The clamping conveyor is the latest product from M. Tanner AG for integration into the preform

inspection and cleaning system directly upstream of the PET stretch blow machine.

Summary of benefits to you

Preform feed close to the floor

Overhead preform guidance (separation of relatively large foreign bodies, such as swarf, PET

fragments, etc.)

Low height (under 4 metres), compact setup

Overhead rinser* (separation of foreign particles ‐> impressive test results)

Camera inspection* (check for out‐of‐roundness, damage to opening, supporting ring)

UVC irradiation* * optional

PerformanceTest result September 2011, 20 days / 24 hours: 99.5 % efficiency

Foreign particles in your preforms?

The unique overhead rinser cleans right into the PET

stretch blow moulding machine.

The clamping conveyor is an attractive proposition

because of its overhead preform guidance arrangement.

Overhead guidance makes preform cleaning

considerably easier and more efficient.

How are the preforms cleaned?

During the overhead guidance phase, the preforms are

blown out with ionised air and foreign particles are

removed by suction. The test results are impressive. We

are pleased to be able to show you the evaluation of our

tests performed with different types of contaminant.

Are the preforms of high quality?

With the camera inspection, quality is checked right

through the PET stretch blow machine.

The integrated camera inspection component makes it

possible to check preforms for out‐of‐roundness and

damage to openings. In addition, the inspection can also

include a check for damage to the supporting ring.

How are defective preforms segregated?

Thanks to automatic ejection, the defective preforms are

separated out without the need for any interruption to

the preform feeding process. The tolerances for the

camera inspection can be customised and saved using

the touch panel.

Germs? Germs destroyed by UVC irradiation

As an option, the KBT clamping conveyor can be equipped

with a UVC preform irradiation component in the roller

conveyor (row sorting), upstream of the transition to the

discharge rail.

TANNER preform feeding systems for PET stretch blow machines or PET

preform test systems.

1985: 500 preforms/hour – 2011: 80,000 preforms/hour

More than 20 years ago, Tanner designed and manufactured PET preform

feeding systems for PET blow moulding machines. The first systems were

developed for an output of 500 preforms per hour. From this year, the

Tanner preform feeding system VZT‐6172 can feed over 80,000 preforms to

the PET stretch blow machine per hour.

25 years’ experience, over 2000 systems in use

Since the 1st Tanner preform feeding system was delivered in 1985, more

than 2000 systems in every output class have been brought into service

worldwide. In addition, preform tippers and components for UVC

irradiation and preform cleaning have also been included in the product

range.

Tanner systems for the preform test system

As well as being suppliers to the PET bottle manufacturing market, Tanner

also supplies feeding systems for PET preform test systems. Whether offline

(with a Tanner tipper) or inline, directly from the preform injection

moulding machine, Tanner supplies the relevant concept that is tailored to

the customer’s requirements. From October 2011, IMD Ltd.

(www.imdvista.ch) is the official partner of Tanner in the field of camera

preform testing.

The challenge of preform handling and cleaning

Thanks to many years of experience, Tanner has succeeded in meeting the

ever greater challenges it faces (with regard to output, efficiency, changes

to the preform, climatic conditions, preform cleaning and inspection). In the

field of preform cleaning and inspection, the clamping conveyor (patent

pending) is unique in the world.
