Chris BAtesChris bates is a fort Collins native who has worked as a professional artist for the past 8 years and has completed over 30 interior and

exterior murals in northern Colorado. his various art work “overwhelms and moves the eye with a barrage of symbols and illustrations” and is designed to engage people in the “visual conversation that art creates.” Chris stays active in the community by teaching mural workshops to grade school students, working at a local gallery, and participating on

various nonprofit boards. He feels strongly that good communication, collaboration, and accountability have led to his success as an artist, and he aims to share his passion and skills with others.

personas creativas de la comunidad• descubrir los orígenes únicos, las imágenes y las

historias del día de los muertos• diseñar, construir y operar marionetas de

calaveras gigante• aprender sobre la actuación callejera,

movimiento escénico y vestuario• Producir un desfile comunitario y una procesión

de títeres gigantes para principios de noviembre

There are the brightly decorated sugar skulls (calaveritas de azucar) and the dancing calaveras puppet procession. but the mexican celebration of día de los muertos is much more than these two prominent symbols. This year’s imaginanTes summer Workshop features día de los muertos, the day of the dead, as the backdrop to explore storytelling and the connection of the past, present, and future. it’s a hands-on cultural and artistic journey that can’t be missed!in imAGinAntes you will…• hang out with friends, artists, & other creatives • discover the unique origins, imagery, & stories of

día de los muertos• design, build, & operate giant

calaveras puppets • learn about street performance,

movement and costumes• produce a community parade & puppet

procession for early november• get transported to an imaginary mexico

through “luzia,” a show presented by Cirque du soleil in denver
