Pastor Kyle Key Installation
Everyone is invited to attend the Installation
Service of Dr. Kyle Key on Sunday, May 15,
2016 at 3:00 pm at Teays Valley Presbyterian
Church. After a long pastor nominating process,
and with God’s guidance, members of Teays
Valley Presbyterian Church chose Pastor Key to
be our Pastor. He began his service at TVPC in
January 2016. The installation will be a formal
recognition of this pastorate. Local pastors and
representatives from the WV Synod have been
invited, and many will be present for the service.
Dr. Key served most recently as the Associate
Pastor of Discipleship at First Presbyterian
Church, Harrisonburg, VA. He has served as
Pastor at Roxborough Presbyterian Church,
Philadelphia, PA, St. Andrew Presbyterian
Church, Elkview, WV and Piedmont Presbyterian
Church, Callaway, VA.
Dr. Key and his wife, Chris, have family in this
area and are familiar with Teays Valley. Kyle grew
up in South Charleston, and Chris was raised in
Dunbar. They met at Marshall University in the
Christian student group, CRU. Pastor Key noted
that “after a long process of God pursuing me, I
answered His call to go into the pastoral ministry
during my sophomore year”. After graduation from
Marshall, he attended Gordon- Conwell Seminary
for two years and then transferred to Union
Theological Seminary, where he received his
D.Min.
Pastor Key and his wife Chris are blessed with
three wonderful children, Sarah, Joshua, and
Jonathan. They hope to soon sell their residence
in VA and purchase a home in the Teays Valley
area. Pastor Key is looking forward to “beginning
a new chapter of service to his Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ.” He welcomes the opportunity to
minister along side others and to watch God work
in us and through us.
Plan to join us on Sunday, May 15 at 3:00 p.m. at
TVPC for the service, followed by refreshments
and a time of fellowship.
Are you graduating either from
high school or college??? Please contact the church office with the following
information: Graduating from where? Degree?
Next step? etc. We would love to be able to
announce it in our next newsletter issue and at the
Church!
Pastor Kyle’s Sermon Schedule

MAY
3
Thank you all for your donations of Macaroni and Cheese in April. In May, the Christian Community Cupboard is in need of Canned Pinto Beans and
Baked Beans.
The Board of the Christian Community Cupboard decided to start opening the Cupboard to provide food to those in need the last Saturday of each month, in addition to every Tuesday and Friday during the month. To give you some feedback, the first Saturday the Cupboard was open, no families came to pick up food. The second Saturday the Cupboard was open, four families were served. Hopefully as the word gets out, this additional service day will be helpful and used by families who are unable to come during the week.
As in past years, Teays Valley Presbyterian Church will provide volunteers to staff the Cupboard the last two weeks in July.
The dates we will work are: Tuesday, July 19, Friday, July 22, Tuesday, July 26, and Friday July 29.
Those who volunteer are asked to be at the Cupboard at 9:15 am and should plan to stay until noon or a little after. In addition to our adult volunteers, this is a wonderful opportunity for our youth to participate in a Mission Outreach activity. Please let me know if you would like to volunteer for one or more days.
Thanks, Barb 304-757-7369 [email protected]
Deep Cleaning!!!
Mark May 10 th on your calendars…The second Tuesday of May will be our next Deep Cleaning Day at TVPC. Everyone is encouraged to come any time between 9:00am to 5:00pm and help with the various cleaning tasks needed in our church. It is a time of fun, fellowship and work to make our church one that is inviting and welcoming to everyone who enters our doors.

Mission Outreach Ministry Team is
planning our annual summer picnic for the residents of Teays Valley Manor on Saturday, June 11, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. We grill hamburgers and hot dogs and bring all of the usual picnic food for a wonderful meal together in the picnic shelter beside the Manor. Anyone who would like to join us for this special evening is welcome to come and share a meal together and get to know our Manor neighbors.
Teays Valley Manor Hymn Sing…
The Spring Hymn Sing at Teays Valley Manor was held Thursday evening, April
Mission Outreach Updates:

21, and twelve residents and several Mission Outreach team members joined together in beautiful harmony with many of our favorite old hymns. We were so appreciative of Donna Ball’s accompanying us on the piano. She had prepared two sheets with some of the most popular hymns from our gathering in the Fall. There was a short break from singing, time to enjoy some cookies and coffee and good fellowship. This semi-annual event is quite popular with the residents and our participating church members. Images below are from the event.
The Evangelism Ministry Team is very pleased to announce that our
new TVPC Web Site will be live very soon. Tina Cobb and members of the team have worked many months gathering information and pictures for this new site. We also very much appreciate our “church photographer,” Bruce Davis, who has taken
hundreds of pictures to find the perfect ones to tell the story of our church. Once the site is live, we will be able to make changes and updates. The Evangelism Team hopes that everyone at TVPC will visit the site and offer suggestions for keeping it updated. We would also encourage you to invite your friends to check out the new TVPC site. We will let everyone know when it is available. Fall Festival…The Evangelism Ministry Team is thinking about having a Fall Festival at TVPC and reaching out to the local community, inviting them to join with us for some fun fall activities. The team is considering the possibility of having the event on a Sunday, in October, 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. We would like to have a theme with activities from the past, such as hay rides, relay games, bobbing for apples, corn hole. We could serve hot dogs and other foods for a light supper and end with a bonfire, maybe smores, and finally a vesper service around the fire. Anyone who would be interested in helping with these plans, and especially with ideas for fun activities from the past, please speak to Bob Hansen or Becky King.
Coming in May...the Putnam
County Dog Jog 5K Walk/Run, and TVPC
will once again be working with Race
Director, Tom Smith to help with this local
event. The Dog Jog will be Saturday, May
14 at 8:00 a.m. at Valley Park in
Hurricane. This event benefits the Putnam
County Animal Shelter. Volunteers are
needed with registration, handing out water
at the water tables, and general traffic
control. If you would be able to help,
please speak with Bob Hansen or Tom
Smith.

