Meet & great at Lisbon airport after your overnight flight, transfer to your
hotel in town.
Remainder of the day at leisure.
Discover Lisbon, Portugal´s capital: the main avenues, parks and squares, the down town area,
St. George Castle, and Alfama.The Bairro Alto Hill, and the monumental area of Belém, with
Jerónimos Monastery (UNESCO World Heritage Site).
Departure to Cascais, driving along the coastal road, passing by Estoril Casino and Gardens.
Visit charming Cascais, where short walk through center.
To Sintra (UNESCO World Heritage Site) , via the beautiful Guincho beach. Walk through the
historical centre, visit the 15Th c. Royal Palace, and have time to sample the famous pastries.
Back to Lisbon. Dinner and overnight.
Departure to Óbidos, visiting the quaint medieval walled town, on our way to coastal
town of Nazaré, with its beautiful beach and fishing port. On to Batalha, to visit the
imposing gothic Monastery (UNESCO World Heritage Site).
After lunch we continue to the famous Shrine of Fátima, before continuing to Coimbra,
Portugal´s oldest university town. Dinner and overnight.
City sightseeing tour visiting the old University and its fantastic Library. Stop over for
lunch at Bairrada area, to taste some of the famous suckling pig.
On to Porto, stopping first at Gaia, for a visit to the world renowned Port Wine cellars.
Dinner and overnight.
City sightseeing tour, showing us to the different neighbourhoods of the
city, visiting the old Cathedral, the lavishly decorated church of St Francis
Church and Bolsa Palace.
On to Guimarães, birth place of Portugal´s first King, Afonso Henriques,
visit the mighty Castle and the Palace of the Dukes of Bragança.
To beautiful Amarante, on the banks of the Tâmega River. Dinner and
overnight.
To Vila Real, capital of Trás-os-Montes region, we visit the Mateus Manor,
best example of baroque architecture, with its unique gardens and park.
A scenic drive, through the rugged hills and valleys of the Port Wine
producing region, will bring us to Régua, on the right bank of the Douro
River.
To historical Lamego, with its famous Shrine to Our Lady of the Remedies,
and Viseu, the heart of the Dão wine producing region. Dinner and overnight.
We climb up to Guarda – over 1000m above sea level – and continue via Belmonte to
Castelo Branco.
After Lunch, on to Estremoz, where we shall see the Castle and the famous marble
quarries.
To monumental Évora, famous for its Roman Temple and much more, and UNESCO
World Heritage Site. Dinner and overnight.
Walking tour of Évora, highlighting the Roman Temple, the Cathedral, and the strange
Ossuary Chapel.
After lunch, we return to Lisbon, via Azeitão, for a stop at the wine cellars for the
famous Moscatel wine. Dinner and overnight.
