool levels both in academics and co-curricular activities.

Children have simple dreams and innocent fantasies. Curiosity and endowment hastens dreams

to take a flight into creativity. All our students were handled with great care and by the end of

the year they are well groomed and almost chiseled to perfection, all ready to take their next step

in life.

We anticipate that this communication tool will assist your understanding of the

overall happenings in the school. We look forward to new challenges for yet another very

successful and prosperous year ahead.
