tbmr - bmr for tivoli storage manager
DESCRIPTION
TBMR is a Bare Machine Recovery solution that allows IBM Tivoli Storage Manager users to recover machines directly from their TSM backups. TBMR protects mission critical servers from the consequences of both physical damage and corruption of the operating system, and users can utilise the power of TSM to recover their operating system to any point in time provided by TSM.TRANSCRIPT

What is BMR?
• Machine failure can be caused by physical, mechanical or software issues.
• Bare Machine Recovery (BMR) provides automatic or semi-automatic recovery of operating system and application data.
• Saves hours and even days on system recovery.• A key disaster recovery and migration tool.
TBMR Overview
• TBMR is a Bare Machine Recovery solution that allows IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) users to recover machines directly from their TSM backups.
• In the event of a server failure, TBMR will automatically recover the operating system and applications so that no additional backup needs to be performed, and no additional storage or network bandwidth is required.
• This means that, unlike other BMR products, no separate backup application needs to be installed, managed and monitored.
• TBMR is sold by IBM and leading partners worldwide.• Integrates seamlessly with TSM• TBMR offers one common recovery infrastructure and
management. No need to deploy multiple OS-specific recovery tools
TBMR Features
Backups are performed by TSM, retaining the features and advantages of that software.
TBMR can recover a server operating system in as little as ten minutes and multiple servers can be recovered simultaneously. A whole data centre can be recovered in just a few hours.
TBMR recoveries can be fully automated. Recoveries can be made to similar or dissimilar hardware, and to
virtual and Cloud machines. TBMR allows you to easily achieve your recovery RTOs and RPOs Provides an exactly identical machine. Restores to any point in time that is available in TSM.
TBMR supports: Windows, Linux, AIX and Solaris machines All TSM server and BA clients versions currently supported by

TBMR Value Proposition
Improves recovery times and points Servers restored in minutes versus hours Multiple servers can be restored simultaneously Can restore to any point in time that is available from
TSM
Ensures reliability of the recovery process Simplifies and automates the recovery process No additional product knowledge required Can be used to create machine clones for testing or
migration
Recovery Console
Test for recovery and test again. “It’s all about the recovery…”

An easy-to-use and automated add-on. Creates a sandbox environment to test whether a machine
can be successfully recovered from TSM backups. Automatically creates a VM to test the recovery process. Success and failure reporting automatically emailed to
nominated personnel. Confirms that your system backups will recover reliably. Can be carried out on multiple servers. Usage is token-based.