The Lord’s Prayer
Matthew 6:9-13 King James Version (KJV) 9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is
in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And
forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For
thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
forever. Amen.

Pastor’s Note Greetings!
As I look out my clear,
clean office windows I can
see two beautiful lavender
orchids, at least I think
they are orchids! Chris is
the gardener in the family.
What is so wonderful is
that I can see so clearly out of my windows
because several people like Linda Hansen, Don
Farmer, David Brown, Janet Sims, and I am not
sure who else, worked really hard to remove the
cloudy tint that was on them, while I was on
vacation in Harrisonburg for Josh’s surgery. I
can see clearly now and it is really nice until late
afternoon when the afternoon sun comes
pouring in and I have to close the shades, but
that is a good problem to have! Thanks to
everyone who worked so hard to help me see
out!
It is always amazing to me how quickly
everything turns green once it starts to happen,
and it is always so refreshing to see the
kaleidoscope of colors after the drab browns of
winter. As we continue to move through May,
which ends with Memorial Day, I want to
encourage us to be in prayer.
Pray for our nation and for spiritual revival.
Pray for missionaries who are serving our Lord
in foreign lands, many of which are dangerous
places.
Pray for Christians all around the world who are
being forced to leave their homes, and
everything they know, because they claim Jesus
Christ as their Lord, and pray for those who take
risks to help them.
Pray for our troops who are serving our country
in many places around the world, and pray for
their families and loved ones who are waiting for
them to return.
Pray for our veterans as they return to civilian
life, many of whom carry scars, both visible and
invisible, directly related to their service to our
country. Pray for their families as they struggle
to deal with those changes.
Pray for those who have lost loved ones who
were fighting to protect our freedoms.
Pray for our government leaders at every level
of government and that they would seek wisdom
from above and God’s Word as they try to lead
our country.
Pray for churches around the world as they
strive to fulfill their mission of revealing Jesus
Christ to the world around them.
Pray for Teays Valley Presbyterian Church and
our leaders as we seek God’s will and purpose
for this church as we move forward in ministry.
Pray for our members who need God’s healing
touch.
Pray for our community and that people will be
drawn to Jesus Christ as we seek to be His
faithful ambassadors!
Finally, pray for me as I seek to shepherd the
flock to whom God has called me.
Your Pastor and friend, Kyle
P. S. I would love for you to join me at my
Installation Service as pastor of TVPC on May
15 at 3:00 PM.

Family Health Ministries
Teays Valley Presbyterian Church has enjoyed a twelve year history of working with Family Health Ministries in Durham, NC. In 2003, Cathy and David Walmer visited our church and spoke about their ministry. Since that time we have financially supported their mission, providing needed medical supplies and other hygiene items. We have also had four members of our church travel on their medical trips.
Family Health Ministries has recently announced their 2016 mission travel dates. There are presently openings for:
June 11-19 for a Blanchard Clinic Medical Trip. Healthcare providers and non-medical members are needed.
July 16-24 for the Vacation Bible School week. There are also three other weeks with openings with Hope Community Church, Raleigh, NC. Participants would work with members of this church in three different medical locations in Haiti.
Please visit their site at www.familyhm.org for more information about Family Health Ministries, their mission travel, their work in Haiti, other ways to get involved with their ministries, Haiti news, and how to contact them. Also, do not hesitate to speak with Laura Boggess, Laura Lees, or Bob and Linda Hansen about any questions you might have about the Family Health Ministries mission in Haiti
“Supporting Haitian communities in their efforts to build and sustain healthy families” is the Mission Statement of Family Health Ministries. “Together-Learning to live God’s love” is the Mission Statement of Teays Valley Presbyterian Church.

2016 Presbyterian Youth Triennium Now's the time to identify youth in grades 8-12 in your congregation who might be interested in attending the 2016 Presbyterian Youth Triennium held on the campus of Purdue University, July 18-23, 2016. The presbytery will be taking a delegation of youth and adult advisors to this faith/life changing event with other Presbyterians across the nation and the world. The cost per youth will be $425, which includes housing, transportation, program, t-shirts and meals. Adult advisors over the age of 25 will also be needed, though the exact number won't be known until registrations are in; interested adults should be in touch with Susan Sharp Campbell as soon as possible. It is our intention to take all interested youth from the presbytery.
Bluestone Year-End Updates Bluestone We're not far from closing out another year at Bluestone. The majority of camp is winterized, except for two of our recently remodeled cabins which we will keep open through the winter... which means... Bluestone is now officially a year-round retreat center! We encourage small groups of up to 20 people to consider coming to Bluestone this winter for a weekend retreat... We anticipate the opening of
registration for Summer Camp 2016 by January 1 via our online process. In the meantime, these are the dates for camp this coming summer: June 12 - June 18, June 19 - June 25, June 26 - July 2, July 3 - July 9
