AudienceView ‘How To’ Guides “Create a Profile Snapshot”

What is a Profile Snapshot?

A Profile Snapshot is a report that delivers key consumer characteristics information about your segment

in a preformatted and visually appealing format. It includes the projected number of Unique Users in the

segment and their main sociodemographic attributes.

This functionality is divided into the following parts:

Summary

Age

Gender

Employment

State/Territory

Mosaic Group

Financial Position

Channel Preference

What are the benefits of using the Profile Snapshot?

Running Snapshot Reports take the hard work out of building a detailed customer profile by providing

some of the most important profile attributes in an easy-to-read, graphical report of cards. The projected

number of Unique Users in the segment and the percentage of your base represent an unparalleled ability

to quantify your audience and the size of new niches in the market.

How to run a Profile Snapshot

Once in AudienceView, you can navigate to the ‘Profile Snapshot’ page either by:

Selecting the ‘Create’ > ‘Profile Snapshot’ option from the top menu;

Page 2: AudienceView How To Guides a Profile Snapshot”connexity.com/.../2016/...Profile-Snapshot-Report.pdf · Target Audience = ‘visitors to Netflix,’ Base Audience = ‘visitors to

Selecting the ‘Profile Snapshot’ quick link icon in the middle of the homepage

Selecting a segment and clicking on ‘Run Report’ from the homepage (in this case you can skip

the Target vs. Base audience section).

Definition of Target Audience and Base Audience

There are two types of audiences you can select on your Profile Snapshots.

Target Audience: Represents the segment from which you want to know their profile.

Base Audience: Represents the segment to which you want to base your Target Audience on.

The Online Population is the Base Audience by default.

Selecting the Target Audience

To select your Target Audience, click on the drop-down menu indicated in the screen below before

generating your report.

If necessary, you may also change the following parameters:

Change your ‘Base Audience’ (see Base Audience section below)

Change your ‘Target Dates’ (see Target Dates section below)

When and how to change the Base Audience

The Online Population is the default Base Audience on a Profile Snapshot report. In most cases, keeping

the Online Population as your Base Audience will provide the necessary information. However, for some

specific cases you may want to consider using a different segment as your Base Audience; such as

Exclude Certain Users: Used to exclude certain users from your target audience e.g. Segment =

‘visitors to Netflix’. To look at males only that have visited Netflix, select Base Audience = ‘Males’

Quantify Overlap Audience: Used to quantify the overlap audience between two different sites e.g.

Target Audience = ‘visitors to Netflix,’ Base Audience = ‘visitors to Stan’. Projected number of Unique

Users for your target audience will represent users who visited both sites – the ‘overlap audience’.

Also, this will allow you to compare the profile of users who visited both sites to the overall profile of users

who visited Stan (i.e. your base)

To change your Base Audience, click on the drop-down menu indicated in the screen below before

generating your report.

Changing the time period of your Profile Snapshots

Defaulted to the most recent 4 weeks of data in system

Changing the time period will produce different projected numbers of users

Changing the time period will result in a different profile breakdown

To change the reporting period:

Click on the drop down arrow next to the ‘Reporting Period Begins’ menu

Select the date of your beginning week (e.g. week ending on Sat 21 Aug 2016)

Select the Saturday of your end week (e.g. week ending on Sat 15 Oct 2016)

The number of weeks being reported on will populate in a written format on the right

Generating a Profile Snapshot

After selecting your Target Audience (and potentially changing your Base Audience and/or your Dates),

click on the ‘Generate’ button on the top ribbon to run your Profile Snapshot report.

Reading the ‘Summary’ card

Access the Summary card at the top of the report, or by clicking the ‘Summary’ icon in the top left of the

screen. It includes the following information:

Reporting Period: No. of weeks included

o Ending On: Last day included in report

Base Audience: Segment name

o Projected: Projected no. of Unique Users in that segment during the selected period.

Target Audience: Segment name

o Projected: Projected no. of Unique Users in that segment that overlaps with the Base Audience

during the selected period

o Percentage: The no. of Unique Users in the Target Audience represented out of the total number

of Unique Users in the Base Audience.

Reading the demographics cards

To change your chart to a different metric (e.g. projected), click on the ‘Graph by’ button on the top right

of the card and select one of the options available (as indicated in the screen below).
