There are three popular ways to say it, with none being a definitive "right" way. All are correct.

Some people will use the full acronym, pronouncing each letter "V-O-I-P".

Some people will use the first two words combined with IP (pronounced as separate letters). This is actually more like a phrase "Voice-Over-I-P".

Some will say the acronym as a word, just as it sounds (like void only with a p at the end) "voyp".

Regarding the business VoIP market, in early 2006, Yankee Group predicted a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 31.4 percent, adding that the market would reach nearly $3.3 billion in 2010.

According a report from BBC there is about 2.2trillion dollar VoIP market in India by 2012.

VoIP technology hit the Indian Markets quite late, but has picked up very fast.

VoIP is much in demand in India, as India has lots of outsourcing business which leads to lots of communication expenses with their foreign counterparts .

Page 21: Tarvinder voip ppt

Still today there are many places in India where the bandwidth quality is not sufficient enough to use VoIP technology.

The Government Authorities like TRAI and DOT has not been able to implement policies in India to encourage the foreign companies to invest in India.

Heavy License fees is one of those factors.
