Task 7: Part 4 – VST Effects

BTEC Level 3 Games Design

The sounds don’t appear to have changed, but effects have been added to the sounds.

Here I have added effects as envelopes instead of using the main UI.

This is the UI for the effect, changing the different sections applies the changes to the sound.

This effect makes the sounds that are put into it sound glitchy, and distorts the sound in a variety of ways.

In these screenshots, I have used VST effects to change a sound drastically. I took the sound of a bird singing, and added some VST effects to it, I used effects like ‘dblue Glitch’ and ‘Battery Acid’ to try and erase as much of the original sound as possible. I also added some of the effects that were created using envelopes, as some of the sounds can be edited this way once the effects have been added, without having to use the UI, giving the user greater control over the effect.

When an effect is applied, it sometimes gives the user the option to edit the sound using envelopes, too. I selected a few of these effects and added them to the sounds so I could then edit using key frames.
