Ten In The Bed Lyrics and Actions
♫ Here we go!
There were ten in the bed [Hold up 10 fingers.]
and the little one said, [Hold your hands close together, indicating 'small.']
"Roll over, roll over" [Roll hands around each other, or each student turns to the right and says, "Roll over! Roll over!"]
So they all rolled over and one fell out. [Everyone rolls to the right and the student in the first chair 'falls out' of the bed.]
Nine! [Hold up 10 fingers and then take one away, leaving 9.]
There were nine in the bed [Hold up 9 fingers.]
and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over"
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
Eight! [Hold up 9 fingers and then take one away, leaving 8.]
There were eight in the bed [Hold up 8 fingers.]
and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over"
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
Seven! [Hold up 8 fingers and then take one away, leaving 7.]
There were seven in the bed [Hold up 7 fingers.]
and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over"
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
Six! [Hold up 7 fingers and then take one away, leaving 6.]
There were six in the bed [Hold up 6 fingers.]
and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over"
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
Five! [Hold up 6 fingers and then take one away, leaving 5.]
There were five in the bed [Hold up 5 fingers.]
and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over"
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
Four! [Hold up 5 fingers and then take one away, leaving 4.]
There were four in the bed [Hold up 4 fingers.]
and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over"
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
JOEY PROGRAM TERM 2 2014
Three! [Hold up 4 fingers and then take one away, leaving 3.]
There were three in the bed [Hold up 3 fingers.]

Two! [Hold up 3 fingers and then take one away, leaving 2.]
There were two in the bed [Hold up 2 fingers.]

There was one in the bed [Hold up 1 finger.]
and the little one said,

Game: Musical chairs Set up chairs in a circle with mums sitting on the chairs. The Joeys stand on the outside of the circle behind the chair their mum is sitting on. The mums stay seated, music is played and the Joeys walk around the outside of the circle. When the music stops, they must find their mum and sit on her lap. Continue to play the game but leave all chairs in place so no-one is out or misses a turn.
Washing line relay At one end of the hall, tie a rope across (as a clothesline). Divide the Joeys and mums into two teams. Put a washing basket with towels in it in the middle of the hall. Two thirds of the way to the line put a peg bucket. On the word Go, one player from each team runs and collects a towel and two pegs and hang the towel on the clothesline, then runs back to the end of their team. They finish when everyone has had a turn or all the towels are hanging up. 15
Set the table (relay) Divide the Joeys and mums into two teams at one end of the hall. At the opposite end place two tables. At regular intervals for the length of the hall, place a plate, knife, fork and spoon. On the word Go players run and collect one of every item and "set" the table at the opposite end of the hall, then return to end of their line.
Pamper mum Mums sit on a chair and each Joey gives mum a hand massage.

It stands on its tracks; a gleaming sealed carriage, every bit is royal. The air-conditioning works silently, creating a space where only the excitement of the history of the Rajput kingdoms permeates through, clearly captured in a contemporary mode. In all, there are fourteen saloons, each equipped with two twin-bedded and two double-bedded chambers, with attached baths that have running hot and cold water and showers. The modern conveniences have been thoughtfully provided, sofas to sink into, strategically placed lights to read by, wonderfully appointed beds with comfortable furnishings, inbuilt wardrobes for the storage of one’s clothes and bags, and huge plate glass windows to watch the countryside roll past.
Outside the bedrooms, each coach also has a seating lounge where passengers can get together, just sit watch the cities as they glide past outside the windows, or enjoy a quiet cup of tea. An attached pantry with each saloon helps provide beverages and refreshments to the accompaniment of soothing piped music.
There is the comfortable bar cum lounge where you can relax over your favourite drink, burrow in a book or converse with fellow passengers. Attached to it are two restaurant cars, Maharaja and Maharani respectively, with opulently draped curtains, exquisitely crafted lights and table settings . Here accompanying chefs serve up a delicious choice of Indian, including Rajasthani, Continental and even Chinese cuisine that are a feast for the palate.
The train chugs out of Safdarjung Railway Station New Delhi cantonment on a week-long run through Rajasthan every Wednesday night, with a trip also inbuilt to Agra and the Taj Mahal. Turban-wearing attendants take over from the moment you arrive at the platform, assigning you your coupes and detailing all the facilities that are on board. The train moves by night and arrives each morning at a new destination where new experiences await you.

