Taylor Bowls are delighted to announce that our teams of players from around the globe have just concluded one of our most successful world outdoor & indoor championship campaigns ever.

Hosted in Adelaide, Australia, we supported this quadrennial event as the Official Equipment Supplier where a variety of players helped us amass gold medals in all four of the women’s disciplines, gold in the men’s triples as well as a healthy sprinkling of silver and bronze for both, all using Taylor bowls.

Congratulations to all winners, but particularly to the players who promoted our product so meticulously. Karen Murphy once again stole the show and became the first player to hold the indoor and outdoor singles titles simultaneously, and with Natalie Melmore adding bronze to her Commonwealth singles title we must be doing something right with our bowls!

Karen won the coveted singles crown and just for good measure the triples with our sponsored players Lynsey Armitage and Natasha van Eldick. Add to that Australia’s pairs gold from Kelsey Cottrell and Becky Quail and a massive well done to Scotland’s Michelle Cooper, Lynn Stein, Caroline Brown and Margaret Letham who adapted to the testing Australian conditions and secured the fours gold. You can’t ask for better than that!

In the men’s events, Darren Burnett helped make it a third world triples title in a row for Scotland along with David Peacock and Graeme Archer while Canada’s Ryan Bester gave Leif Selby a run for his money in the singles but had to accept silver. There are too many players to mention but we would ask that they please accept a very sincere thank you for their entertaining endeavours on our behalf.

The good news continued from Potters, with our very own Stewart Anderson, who for the last three years produced some of the most consistent performances ever witnessed to win the World Indoor Singles Title against Paul Foster. In fact three of the semi-finalists used Taylor products with Stewart joined by David Gourlay and Midlothian’s David Peacock.

We are extremely proud of the fact that Andy Thomson was awarded an MBE for Services to Bowls in the New Year’s Honours List – an outstanding achievement which was capped at the WBT Awards at Potters Leisure Resort where he was named as the Player of the Year and the Players Player of the Year. Our own Anne Dunwoodie also picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award.

As you browse through this year’s catalogue, you will notice that we have an array of new merchandise for you to cast your eye over. In particular we have launched a new bowl called Blaze (p5) which is designed with a slender diameter for a more comfortable in your hand and has a similar bias to Ace. We have also introduced a new bag range which is stylish as well as practical (p34), and we have also added some colour to our ever popular Flexi-Dry waterproof range (p28). As the names suggest, both games originated in Scotland and are played as follows: Scottish Carpet Bowling played on low felt covered table 3’ wide and 24’ long using -

Biased Carpet Bowls. Each set consists of 4 pairs of Black and 4 pairs of Brown bowls with a White jack. Each pair of bowls is distinguished by coloured scores of Red, Blue, Green and White. The bowls, despite their smaller size, have been machined and fi nished to give as accurate a bias as the fi nest lawn bowls.

By popular request we have added a new “Blue” colour range to our Flexi-Dri waterproofs which are smart, sporty,practical and comfortable.

This wet weather gear is engineered from a technologically advanced, breathable, lightweight, windproof material with a clever elastane infl uence for greater mobility particularly around the arm and leg areas. With taped seams and stretch mesh lining the waterproofs off er a comfortable, fl exible fi t for a smooth, non restrictive delivery.

In the long sleeved jacket, blue or mid grey coloured panelling is on the inside of the collar, the side panels and underarm area – traditionally the worst areas for the garments soiling. Piping in the same tone enhances the shoulders, pocket detail and around the zipped area of the trousers.
