Businesses are always changing to stay one step ahead of the competition. There is a constant shift in the volume of locations due to openings, closings and moves. Lack of accurate inventory could potentially lead to an accidental shut-down of a mission-critical service or paying for a service at a location that has been closed. Equally important is the ability to associate an inventory item with a business unit or division so that it can be allocated to the correct cost center for integrity within the budgeting and financial reporting systems. The lack of integration between inventory and billing information made it impossible to reconcile active services for each location. The provisioning tool was not easy to use, and it didn’t flow directly to where the TEM system was processing the invoices. In addition, the lack of visibility of all telecom services at each store’s location caused potential for duplicate billing, disconnected service still billing and inaccurate rates. Tangoe was brought in to help the customer address these challenges and ultimately help them achieve their goal of driving down expenses. As an ongoing project, Tangoe’s implementation is helping ease the transition for the customer as it migrates MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) service/circuits over to a SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) platform for savings opportunities. Lack of accurate inventory could potentially lead to an accidental shut-down of a mission-critical service or paying for a service at a location that has been closed. Equally important is the ability to associate an inventory item with a business unit or division so that it can be allocated to the correct cost center for integrity within the budgeting and financial reporting systems.

Tangoe’s Bill Pay solution was an added benefit to further complement the software application. It enables a single transaction to pay all telecom invoices at the right time, to the right places and in the right amount to improve cash flow management, eliminate late payment costs and cease service interruptions. Tangoe also guarantees no late fees. The customer is now positioned to save money through visibility of reports based on location, as well as save money by eliminating late invoice fees.

This implementation identified immediate savings opportunities when it went live by locating inventory inaccuracies. The customer’s telecom team instantly noticed that certain services needed to be disconnected because the physical locations were closed. The customer benefitted from major savings right away. In fact, the initial audit saved the company more than $105,000 in the first three months.

In this time period alone, the Invoice Management software gathered, processed, validated, and paid approximately 3,000 monthly invoices across 121 unique carriers. Approximately 200,000 in-service inventory items were managed.