The end of the Orient Express: 12 December 2009...
On 12 December 2009, EuroNight train number 469 'Orient Express' left Strasbourg on its final overnight run
to Vienna, and on 13 December the celebrated name 'Orient Express' disappeared forever from the official
European timetables after 126 years. True, the Orient Express may have been the ultimate example of a knife
that's had its blade and its handle replaced many times, but this train was indeed the true descendant of that
first 1883 'Express d'Orient' and it officially carried the name 'Orient Express'. You can trace its evolution
from timetable to timetable, year to year from 1883 to 2009. On its last run, the Orient Express had evolved
into an Austrian Railways (ÖBB) EuroNight train, with one Austrian Railways air-conditioned sleeping-car (1 &
2 bed compartments, including two deluxe compartments with toilet and shower), two modern air-
conditioned couchette cars with 4 & 6 berth compartments, and an Austrian seats car. The Orient Express
was cut back to start in Strasbourg rather than Paris in June 2007 when the Paris-Strasbourg high-speed TGV
line opened, so that it could no longer be attached to a French domestic train between Paris & Strasbourg.
Although a TGV connection from Paris was provided, the writing was on the wall for this train when it stopped
directly linking the French and Austrian capitals. It had lost its Paris-Budapest Hungarian couchette car and

the 1960s.

until the first Joey reaches the counter and touches the wall they then do the counting.
Game: Ac Kapiyn Bezirgan Basi Istanbul
Open the Door, Head Merchant
Two of the children hold their hands together like a bridge, and the others go under in single file. During the game they
sing this song.
- Open the gate, head merchant.
- I’ll open it, but what will you give me?
- Take the scoundrel behind me.
- One rat, Two rats, three rats.
Whoever is under the bridge when they come to the end of the rhyme is caught by the children making the bridge.

Game: Four Corners
To begin, four corners (or general areas) of the room are marked from the numbers one to four. One player is designated
to be "It," or the "counter." This player sits in the middle of the room and closes his or her eyes, or exits the room, and
counts to ten. The remaining players choose any one of the corners and quietly go and stand in that area. When the "It"
player has finished counting, she calls out one of the numbers. All players who had chosen that corner or area are out of
the game, and they sit down. Then, "It" counts again and the remaining players move to a different corner. Unless the
corner is out.
The last person to still be in the game wins, and usually becomes the new "It."
If "It" calls out a corner containing no players, she either calls out another number right away or the players rotate to a
new corner, according to different versions of gameplay.

Canada Day Pinwheel Craft
Contributed by Leanne Guenther
I loved pinwheels when I was little... They seem to be one of those toys that have been around forever. There are two different templates to pick from.
You can use the templates I've provided or design your own using:
construction paper and stickers
fun foam, or
thin pieces of plastic (like one would use for overhead projectors)
Fun foam ones are nice and sturdy, but you'll need to use straight pins instead of push pins to make them.
JOEY PROGRAM TERM 2 2014
Materials:
paper,
printer,
something to color with,
pencil with eraser at the end (unsharpened is best, I think)
push pin or straight pin
Optional: a small bead (like a pony bead)
Optional: red or white acrylic paint and paintbrush
Instructions:
Print out the template.
Color the template, if using the B&W option and cut it out.
Optional: Paint the pencil white or red using the acrylic paint because it dries quickly. You will need to give it a couple of coats to cover.
Fold on the dashed line to make a square decorated on both sides.
Note: At this point, you can put a piece of thin cardboard or construction paper between the two halves to make your pinwheel a bit sturdier.
glue the sides so you have a square decorated on both sides.
Cut on the diagonal dotted lines (don't cut all the way into the middle.
Bend each corner to the center dot, but don’t crease your folds.
Push a pin through the center into the eraser of a pencil (don't push it super tight).
Optional: put a bead in between the eraser and the paper ... some people find it spins a bit better this way... I've never noticed the difference (maybe it's the type of
JOEY PROGRAM TERM 2 2014
pencil eraser? I use fresh, unsharpened school pencils).
blow the edge of your pinwheel to make it spin (if it doesn't spin, loosen your pin a little or wiggle it around to make the hole in the paper bigger).

