INTRODUCTION
TARGETED EPIGENETIC THERAPIES: THE NEXT
FRONTIER? (JANUARY 2014)
NEW #1
TARGETED EPIGENETIC THERAPIES: THE NEXT FRONTIER? (JANUARY 2014)
Epigenetic therapies
•Clinical success•Improve patient outcomes
Epigenome•System that alters the structure of DNA•Regulating gene activity without changing
the nucleotide sequence.
Epigenetic effectors
•Enzymes EZH2 and UTX•Regulate multiple transcription factors
TARGETED EPIGENETIC THERAPIES: THE NEXT FRONTIER? (JANUARY 2014)
Epigenetic
Progression and tumor formation
Therapies targeted at specific epigenetic regulators
TARGETED EPIGENETIC THERAPIES: THE NEXT FRONTIER? (JANUARY 2014)
Gen ARID1A
Epigenetic regulatory
Associated with approximately
half of the ovarian clear-cell cancers
tested
Tumor suppressor
I think today is very necessary implement epigenetics, due to
large number of abnormalities
discovered and the variety of cancers
where this technique may be useful for
better approaches, diagnoses and
therapies.

ADN TECHNOLOGY AND EVOLUTION OF THE CENTRAL DOGMA (JANUARY 2014)
NEW #2
ADN TECHNOLOGY AND EVOLUTION OF THE CENTRAL DOGMA (JANUARY 2014)
Central Dogma
• Artificial evolution
DNA sequences captured digitally
• Reconstruction of genomic
In silico models
• Predict and influence the phenotype
ADN TECHNOLOGY AND EVOLUTION OF THE CENTRAL DOGMA (JANUARY 2014)
Extension of the Central
Dogma
Reintroduction of megafauna
Synthetic biology
Release of extinct pathogens
Biodiversity preservation
ADN TECHNOLOGY AND EVOLUTION OF THE CENTRAL DOGMA (JANUARY 2014)
Evolution of the Central
Dogma
Recording and storage of
DNA sequence data obtained by sequencing
Use of information for de
novo chemical synthesis of DNA
Expression of synthetic DNA
through to RNA transcription and
protein translation
Replication and dissemination of data by file sharing across
the internet
I think these scientific advances are very important for the evolution of molecular biology if
used with therapeutic actions, because they facilitate access to information and help control
many diseases and abnormalities presented during development.
PERSONAL OBSERATION
MEDICAL UTILITY
Allow quick access at any time and place at libraries genes, obtaining detailed information on mutations,
expression and development of genes, looking for
improvement and reconstruction of the
genome
MEDICAL UTILITY
Apply the epigenetic in order to prevent the expression of more than one gene at time,
through manipulation of chromosomes and the transcription machinery, thereby reducing mutations, diseases and clinical morbidity.
MEDICAL UTILITY
Facilitate the creation of synthetic genetic material for the correction and
construction of new biochemical pathways, thereby improving the
quality of life, therapies and treatments.
