Día 3Lee el texto. Luego, completa el cuadro en la página siguiente.

Making FriendsMaya was tired of moving. Why did her mom have to have a traveling job? A new city every year might sound glamorous to some people, but to Maya it just was plain awful. She wished she had 1 hometown and best friends.

Maya snapped on her helmet and kneepads. One good thing about moving to a new place was exploring the skate parks. Every city had them, and they were all different.

Maya was zipping around the park on her blades when she suddenly heard a chorus of voices behind her. She spun around to see a line of kids her age giggling and skating together. Maya longed for friends like that.

“Hey!” the girl in the purple helmet called out. “Are you new, and do you want to skate with us?”

Maya felt sunshine flow over her. “Yes, to both questions!” She smiled brightly.

“We all just moved here, too,” the boy in the yellow shirt said. “Our parents move all over for their jobs. Margie started this group last week. We call ourselves the Rolling Rangers.”

Maya laughed. “I sure do want to join!” she said. “So, let’s get rolling!”

Today at school, Rosie will give her presentation on United States geography. She is bursting with excitement to share everything that she has studied and learned!

Rosie has brown eyes and brown hair. She likes to wear her hair in long braids. She is wearing green pants and a red striped shirt.

Rosie has been practicing her presentation every night for the last 7 days. She would stand in front of her parents and practice. She would explain the difference between a desert and a forest. She would talk about the different weather patterns in each state. Then, she would finish her presentation by answering any questions that her parents had.

Before her presentation starts, Rosie stands at the front of the classroom and looks around. She sees her classmates staring back at her. Rosie takes a deep, slow breath to relax. Then, she starts. “Did you know that there are 50 states in the United States of America?”
