Luckily it was only the tail end, the part that serves as the "cocked" indicator, so the gun still fired just fine. This is a vulnerable area, as it is so narrow, and the firing-pin is made of a brittle cast-iron. In my opinion, it would be far better to keep this tail area the same diameter as the rest of the pin, and forget about that plastic sleeve. Sure, it is a nice little frill to have that red indicator show that the firing-pin is cocked, but it is totally unnecessary that it be a plastic cap. Why not leave it the natural metal color, or paint the end red? Either would serve just as well, and it would be much less venerable to breakage. Anyway, and quick call to the factory parts line, and a new one arrived free of charge in just a few days. You can't beat that kind of service. Magazine Blues [click for larger image] In the circled area in the picture above, if you look closely, you will see several bumps in the magazine face. These are manufacturing errors, and we think it came about from the small round punch-outs that you see on the sides getting caught in the machinery. These small bumps greatly interfered with magazine insertion and especially extraction. I took the easy way out, and added this to my call to the factory about the firing-pin, and they gladly sent out 2 new magazines free of charge as well. Like I say, you just can't beat service like that! Search the Web Taming the Jimenez JA-380: Miscellaneous Items http://concealed-carry.5u.com/misc.html 1 of 2 3/3/2015 9:24 PM
