Thegeneral,accidentpreventionregulations(UVV),thetradeassociationresponsibleforyourcompanyinGermanyor for your company valid regulations and lawsof the respective country.Youwill alsoreceivethefollowingsafetyinstructions:
• Makesurebefore installingandremovingtheshaftcoupling, theengineanddrivetrainhasbeensecuredagainstaccidentalactivation!Thismaydoneforexamplebyusingsigns,orbyremovingthefusesonthepowersupply(decommissioning).Rotatingpartsmaycauseseriousinjury.Alsofollowthenotesbelowundertheaspect„SafetyFirst“.
• Onlyusesuitable,approvedandtestedslingmeansfortransportingandinstallingtheshaftcoupling!Donotstayinthehazardousarea!
• Duringtransportoftheshaftcoupling,alongwithagearorsimilar,youhavetosecureitontheshafttopreventslipping,iftheshaftcouplingisnotfirmlymounted!!
• Withanuprightstorage,youhavetotakecare,thattheshaftcouplingcannotfalloverorroll.
• Neverstarttheclampingprocedurewithoutinsertedshaft!Thiscanresultindamagetothebushandthepressurerings!
Youonlyallowedtomount,dismantleandusetheshaftcouplingif:
• youhavecarefullyreadandunderstoodtheinstallationinstructions
• youhadtechnicaltraining
• yourcompanyauthorizedyoutodothat
You are only allowed to perform maintenance and repairs if you meet the above terms and arefamiliarizedwiththeproceduresused.Theshaftcouplingmustbeusedonlyinaccordancewiththeirtechnicaldata.Constructivemodifications,withoutourapproval,arenotpermitted.Foranyresultingdamageweacceptnoliability.Wereservethe right for technicalchanges, if theseserve todevelopmentor improvesafety.Theshaftcouplingdescribedhererepresentsthestateoftheartatthetimeofcreationofthismanual.

Theshaftcouplingislubricatedatthefactory.Afterdisassemblyoftheshaftcouplingtheproperlubricationhastobeexamined.Checkthelubricationoftheplacesmarkedwith X ,andthelubricationofthescrewthreadsandheadrests.Aslubricantmolybdenumdisulfide(MoS2)pasteisused.

•Thecontactsurfacesbetweenshaftandbush(bushbore)mustbegrease-free,dryandclean toensureasufficientlyhighcoefficientoffriction.
•Thefunctionalsurfacesoftheshaftcoupling,thescrewthreadandtheheadrestsarelubricatedatthefactory.
•Forshaftcouplingsthebushisopionallyprotectedwithoiledpaper.Thismustberemovedbeforeassembly.
Preparation
1.Positioningoftheshaftcouplingontheshaftasspecifiedintheassemblydrawing.Removepossiblypresenttransportlocksbetweenthepressurerings.Makesurethatthepressureringsarepositionedentirelyonthecontactsurfacesbetweenthebushandshafttoavoiddamagingofthecomponents.Tofacilitatetheassembly,shaftcouplingscanbedisassembled.
2.Hand-tightenthescrewsoftheshaftcouplinguntilitsitsfreeofclearanceontheshaft.Payattentiontotheparallelismofthepressurerings!
3.Duringfurtherclampingprocedureacircumferentiallyuniformgapsizebetweenthepressureringsistobeobserved.Forthispurposecheckthegapsizeatseveralpointsaroundthecircumference.

1.Loosenthescrewsevenlyoneaftertheother.Forthispurposeseveralcyclesarenecessarytoavoidanoverloadofthescrewwhenlooseningthepressurerings.Neverremovescrewsbeforetheshaftcouplingiscompletelyrelaxed.Otherwise there is a high risk of accidents due to overloading of one individual screw!
2.Iftheshaftcouplingcompletelyrelaxed,theshaftandbushcanbeseparatedfromeachother.
3.Pullofftheshaftcouplingfromtheshaft.
Dismantling
Beforereuse,cleantheshaftcouplingandchecktheperfectconditionofthecomponents.Cleanthepressureringsandthebushandchecktheperfectconditionofthecomponents.Alllubricationpointsmustbeprovidedwithnewlubricantsinaccordancewiththesemanual(see „Lubrication“).
Reuse of used shaft couplings
Defectshaftcouplingsmustbecleanedofgreaseandoilandbescrapped.
Ifyouareunsurewhetheryourshaftcouplingarestillusable,youcansendittousforreview/repair.Pleasecontactusinanycasebeforesending!
Repair / disposal
4.Forthefurthertighteningprocess,atorquewrenchorothersuitabletool/methodisused.Thescrewsareattractedinseveralcycles,step-by-step(25%, 50%, 75%, 100%).Thestandardtighteningtorque,see the shaft coupling and the corresponding dimension sheet. In special cases, the tighteningtorquemaybereduced,sothespecificationinthedimensionsheetismandatory!(if any)
5.Nowtightenthescrewsinorder. (The first stage can also be performed crosswise.)Aftereachcycleincreasetothenextstage.Isthemaximumtighteningtorqueofthescrewsreached,performano-ther2-3roundswiththesametorque.Istheproposedtighteningtorqueachievedatallscrews,theinstallationoftheshaftcouplingiscompleted.
