Teenage boys are likely to fill a large proportion of my target audience, this is because they are stereotypically more likely to seek thrill and their mannerism are generally more violent and aggressive. Violence and fear are both conventions of thriller films therefore boys would prefer to watch this than something with a deeper more emotional narrative. It is part of a man persona to look unphased and brave and therefore by watching thriller films they will be able to portray both of these characteristics. From my own research boys prefer the hybrid action when watching thriller films, this is because they involve a lot of violence and weapons of which boys are clearly more attracted to, hence why a great amount of them they play video games and enjoy sports such as boxing. They may watch a thriller film and aspire to hold character tics similar to the antagonist or the protagonist , they may even try and replicate actions or sayings from the movie. It is clear from Matt Whitmore's character profile that he will be part of my target demographic, firstly his favourite film is Taken, this is an action thriller, therefore he is likely to enjoy other films and hybrids from the thriller genre. The fact that he is interested in WWE shows that he is amused by violence and there is usually a lot of this in thriller films, he also like video games which supports this idea. From this information I can assure to use aspects of aggression and rampage in my trailer in order to satisfy younger males.

Many would argue that girls are not stereotypically drawn to scary films, this is because they are seen to be more susceptible to film and therefore are not likely to find satisfaction in watching them. Despite this research has concluded that women do enjoy thriller films, this is because they entail deeper meaning where a female audience can depict alternative interpretations. They may not be as ‘thrilled’ by the masses of gore and violence that you may see in the hybrids, horror and action thrillers, however the survey I distributed showed that psychological thrillers are watched more by females than males. This is because psychological thrillers have a lot of substance and play with our mind and emotions, females are stereotypically more analytical and emotional so hence why this appeals to them more. From her character profile it is evident that Alana Thomas would be part of my target audience this is not only due to her age, as teenagers are naturally more experimental with films as they are in the key stages of developing themselves and trying out new thing to experiment with emotions and feeling, therefore they are less discouraged by the violence and inappropriate scenes in a thriller. Alana chose ‘Naive Campbell’ as a person she is inspired by, Neave Campbell is one of the most famous thriller/horror actresses of the 21 st century, she features in legendary films such as Scream, this suggests that she is a fan of thriller films and may watch them as she admires the characters personas. Scream is exstremely graphic, this shows she is not phased by lots of blood and violence and clearly has quite a high tolerance level to thriller films. The fact that one of her interests is theme parks depicts that she craves and thrill and is definitely very brave. therefore suggesting thriller films are perfect for her as they are likely to satisfy her needs and entice her.

Older males are commonly interested in thriller films as they may have grown out of the stage of just taking the film at face value and they are more likely to delve into the narrative and engage more with the multiple meanings a film can express. Korron Nelson is clearly part of my target demographic on many levels. Firstly the person who he is inspired by is Leonardo Dicaprio, he features in many thriller films such as inception and shutter island, these aren't your typical thriller films they are more psychological and therefore appeal more to the older audiences as they will gain the most out of them, due to there advanced understanding. This shows that Korron doesn’t only like the thrill of a thriller film though the meaning behind it, therefore it is important for me not to just focus of the fear factor, but also it is crucial for me to leave the audience asking question and feeling confused. Another factor which suggests that Korron would be interested in my movie is that his interests include ‘going to the shooting range’ and ‘sky diving’ this characterises him as a risky person who thrives of danger therefore he will appreciate the thrill incorporated in my movie as it will keep him on the edge of his seat.’ Finally he mentions that he likes ‘movie nights with his wife’ when a couple watch a movie together research has shown that they tend to go for more scary films, this is because it inflicts a feeling of scarce for the woman, where the male has no choice but to comfort her, resulting in them fulfilling their gender roles and therefore making them build a greater attachment.

Typically the older generations are not usually incorporated into the target audience of a thriller films. This is because they stereotypically prefer a lighter more uplifting storyline as only in recent years have thriller films have become extremely more graphic and explicit. Due to the advances in technology, special effects and theatrical makeup, there is now a huge amount of realism in the genre, this may cause the older generation to feel uncomfortable or even offended as thriller films of their day were a lot less explicit. Alternatively there age may prevent them from taking thriller films seriously as they are older and wiser to know that the event could never happen, therefore they are unlikely to enjoy the film and see it as ridiculous. Despite this Mary would definitely classify as part of my target audience, this is because it is evident that she is in touch with her spiritual side, meaning that she is open to new interpretations of things and will not necessarily take things on face value. Her activities include witch craft, this highlights a slightly sinister side to her as the history of it is very dark, involving mass executions and torture, although this may not be true nowadays, it shows that her interests are diverse and that which suit the genre.. Another interest is ghost hunting, ghosts and spirits are constantly used in thriller films to inflict fear, the fact that she is already absorbed in it shows that thriller films are perfectly suited to her. This research has helped me conclude that spiritual elements may be quite effective in my trailer, this is because it evokes more fear as there is still the question as to if they exist and the fear of the unknown.
