We are here today to thank God for bestowing on you the privilege of shaping the character of the wards in your care. ‘Those who educate children well are more to be honoured than parents, for these only gave life, those the art of living well’ (Aristotle).Today we celebrate your presence and power as a Teacher of our institution.

Reader 2: God created teachers in His wisdom and grace, to help students learn to make their world a better place. Teachers inspire love of wisdom in truth to choose the enlightened path leading to the goal. Ritual A: Visuals on the Heart of a Teacher - http://youtu.be/QDVECWcYtjc

along with the song from "Taare Zameen Par" http://youtu.be/PMBetSreYRc The Heart of a Teacher by Paula Fox

The child arrives like a mystery box...with puzzle pieces inside some of the pieces are broken or missing...and others just seem to hide

But the HEART of a teacher can sort them out...and help the child to see the potential for greatness he has within...a picture of what he can be

Her goal isn't just to teach knowledge...by filling the box with more parts it's putting the pieces together...and creating a work of art

The process is painfully slow at times...some need more help than others each child is a work in progress...with assorted shapes and colors

First she creates a classroom...where the child can feel safe in school where he never feels threatened or afraid to try...and kindness is always the rule

She knows that a child can achieve much more when he feels secure inside when he's valued and loved...and believes in himself...and he has a sense of pride

She models and teaches good character...and respect for one another how to focus on strengths...not weaknesses and how to encourage each other

She gives the child the freedom he needs...to make choices on his own so he learns to become more responsible...and is able to stand alone

He's taught to be strong and think for himself...as his soul and spirit heal and the puzzle that's taking shape inside...has a much more positive feel

The child discovers the joy that comes...from learning something new... and his vision grows as he begins to see all the things that he can do

A picture is formed as more pieces fit...an image of the child within with greater strength and confidence...and a belief that he can win!

All because a hero was there...in the HEART of a teacher who cared enabling the child to become much more...than he ever imagined...or dared

A teacher with a HEART for her children...knows what teaching is all about she may not have all the answers...but on this...she has no doubt

When asked which subjects she loved to teach, she answered this way and smiled... "It's not the subjects that matter...It's all about teaching the CHILD."

Scripture Reading: Mt 5: 14 – 16 Reader 3: Let us now listen to the Scripture Reading: Mt 5: 14 – 16 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp, and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

Reader 4:

Dear teachers you are more significant than what you teach because you have the passion to make your pupils to scholars. You educate to enlighten, enrich and empower and not just teach to give information, for education is the kindling of a flame and not the filling of a vessel.

Dear teachers you make a difference, as you facilitate students to know their self-worth and discover the inner joy in using one’s talents in service.. You reach out to each child to become the next great teacher, parent, author, artiste, scientist, architect, musician, doctor, engineer and leader.

‘A good teacher is like a candle.’ You burn yourself to spread the light of knowledge, wisdom, peace and love. You are content to be hidden so that your students may shine. Let the good Lord bless you with sound health of body, mind, heart and soul for the noble task you are engaged in.

Let us teachers stand up with lighted candles to signify our service without counting the cost as we echo the song ‘carry your candle’ and hold it high as the chorus ‘carry your candle’ is sung.

Ritual B: Hold a lighted candle and raise it high during the chorus ‘Carry your candle’ Concluding Song : Carry your candle - Refer: http://youtu.be/CVqR6kTu8lE There is a candle in every soul Some brightly burning, some dark and cold There is a Spirit who brings a fire Ignites a candle and makes His home Carry your candle, run to the darkness Seek out the hopeless, confused and torn Hold out your candle for all to see it Take your candle and go light your world Take your candle and go light your world Frustrated brother, see how he's tried to Light his own candle some other way See now ur sister, she's been robbed & lied to Still holds a candle without a flame Carry your candle, run to the darkness Seek out the lonely, the tired and worn

Hold out your candle for all to see it Hold out your candle for all to see it Take your candle, and go light your world Take your candle, and go light your world

We are a family whose hearts are blazing So let's raise our candles and light up the sky Praying to our Father, in the name of Jesus Make us a beacon in darkest times Carry your candle, run to the darkness Seek out the helpless, deceived and poor Hold out your candle for all to see it Take your candle, and go light your world

Carry your candle, run to the darkness Seek out the hopeless, confused and torn Hold out your candle for all to see it Take your candle, and go light your world Take your candle, and go light your world. Concluding Prayer: (Any Teacher)

Lord God, Your Spirit of Wisdom fills the earth and teaches us your ways. Instruct me that I may learn from Thee what I ought to teach concerning thee. Help me never to forget the beauty in each child. Enable me to teach with wisdom for I help to shape the mind. Equip me to teach with truth for I help to shape the conscience. Encourage me to teach with vision for I help to shape the future. Empower me to teach with love for I help to shape the world.
