Who would be interested in an Indie/rock magazine?

• Male and female 14-25 year olds as these people can often connect with the lyrics and the songs range from being upbeat to being soft which can vary the mood connecting with the target audience.

• Indie/rock magazines are often also aimed at this age group as most of them give information about upcoming gigs and about the artists which would interest this age group as they often may have free time and will enjoy going to gigs as they are mainly youths.

• Coldplay are a British band formed in 1996. They achieved worldwide fame in 2000 when they released there single ‘yellow’ they have won several awards including best British group at the brit awards 3 times. The band has 4 members and 1 unofficial member and has toured around the world.

• The Foo Fighters are an American rock band who’s main singer is Nirvana's drummer David Grohl. This band was formed in Seattle in 1994. according to 2015 sales so far their 8 albums have sold 12 million copies in the US alone. They recently have been on tour where David Grohl broke his leg during one of his performances, despite this he carried on performing and after a couple weeks of rest carried on the tour renaming it as ‘the broken leg tour’ where he performed at Milton Keynes bowl and other places.

• “My favorite genre of music is indie/rock this is because there are many different songs that sounds different even though they fall under the same genre of indie/rock. I like many of the artists such as coldplay, the kooks and the razor light but i always like to learn and find out about new indie bands as the music and culture interests me. If i brought an indie/rock magazine i would be interested about reading about new music releases, gigs and tours and interviews.

• “I love rock music as it can be very upbeat and the atmosphere it creates at concerts is amazing. I like rock music because the lyrics are actually meaningful and usually tell a story so its easy to find songs that relate to my situations. I buy rock and indie magazines quite often as I like to keep up to date and discover new music all the time. I also love attending gigs whenever I can and I can get information on that in magazines”

What does my audience profile tell me?

• From my audience profile I have learnt that many rock/indie band's have older members in them for example the foo fighters are quite old ( around 40yrs) this suggests young people look up to there music and are influenced by the bands personal experience as they have been through a lot, this also shows how my target audience may be likely to buy a magazine featuring older bands like the foo fighters and Coldplay so I could include that in my magazine.

• Many of the artists are bands and many of the groups are male, this means males can relate to the lyrics as they are from males point of views, however females can also relate as most of the lyrics apply to both genders which is why rock/indie has such a wide fan base.

• I now am aware that both males and females can enjoy indie/rock music and I can aim the magazine at both genders.