JOEY PROGRAM TERM 2 2014
The Rocky Mountaineer runs on 3 different routes. Independent travellers can buy one-way or return tickets
in either direction between Vancouver & Banff, Calgary or Jasper.
First Passage to the West, Vancouver- Banff & Calgary:
Formerly and more accurately called the Kicking Horse
route after the mountain pass it takes through the
Rockies, this is perhaps the most scenic & certainly the
most historically-significant route to choose, as it travels
over t he famous Canadian Pacific Railway, Canada's first
trans-continental line opened in 1885. It's the original
'Rocky Mountaineer' route on which the company first
started in 1990, when the last regular passenger trains on
the line were discontinued. You'll pass Castle Mountain,
the pretty station at Lake Louise, the continental divide,
the much-photographed Stoney Creek bridge, the site of
the 1885 'Last Spike' and the wonderfully-scenic
Thompson & Fraser river canyons. You're likely to see
bald eagles, ospreys, and maybe even bears. It departs 3
times a week from mid-April to mid-October, and the
journey takes 2 full days with 1 overnight hotel stop
included in the fare. Kicking Horse route timetable &
fares How to buy tickets What's the train like? What's
the journey like?
Journey to the Clouds, Vancouver-Jasper: Formerly and
more accurately called the Yellowhead route after the
mountain pass taken through the Rockies, this route takes you over the second and later of the two
Canadian trans-continental railways, the Canadian Northern line opened in 1917, nationalised as
Canadian National in 1921. It's the same route as that taken by VIA Rail's Toronto-Jasper-Vancouver
'Canadian'. Between Vancouver & Kamloops, the Rocky Mountaineer Yellowhead & Kicking Horse
routes are the same (in fact, the two trains run coupled together). Also note that this route and the
Rainforest to Goldrush route share the section of line past Mount Robson and through the Yellowhead
Pass. So if you want to make a circular tour, the best combination is probably the Kicking Horse route
Vancouver-Banff, then by bus between Jasper and Banff via the Columbia Icefields, then the Rainforest
to Goldrush route from Jasper back to Vancouver. The Rocky Mountaineer Yellowhead trains run twice
a week from mid-April to mid-October, the journey takes 2 full days with 1 overnight hotel stop
included in the fare. Yellowhead route timetable & fares How to buy tickets What's the train
like? What's the journey like?
Rainforest to Goldrush route, Whistler-Quesnel-Jasper: Formerly marketed as the Fraser Discover
route, this route is all about getting off the beaten track into gold-rush and timber country, rather
than taking a famous trans-continental rail line. It takes you along the mighty Fraser River over the
Pacific Great Eastern Railway (PGE), started in 1885 and only fully completed in 1952 - no wonder it
was nicknamed the Prince George Eventually! The scenery is wonderful, especially the Fraser River
Pyramid Falls, seen from the

canyon, and you may see bald eagles, ospreys and possibly bears. It runs roughly once a week from
mid-April to mid-October, and the journey takes 2 full days with 1 overnight hotel stop included in the
fare. Most passengers travel from Vancouver to Whistler a day or two beforehand on the Whistler
Mountaineer. Rainforest to Goldrush route timetable & fares How to buy tickets What's the train

Whistler Sea to Sky, Vancouver to Whistler (formerly the Whistler Mountaineer): As well as the three
Rocky Mountaineer routes, the same company runs a daily 74-mile, 3-hour scenic train service linking
Vancouver (North Vancouver, across the Lion's Gate Bridge) with the resort town of Whistler. Whistler
